FanFic:

I guess I was a little short, sorries:)

To qualify what I said: we often get a lot of suggestions and ideas. Unfortunately these discussions often become very aggressive when the feasibility is questioned. Most of the suggestions have already been brought up but ruled out due to one thing or another. Joining staff would allow these good ideas to be better adapted to the situations and better applied, or at the least it will be clearer why certain options cannot be implemented.

We have staffers that have started at the very bottom and because they showed clear interest and dedication to improving the system have moved up to senior staffer positions. People's contributions to staff are very valued and the metamorphosis of reg is evident of that.

thanks:)

I've said it before. If you want to make it better or faster, stop complaining and staff!:)

I highly doubt that a new volunteer staff member would have very much input as far as how registration is processed.

Maybe it's just me, but for the sake of organization I wouldn't just allow any new volunteer to come in and say "Alright you guys suck let's do it my way."

Besides, the suggestions I've brought up could probably be answered with a "Yes, that's possible" or a "No, probably can't happen because of X,Y and Z." I don't see much point in throwing a lot of energy and time towards an endeavor that may be doomed from the start never to work the way I imagined it.

I'm hopeful for this year though, as Tony tells me that registration has evolved into a higher species during these last 365 days...lol.

btw...I'm not bashing on you Eric, or any registration staff. It's just the way I see it. Seems odd that one volunteer staff member could completely overhaul the way registration is done. Perhaps I've grown too cynical in my (young) age.

Big Event Showcase / Re: An Cafe concert tickets
May 13, 2008, 11:25:05 PM
Is it unethical and how likely will it be successful if we try to bribe the incorruptible Musicfest staff for a ticket?

I might have a ring....or something shiny... a shiny bright extravagant special thing of silver

O:-) everybody smile, we are close to an awesome con with An Cafe!

Isn't "Anything that looks like or resembles a danger..." a little redundant?

not redundant at all. If it isn't covered in our policy, somebody will inevitably argue that their item is not covered under the policy.

the seating chart has NOT been scrapped and yes you must check in on Friday unless you have other arrangements with the artist alley staff.

Checking in will allow us to get to those on the wait list for those that are no-shows. There are still people that are very anxious about being able to sell or not.

The Fanime staff work hard to make Fanime as fair and enjoyable as possible. Unfortunately, things happen that are out of our control. If we encounter technical difficulties we have no recourse but to move on and issue a general announcement at the end of the process.  If you have any comments or grievances, either PM me or e-mail me at ericATfanimeDOTcom.

Sounds fun but note that anything airsoft will be confiscated IMMEDIATELY if brought into the con. Laser tag guns may work, but may also not as they may need to be peace bonded.

for reference:

Bear in mind, if you all are going to put something together it will be nowhere close to a Fanime sanctioned or permitted event.

If you stayed about an hour after, you would've heard the nickname my friends and I gave to Eric (fan services head).

^^ Maybe next time if my friends and I can stay long enough, we'll set up/play DS games.

hehe if you want to convey your displeasures about a long wait, qualify it with the day, time, and type of pass......then you can help us encourage pre-registering and help people identify when the less busy times are.

trust me, these lines are not from a lack of trying. reg staff is working their lil bottoms off to improve the process and get you into the con faster so you can see more and have more fun....

honestly, reg staff has the biggest motivation to get you all regged. so they themselves can rotate out and see the con themselves:)

Peace

We will also be selling the tables of the no shows at con.

Basically we are working on putting together a policy that will prominently be posted on the the website. We will make a post on the forums to not that when the time comes. It looks like this thread is gonna get ugly so I'm gonna lock it. Feel free to e-mail registrationATfanmieDOTcom if you have any unaddressed concerns. thanks:)
