So... did anyone make it to AX this year? And if so, what did you get to do/see while you were there?

I did! I was wearing a tuxedo with a big pink heart around my bicep with a heart staff lol I just did what you usually do. panels, rooms, midnight hentai seeing, ect haha

I think they dont want to until they get close to AX's range so then they can feel good about the turnout lol

Konekogami I was merely implying that the rude photographers tend to be plain clothed NON cosplayers. I never meant it to be read as "cosplayers who are plain clothed who are rude" hell no! I ALWAYS cosplay at cons but when I dont I am plain clothed and taking pics. Sorry if you thought I was bashing on plain clothed cosplayer photographers

I only only of 4 cons here. AX, ALA, Fan and Sac

But they're killing their weekend?  Really?  Then why the hell would they go all the way out to a convention?  Pay registration? Stay there for 3-4 days? Lug around equipment, pay for a hotel?  Why do all of that for our "late ass halloween shenanigans"?  Why not focus on other things?  Wedding photos, landscape photos, taking photos of birds.  ._.;

They would not spend so much time, money and effort on photographing something they hated, or thought was lame.

I'll be happy to make "more sense" easy. The ones with cameras are usually in plain clothed am I right? Do you see alot of cosplayers taking other cosplayer pics? Nope. And well, if you lived in the SJ area and saw alot of colorful and/or weird costumes dont you want to go down and see whats up? Take pics of those costumes for appraisal and show off to your friends, "hey guys look what I took this weekend at the CC. Bunch of people in costumes!" So the majority of photographers (I did NOT say PROFESSIONAL) are non cosplayed regular people checking out whats happening at their city's convention center. Plus I highly doubt someone from outside California would go to a con and pay the reg fee for all weekend plain clothed lmfao

if I meant PROFESSIONAL I wouldnt have said 95% cause hell freezes over if they are 95% of them taking our pics, otherwise we'd all find ourselves easily instead of making a thread and having 20+ pages of "looking for me" ordeal now would we? Niet, nien, nada, nil.

I did see a fangirl outright tackle a particularly well-made and very attractive FF8 cosplayer several years ago at AX though

where has this fandom gone to? Don't see that at fanime anymore UNLESS it's fanime's fault if it has a 'no glomping" nazi rule to restrict that kind of "meeting" lol I surely do miss that actually!

@topic: remember guys like 95% of the photographers are NON cosplayers who arent MUCH INTO anime as we may be and are killing their weekend seeing our "late ass halloween" shenanigans, so it's actually quite common/normal for them to be dicks to us cosplayers.

Man with all those Luke costumes, makes me think you're Rebel Legion.

I actually wanted to apply, but I dont think there is a base out here lol I'd be the lonesome representative here if they accepted my app

I'm gonna assume sometime like in october or november. Don't think they'll release the earliest badge orders yet anytime soon

hopefully the first set of prices will go down to I think it was $40 again back in '11 before the Alchemy con made fanime hike up 5 dollars for starter rate.

keep it at Parkside, but have better directions by talking to the chairman and suggest adding a "Ballroom guider" staff? Have armbands that say B&W and make them point the way to the ball? Stand at mid-way points and guide them.

SOunds intresting, might have to look into it. However i was sad that I didnt see your awesome sebastion cosplay.

no worries I can always bring it back for next year since I still have my wings intact. But I'll be mostly this new costume all weekend

it's a tux with a big pink heart armband on my bicep and then carry a staff with a a larger pink heart on top of it wth 3 homemade spikes, 2 on the sides and 1 on top. It's from a video game for the xbox 360 called Timeless. You pick male or female anime characters and it's a side scroller that you shoot random colorful objects for combo points and my cosplay is a NPC boss.

I'm going to do the heart costume for sure now! So now you guys can't miss me ;D I know for sure I'm getting the badge when it's the cheapest cause I half-assed it and got it at 55 so this year I am going 100% on top of things
