I am curious about what everyone thinks about this new show on the Syfy Channel.  It's only been one episode as of now, so it's too early to form a solid opinion, but I still want to hear what people think.

I had a quick question regarding the definition of "Old School"...
Do fighting games count? What about games that have had a remake since 2000? I have a character from a 1989 fighter I'd like to make if I have time. Her original series stopped at around 1992, but she had a few appearances in other compilation games. Does a character within those parameters still count as old-school, or do remakes and appearances disqualify them?

I suppose it depends on the character and a consensus.

I'm a newbie for cosplaying and what not, so I don't really know what to do.
If I am a single cosplayer and I want to have pictures taken of me, do I just join a group that is related to whatever I'm cosplaying? Would I have to sign up, as in send a form or something? thanks

Your best bet would be to join a group/gathering.  Gatherings tend to attract more photographers.  The larger the gathering, the more who show.  If you want a solo picture, there are enough photographers who are willing to take your picture and post it on their website.  Just be careful when soliciting strangers.  Something to look out for is the Press Badge.  Holders of the Press Badge are individuals of organizations officially recognized by Fanime as "Professionals" who adhere to Fanime's strict guidelines posted here: http://registration.fanime.com/proreg_faq.  The Cosplay Gatherings Deparment has its own photographers.  If they are not busy, one of them might be willing to take your photo.

alright, thank you for the heads up! I think I will join a gathering, however, would I need to formally sign up or could I just walk up and join considering the fact that I'd be a part of whatever that group is cosplaying?

It is not necessary to sign up for a gathering, but it lets the organizers know who is showing up.

The park sounds like a grand idea, actually, I love it. I'm not familiar with it though, is there a specific place in the park that we can meet up to?

Probably the best place to meet up is at the "Plumed Serpent" statue.  It's the coiled statue at the South end of the park, at Market and San Carlos.  It is easily seen from the convention center and hotels.

Multiple zip ties can be linked together to go around the board.

The only room I've seen to be able to set up their consoles is the VIP/Staff Lounge on the 4th floor.  Can't explain why they are able to, but I shake my fist everytime I have to stop by.

No, I'm not talking about inputs on the side of the TV. There's a separate input box on the side of the drawers that the TV sits on. And it does work. I just tested a PS2 on it.

I've actually tried that, but don't know how it works.  It is connected to the TV, but I don't know what it is exactly.  I should try asking someone downstairs.

I am looking for up to 2 roommates (up to 4 if slightly cramped is not a problem).  I am registered at the Marriott.  I check in on Friday the 22nd and check out on Monday the 25th.  Currently, there are 3 age 21+ males in the room.  18+ roommates are most preferred (but I can accept others if you speak to me about it).  Any gender is acceptable.  We are respectful and clean (we do shower at least once a day).  Payment will only be billed for nights spent, and can be paid right before leaving.  The cost is currently about $80 each for the 3 of us for all 3 nights.  The more that stay, the cheaper the cost will be.  Alcohol will be present, as well as games.  If you have any special requests, we will try to do what we can to accommodate.  You can PM me or e-mail me at [email protected].
