Hi there,

Yes, there is a minimum of 3 people to check out and form a group. Please contact [email protected] if you need someone to be removed from your account if you cannot reach 3 people.

so the leader doesnt count as a member? wouldnt that make 4 people total?

Registration / Group Registration Member Requirements
November 03, 2014, 03:12:37 PM
I just attempted to group reg me and my friends today and it says that we need 3 members minimum. However, it's telling me to add one more member. Does this mean that you need 3 members aside from the leader?

General Convention Discussion / Organizing
May 09, 2014, 10:27:16 PM
It's already nearing Fanime, less than 2 weeks. It's so close but we've yet to hear any updates on key events. So far, the last guest was announced April 18th, almost a month ago. Even now, it's already feeling hopeless that we'll be getting anything more before Day 0. Also, with the new expansion to the convention center, you'd think that we would have more events to take place at the new building, but instead we're only told about the smaller things like "Extremely Hard Anime Quiz," or "Chopped Cosplay" (Literally reminds me of Iron Cosplay from AOD 09). Despite being the 2nd largest anime convention in California, I regrettably say that this is by far poor standards in terms of organization. Add Line-Con into the mix and we'll be having one giant disaster.

Since the last Fanime site update for guests wasn't since almost a month ago, and there being less than 2 week till Fanime, I'm going to assume that they won't be announcing anymore guests at this point. It would be too late to secure anything, and to be honest, I think that eriq should leave the guest list to someone more up-to-date and reliable. Because really, this has got to be the saddest list of events announced in the 5 years I've been to the con. Looking back, I've noticed the list deteriorate into a pile of garbage. I can only see 2 relevant guests on this list, and only one of them is up-to-date. Fanime, I can honestly say this could be the last year I'll be attending.

In my opinion...

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Everything else though, the new venue, the cosplayers, pretty much everything else other than
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.
... I'm pretty goddamn hype for.

I agree with this. With the guest list Fanime is giving us, it might as well be "DubCon". Whoever the new organizer of this year is, he must really not know how to pick people for a large scale event like this. Literally everything is either a repeat guest, or a "safe pick". It wouldn't kill their funds if they were to hire someone more relevant to the current (or even last) seasons. Plus it's sad how there's no word on an idol group, or even the return of Halko Momoi. We're already this close to the con and it seems hopeless.

It's already 8 weeks before Fanime, and I'm quite disappointed with the rate of how updates are going. In the 4 years of my time going to Fanime, this is by far the latest it's ever gotten. The fact that nothing is being said about this is sickening and lowers my expectations in this being a better Fanime than last year. At the very least, there should be an announcement of one of the guests of honor showing up this year. There are even smaller cons with less of a budget who can get their guest list up within a matter of months after the convention ends. It's not even post-con, and already there are many complaints. As the second largest anime convention in California, this just ruins its reputation. It's at the point where this will regrettably be the last Fanime I'll be attending. All we ask for are consistent announcements.

Roommates Wanted

+ Introduction: Hi, my name is Chadrick (or my nickname Chidrack), I'm 19 and I've been to Fanime for 4 years with my friends at Brotaku (feel free to visit us at http://burotaku.wordpress.com), the genius minds behind "Tyrone, the Lolicon" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zZjSMED0IE). We hope to advertise our blog in the hopes of getting supporters. As of right now, we're just 2 guys with uncensored opinions on today's Japanese entertainment. We have more "personal" tastes that we think others might enjoy. Our little group of misfits include Boss (prounounced BAUS https://www.facebook.com/MyGloriousDays), and myself, one of the eariler members and assistant to Brotaku matters (https://www.facebook.com/chidrack). We want this Fanime to be a perfect one (as well as the one where we DON'T miss the opening and closing ceremonies). Our main goals for this Fanime are to try to get as much attention for possible supporters and to meet some new faces.

FAQ

- I'm curious to how Brotaku works. Is it okay for me to observe blog activities? Yes and no. Yes being you may observe us work on things like photoshoots, advertisements, etc. But you may not see us work on private matters such as meetings and private shoots.

- I'm under 18, is it still okay for me to go? If you're underage and you wish to room with us you MUST notify your parent/guardian first and provide contact information in order to keep a safe environment. We are not responsible for any and all misinformation and complaints that involve personal matters. For more information, PM Boss on his facebook or email us.

- I have friends who want to room with me as well, are they allowed to come along?
Normally, we'd only allow one roommate at a time, as having too many people in one room could prove to be a hassle. However, if they are able to accommodate themselves it's fine.

- Is there a rule on alcoholic beverages? No, there is no rule against drinking as long as you are responsible for those who drink.

- How will bed arrangements work? It will depends on how the other blog members feel about having an outside party share a bed (Remember that it's a 2 bed room). If possible, try to bring a sleeping bag or air bed if the need arises.

- I'm a girl and I'm not comfortable with staying with guys. What should I do? While we do take into account the personal feelings of other guests, it is not of our concern if someone is comfortable with the residents or not. Rest assured, we are all responsible people and would not do anything that would be considered an invasion of privacy or personal space. Also, please tell us beforehand of any problems or issues so we may not run into any problems during your stay.

- Will there be in-room gaming or anything? We plan on bringing a PS3 with anime related games if that will suffice. We will also have a collection of anime ready to stream if desired. We still want to be able to enjoy the con itself rather than stay in the room the whole time.

Further questions and information on the room may be emailed to us (only emails accepted). We look forward to enjoying Fanime 2014 with everyone and hope for the best!

Hotel and Facilities / few questions
January 29, 2014, 09:13:51 PM
Just to be clear about a few things, are all the convention center renovations complete? If so, what will the new spaces be used for, like what kinds of events will be held there and such.

Also, how will this year's lines be planned? Concerned mainly because of the lack of organization and attention to the lines in 2013. There were so many people cutting lines and inviting people to cut lines. There was even a staff member who allowed someone to bring 2 other people to cut the lines because she was going out with one of them. Either fix the lines or fix the staff please. Bump up the quality of the staff.

To be completely honest, I don't think Homestuck (or MLP, or anything of the like) has a place in Fanime. To start, it's an ANIME convention, and therefore should not be associated with the con in the first place. If possible, they should have their own seperate theme convention (like Clockwork Alchemy does for steampunk).
