Title: "Smoke gets in your eyes"
Post by: Mordyan on June 27, 2008, 04:28:07 PM
How's your air quality? Mine sucks. Check out down town Ukiah:

And we are in for weeks of it at this rate.
I am thinking of heading somewhere, anywhere, this weekend to get out of this smoke. Any suggestions?

I don't have any pictures.  But we've been hit pretty hard in Reno too.  The kids haven't been allowed to go outside since Monday because of the air quality.  Wednesday I couldn't even see to the end of the parking lot in my apartment complex.

Thank goodness things are pretty clear today.  Here's hoping it stays clear.  It would suck to not have fireworks because there's too much smoke in the air next week.

Wait, wait, why is it smoky again?

No, smoke where I live, and i don't watch the news or anything so I wouldn't know.

Anyone mind informing me?

It's the smoke from the thousand or so fires burning across the northern part of the state spreading all over the place, including the Bay Area.  They don't expect much improvement over the coming week, either.

Wild fires huh.

So far there has been 3 or so wild fires (I may be off) in the bay area, I had no idea there were any up north yet though.

We've had a unusual amount of fires this summer, haven't we.

Hmmm, everyone else gets smoke, why not me  ???

Perhaps those dark clouds over on the other sides of the hill ranges are smoke.

Still it will never come to me  :'(

It's cleared up now, they have the fires under control now.

We had a total of 123 fires in Mendocino County. We are down to 54 active fires with 38% containment as of 7:00 am this morning.

Air quality has been good last couple of days but the smoke has moved back in this afternoon. Fortunately the town of Ukiah is not threatened so my home is safe.

Man, that's really nasty. San Jose has had weird sunrises and sunsets, and the hills were all brown over the weekend, but it's really clearing up. Oh, and a couple times in the past couple weeks, I've gone out in the morning to find my bike flecked with tiny bits of ash.

I thought I had escaped this stuff when I left southern California, but now there's this. Ah well, it's still not quite as gross.

i was shocked and amazed to arrive at work today and be able to actually see San Francisco without having to squint. yay for air clearing up.

It's not that the fires are under control as it is that the winds shifted so that they're blowing in from the west, pushing some of the smoke further inland.  Once the wind shifts again, it's back to smoke city.

*Shock and awe*  My family's cars had ashes covered during the Santa Cruz fire.  I thought San Jose had poor air quality from the fire.  No more complaints from me.

Aside from the smoke and fires....it sorta feels like earthquake weather. >.<''
Has anyone else had that feeling as well?

The air quality in Fresno at the current moment is better then where I live at the Lake. >.<
I'll see if it is any better when I go back SAT.

No but I have been staring at the sky, spacing out a lot. I haven't felt that way when spacing out since I was in 1st grade.
