Ideas and Suggestions / Guests?
March 02, 2011, 08:03:39 AM
I would like to know how the staff at Fanime pick out guests... I do have a special request as this will probably be my last con for a long while due to med school stuff coming up...  :'( though I'll probably talk to whoever is in charge of guest relations for that if I know who to contact.

(you can move this if it's in the wrong place btw)

Japanese Image translation?

I have an official guidebook to the game Trauma Team (also called Hospital in Japan) and I was wondering if anyone could translate a few pages since it's in Japanese

I can provide you with photos of the pages or scan them if you like (though my printer is disconnected from my laptop so I will have to do it the hard way...)

I also have a preview picture of a doujin I have ordered. If anyone can translate that, I'd appreciate it.

(please give me your email so that I'm able to send it to you!! Thanks)

People who apparently don't understand medical procedure protocol.

Yes, we get the fact that you do fine on anesthesia without many nasty side effects. But seriously, NPO means NPO (no food or drink in hospital jargon) and the last thing we want is you puking and getting said puke into your lungs, giving you pneumonia and further increasing how many days you're in that hospital room (especially if you're one of our 'favorite' patients...)

Yuri Lowenthal is super fun to hang out with. I did work with him for a while and it was actually pretty entertaining. As far as US guests, he's probably the only person I would say that I really really enjoyed working with.

I've heard many positive things about him. He must be one of those down-to-earth VAs, huh? :)

I'd like to see a couple of guests this year (hopefully) so I do hope the staff can take the time to look at these suggestions.

Travis Willingham: A very well known VA to many anime and videogame fans alike. He's probably most famous for his role as Colonel Roy Mustang in Fullmetal Alchemist (as well as Brotherhood) He's also starred in other roles as well, such as Mori from Ouran Host Club, Kojuro Katakura in Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes, and even the dry-witted diagnostician Gabriel Cunningham from Atlus' Trauma Team. It would truly be an honor for me to meet him in person this year at Fanime 2011.

He can be contacted via this website: http://www.traviswillingham.com/

Yuri Lowenthal:
I've seen him in a lot of videogames, probably he's best known as Derek Stiles' voice in Trauma Center New Blood (he's appeared in the other games of that series but he really brings Derek to life in this particular one) He's also known as the voices of Little Guy in Trauma Team and Luc Rousseau in Trauma Center New Blood.

He can be contacted through this website: http://www.yurilowenthal.com/

Tara Platt: (she happens to be married to Yuri if I'm correct in this...) she's played many videogame roles as well as anime ones and it'd be quite the honor to meet her this year if possible. She provided the voices of Raine Sage from Tales of Symphonia as well as Valerie Blaylock from Trauma Center New Blood

She can be contacted here: http://www.taraplatt.com/home.html

I wish someone would get Travis Willingham or Amanda Winn Lee to come to next year's Fanimecon. That'd be cool as hell and I'd love to meet them.

Yeesh, is this the kind of thanks I get for at least trying to be helpful? No need to be rude.

And people wonder why us EMTs don't get much respect...

I would recommend coming prepared to Fanime if you tend to get sick easily.

I get sick at least once a year, but I still take percautions nonetheless. It's worth it to learn about medicine and physiology sometimes.

Bring the green stuff. As in what I like to call the "antibiotic gel" cuz it looks like the stuff from Trauma Center. Anyways, use that stuff religiously! Also, wash your hands everytime before you eat, after using the bathroom, or in intervals throughout the day. My family and I do this and it helps us get through the cold and flu seasons scot-free. I even go as far as using the antibiotic gel after washing my hands in a public restroom.

Also, this mainly comes from my OCD, but try to not eat with your hands. Try holding food with things like napkins or eat out of the bags if you can't find time to wash your hands. I can't stress enough just how easy it is to come down with something because you ate with dirty hands. Your mouth is the biggest transmission route just about any pathogen can get past.

Also, if you see someone that's sick, try to keep away from them. About 6 feet should do it if you don't want to go overboard with safety. And try to eat healthy and make sure your blood sugar doesn't hit the floor from forgetting to eat. If you feel shaky, weak in the knees and arms, or feel hot flashes, that's a sure sign of low blood sugar.

Unfortunately, Dan Green won't be appearing in anymore Cons, so that's a bummer and a wish I won't have granted. Darn.

But I'd love to see other classic Yugioh VAs like Wayne Grayson, Eric Stuart, Tara Jayne, and even Jonathan Todd Ross. :)

I'd love to see the English VAs too.  :)

Drivers who do not use their turn signals... ugh.

Parents who can't keep their little kids under control in certain places (for once, I'd like to enjoy a meal without listening to screaming toddlers)

Arrogance. Nuff said.

People who just can't stop asking me if I want anything to eat (I mean like every half hour) I have a restricted diet, people!

People who leave their used towels on the floor in a bathroom. It doesn't take that much effort to put the stupid thing in the laundry basket.

People who barge into my room without knocking, even if I aways knock on their door.

I would have to say my current crush/admiration is our famous Pharaoh Atem from Yugioh. :)

Of course, I did have a bit of a crush on Hotohori from Fushigi Yuugi  ;)
