With so many people attending Fanime, we were curious about how far everyone is traveling.
I will be making a whopping 1.9 mile journey to attend.
Who will be traveling the longest distance? Where are you from?
You have such a long journey! LOL I am coming from out of state, Arizona to be prescise. I live in the middle of Nowhere, I need some civilization. ;D
I'm taking light rail (:.
Most evweryone I know lives so close to the convention center! Why can't i live that close. :(
Not terribly far, but far enough -- I'm up in the Sacto area, so I have a good few hours drive ahead of me.
I'm coming from Portland Oregon, roughly 670 miles
Train from Davis, but will be staying at my brother's place in SJ
Yay not the only person coming from out of state. :)
Coming from up north in Paradise, California. It is right next to Chico, and it takes roughly 2.5 - 3 hours to get to the convention center from here. Even so, I have to come every year :)
San Leandro, roughly 30 miles from the Convention Center. Hell, this year i'm commuting.
lol, i gots it easy. im going over lightrail as well.
Coming from Modesto with my group again this year. But our friend is flying over from Missouri for the first time ever this year to join us.
I used to live in Modesto! Wow there is a lot of people that live close by... I didn't think there was so many.
Coming all the way from Texas.
Wow! There are quite a few people coming from out of state. I've never traveled out of state for a con before, but I guess I'm lucky in that there are a number of cons in my state (even if most of them are 8+ hours away, down south -- I only go to NorCal cons, for the record ;) ).
I don't know if she traveled specifically for the con or if she was already here during the time of the con (on vacation, as an exchange student, etc.), but last year, I met someone who lived in Finland. I think that's the furthest away that I've heard of someone coming to the con from! (as an attendee, not a guest, obviously)
I think I might have everyone beat. I'm flying in from Japan, so about 5500 miles. =P
I'm from San Jose though and my house is just a mile or so away from the Great Mall. Will be spending time with the fam after the con.
Half an hr. that's how far I am from the convention center.
I got a room 'cuz I'm lazy like that.
I'm coming from San Mateo, so drive's not so bad. Still got a room though because I don't want to drive back and forth lol.
An hour and a half away from Soledad.
I'm waiting for the international people to chime in. I know we had someone from England come in once. As well as someone from Canada that comes down every year.
Just about 563 miles from Eugene, OR. So many props and people and costumes to stick in my car... Don't know if I'll have room.
I know plenty of people that come from out of state, and a few that have come from other countries before. I'm coming just an hour and a half away, though. :)

You missed the first international person just 3 posts above you. :p
I'm flying in from New Mexico, and others in my group are flying in from Canada and Connecticut~ c: We're also have friends come over from Montana, Virginia, and SoCal.
I live about forty-five miles south of San Jose, but luckily my dad lives very close to the HP Pavillion, (The Shark Tank? Man so many people call it so many things what even,) and it's not at all far from the convention center! So naturally I stay with him because it's so close~
I wasn't aware people who aren't from the US attend Fanime (who aren't guests of honor of course,) so that's pretty awesome to hear! Sometimes I forget how big Fanime really is.

You're in the same vincity as me then :P I used to have a relative at the east foothills :/
There's a girl from Finland who does one of the karaoke contests :P she's a great singer- really shy though. I too was surprised at first at how so many people from so far away(outside US) come to our little dot on the map! :D Awesome, huh?
Flying in from Nebraska

Ah, that's the one I talked to! She seems very nice, though I didn't talk to her for long, since she is quite shy. Does she fly out just for Fanime?
I live about 10 miles south of the con center, blah blah blah.

it's kinda' lame... so close, yet too far to walk. driving and paying for parking every day is so dumb, right?
Literally, down the street, I live in Downtown. And even with this being the case, I'm still staying at the Marriott for the full Con experience. Nothing like getting up after a fun filled night with your friends and having breakfast with those same friends. Or if you're like me, you might just go through the whole night right into breakfast!
I'm another short distance cheater. Only have to make the drive from Sacramento. ;)

High-five for convenience expenses!!! :D
I think it's great that people come from all over to Fanime! It's definitely a convention worth the trip! I'm coming from San Francisco, so it's not too far.
Amtrak from Sacramento to San Jose~
I've known people to come from Asia, but only when Fanime has good guests.
Like during the previous Momoi-years.

I was just talking to someone about this. Good guests = higher attendance. I think this year is going to be rough.
I live only 15 min away but always get a hotel room because it just makes life a little easier as far as cosplay goes. Not to mention Artist Alley and having to bring everything in and out.
This whole year will be interesting with the construction and things being moved. Next year we should have all that new space though!
I'm traveling from 20 miles south in beautiful Santa Cruz. I have a friend coming from Oklahoma (though she does live here but she's leaving from school). I have another friend coming from Florida, and one other from Ohio. Two years ago a friend of mine who again grew up here took a plane from her school in Denmark to go to fanime and then went back right after.
4 hour drive for me.

Oh cool... lot's of out-of-towners! I hope this year is good. I grew up in the Santa Cruz area... I love it there!
A two-hour flight from Seattle for me.

My group is from Oroville, Chico, Paradise, and Magalia, but we're leaving from Oroville.
Coming from BC... 1242 kilometres, or 772 miles.
Another one from Texas here, Austin-area specifically. :D
10 minutes?
I'm coming in from Oakland but my bestie will be with me and she flew in from Finland x'p
I"m driving down from Sonoma County. It's only about an hour to two hour drive depending on traffic. Wow loads of people coming from out of state. How do you all fit your cosplays in your bags?
Flying out from Ohio here. Columbus to be exact. This is probably the farthest thing I have travelled for yet. >.>

Hello fellow citizens of Butte County!
Hey Amanojaku! I was surprised when I saw there was someone else from around here coming.
really far, oakland lolol
Wow, nice mix!
I'm fortunate enough to live a 15-minute freeway drive away. : )
Super excited!!
20 miles, but with so much gear it takes two pickup trucks.
