And micro Klan Klein is mega moe.

<3 <3 <3 <3

You almost tainted the whole thing right there.

And yeah, while it has quite a few homages in it to SDF Macross (and Zero since episode 10 is basically all about Zero's love triangle started anew), it's fresh, it's clean and and current. Plus, who doesn't love something with VF/YF int he name that transforms? Gives me a reason to look forward to Fridays again while Bleach is doing it's thing.

Music's great in this one too, reminds me a lot of M+. Yoko Kanno is amazing at what she does.

Um yeah, it's only my third favorite anime ever ever in the world. I just wish there had been more merchandise in the dealers room. I actually couldn't find any Gurren Lagann stuff.....I probably just missed it but still they should have made it more obvious considering the guests.

There was a few items but you essentially had to ask for them specifically.

One of the "random stuff" booths had the Yoko body pillow covers and late Sunday the Bandai booth and another had a limited supply of the Revoltechs. I asked around and those were all I could find. No Boota plushie ftl.

Also, there was no showing of the english dub as apparently it's running behind in production.

You guys realize that this year's Fanime has over 15+ guests from Gainax involved in project Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, right?

And a premier of the first episode from the upcoming US release too. Wonder how that is going to pan out. English dubs of good shows. Hmm.

As for "attention". Chewie: Cosplayers are going to get asked to take their picture. Yes you're right. But cosplayers can say no. Not all cosplayers LIKE getting their picture taken. That's not even the whole point/idea of cosplay. So if someone doesn't like getting their picture taken, instead of cosplaying and saying they prefer not to get there picture taken, they should, just not cosplay? They should be forced to not do something, because they don't want their picture taken?

Sorry, that doesn't make sense, especially when THAT'S NOT THE DAMNED POINT OF COSPLAY.

If a cosplayer constantly gets pissed and bitches at people that want their picture taken, and complains that people ask to take a picture, then you'd have a point, but in general, nope, you got nothing.

Except you're generalizing. I already stated I wasn't. While I am sure there are more people who are fine with it than aren't, there are quite a few who for no other reason than being asked get upset or (at least to the person asking) get instantly annoyed.

You two missed *my* entire point, AGAIN. Fact of the matter is there are people out there who don't like attention and who can't handle being asked for pictures. It comes with the territory. If you are going to get bent when asked for a picture, then maybe you need to rethink dressing up. Yes, I said it. If you are some kind of recluse or not a people person or just don't like being photographed, you sure as fuck shouldn't be going out in public dressed as an icon from anime or science fiction movie, book, etc. Whether you love it or not is moot. You are putting yourself out there for everyone else as much as you are yourself in a setting with 10,000 some odd people. It really is that simple.

However, I'll quote myself and try to get the point across again.

No. You have spelled everything out just perfectly, especially the part where you missed my point and how I was agreeing with you almost completely.

My analogy was fine. It's along the same lines. Bottom line, if you wear it, expect attention. Not all do but some people get pissy when asked at all. Period.

Read the underlined part. I said I agreed with Jun, but I also said that not everyone was ok with being asked. It's a simple matter of different experiences but you would rather generalize that "everyone is generally ok with it until someone is annoying" when Miko and I both saying that clearly we've  had other experiences.

We get it. Really.

You should too.

If the (completely legit) script I've read on DBZ is anything like what it's going to be, they need to stop billing it as Dragonball "Z". It is Based solely around Dragonball, not Z. Kid Guko, young Chi-chi, no Vegeta and Piccolo the main baddie.

With Matrix (among others) pulling off some pretty clean flying fight scenes I don't see why this movie can't be pretty good short of a bad director/writing team running it into the ground.

As for MGS, again, not something hard to screw up.

We'll see.

Registration / Re: Yet another ID question.
May 18, 2008, 05:55:27 PM
Better question is did you guys pre-register her? If not, I thought it didn't matter about ID?

Edit in: I also do not mean to say that it doesn't matter, I am asking a two part question. It's just that*I* was under the impression the government ID thing was for pre-registering members only.

My portion of the conversation is over seeing as how instead of trying to have a civil conversation, you got quite condescending. Appreciate the effort, but I'll move on.

I totally agree. Also it gets to me when you have those people who are cosplaying but then get all pissed off when you ask to take their picture. Hello? Why'd you even cosplay if you didn't want some attention and camera time?

Wait, excuse me? Not everyone cosplaying is doing it for attention and having their photos taken. The point of cosplay is to wear a costume to portray your love for the character. Why would you get upset if they said a no to having their photo taken? It's up to them, and what their comfortable with. The only reason why any of them would get 'pissed off' is if you're being persistent about it.

I agree with everything else in the thread save this.

Cosplaying in front of a crowd of people and getting upset or being a douche when asked for a picture is the same as the girl who wears the slutty clothes and then she (or her boyfriend) gets on your ass for looking at her. Your insecurities (or whatever the hell the problem is short of someone being annoying about it) aren't everyone else's problem. You chose to do it.

I am not trying to generalize and I understand not everyone does it for everyone else but there are plenty of people out there who are instantly incensed at the thought of someone wanting a picture with them or giving them attention.

And while this isn't completely anime centric, I would like to (again?) add that hugging/touching/'glomping' without permission is wrong and deserves an ass whoopin'. Last year I saw a girl hug (or glomp or whatever, I say tackle) someone in a costume and break part of it. L2control yourselves.

Also, one more for incorrect pronunciations. Muhcross/!. Nartoe/too (yeah, no U). RANma. Just to name a few.

Booze, music and carding.

Lol

Oh, and tits help a LOT.

Helps a lot too if half the floor or more is your people and not strangers or "old" people. A beer tossed to someone 4 doors down can smooth out almost any problem.

Even if they do overturn it, give it a few more years. They can't hold out forever. While now they bicker and piss and moan about gays being able to marry they are going to soon(even if it is 3 decades too late) find out they have much bigger problems and stop worrying about peoples right to do whatever the fuck they want.

The y generation is going to turn shit around and in the next 20 years the world is going to be a much better place. Just wait for it.

At least our kids will enjoy it all.

Modesto = Failtown.   Nothing to do there.
people either, A: cruise the mall, B: Try hangin out at Boomers or C: the Fat Cat in Downtown.  and thats pretty much it. the only good thing Ive seen come outta modesto is maybe x-fest.

At what could possibly be me sounding like a hypocrite, don't knock it.

I was kidding when I said what I did and while we're definitely not SF or even Sac, we have our ups and our downs.

And having lived in cities that are anywhere from 10,000 people to 10 million, I can tell you, it all gets boring after awhile.

There is a huge music scene here as well. All kinds and creeds. Don't know what rock you live/lived under while here but that is one thing we have in abundance.
