Registration / Re: Reg Location 2017
February 28, 2017, 08:11:07 PM
LineCon is the funniest part of a Con IMO.

But yeah they cant have another situation like last year with a line wrapping up and down around a hotel ballroom.

They probably move i to Marriott, only because they wasted most of the space of the Con Centers reg area since both of the lines before last year did not exist. But obviously there was an issue last year that caused a massive line to form. If that was just because of the location of reg or hiccups on processing isn't an issue really, the main issue is that if there is another time when we get a lineCon, the old area is just far better suited for processing the line, wasted space be damned.

Its a game the weebs play where they take turns doing "ninja moves" against one another in a circle. I think the goal is to strike the body or something. Regardless its pure cancer.

You don't even know what it is and are calling it cancer?

It's a game where people stand in a circle, make a pose and in clockwise order, you do "attacks" to try and hit an opponents open hand. The attack has to be in one fluid motion but the opponent can do one fluid motion as a defensive move. It's a fun game and a staple at Fanime that brings a lot of people together. You can almost always find a game going on somewhere in the game room.

Here is a video of people playing it at Fanime from a previous year: https://youtu.be/UhRMKSX5EWI

I know what it is, just not the details. You did a much better job explaining it, though not really to far from what I put either way.
But yes what you described sounds like some high class weeb cancer.
Says one of the most negative people on this message board with over 2000 posts. OK

I sure do.
I wouldn't call myself negative, but if that is what you see me as then by all means. Am kinda curious what makes me negative beyond disliking a few things but I guess thats not really important either way

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-02-09/crunchyroll-announces-its-own-convention-after-surpassing-1-million-paid-subscribers/.111974

QuoteMedia distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Thursday that it is partnering with LeftField Media to launch a new anime convention titled Crunchyroll Expo (CRX) this year. The convention is scheduled for August 25-27 in Santa Clara, California at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Crunchyroll has launched a website for the event.

With only being 3 months apart and not even 10 miles from Downtown San Jose, this convention could have a huge impact on Fanime if it becomes a regular thing over the next fw years, assuming it stays in the same location.

Its pretty interesting though. Id like to go, but know how my wallet or time will manage it.

What ages are we talking about?
#67
I would hope it isnt broken into blocks, that is even more unfair then having to wrestle with everyone at once.
#68
Well I got my 2nd room damn easy like at least.
#69
Godspeed mate.
#70
Well I think I got the room I needed. At least I got to the page saying my reservation was complete an all the information looks correct. Still waiting on an email confirmation.

Site is crashing like a Drunk meth-head on a stormy night. This is pretty much as bad as it has always been. Priority Registration not only doesn't solve the issue with getting a hotel room, it doesn't even alleviate stress on the hotel reservation site when it goes up.

EDIT: Op just got my email confirmation

Still have to go through with this again at 10..

Hotel and Facilities / Re: 2017 Hotels....

Mine are at 7am and 10am with a registration time of about 5mins apart =P

Registration opened up sometime in November. Honestly I doubt you have any chance at a Hotel Room this late in. I imagine a good chunk of people that registered the first day wont even get a room if they didn't get it done in the first few hours. I could be wrong, but seeing how Old Hotel Reservation System worked and the New Reservation System worked last year, I'm pretty confident with my assessment.

Your best bet is to find someone else that is likely going to have a room, or if you are willing to spend the extra cash go reserve a room directly with one of the Hotels in the area. There are a few Hotels within walking distance that don't partner with Fanime, and even Fanime partnered Hotels have a few rooms off the Fanime discounted list. If really desperate you could get a room further out if you have a car or are willing to navigate public transportation.

If you are for sure going regardless of if you can get a room or not (which I imagine will only fly if you are local or get a off-list room), then you might as well save the $10(?) for your badge now. If not, you can play wait and see if you find someone with a room and not risk the waited money.

Registration / Re: Early Registration time
November 30, 2016, 05:59:31 PM
It could be true, I wouldn't be surprised.

Though I wouldn't worry too much about it, I doubt more then a few dozen at best registered before 12pm so they are not going to affect Hotel Reservation blocks too much.

Or at least I hope =P
#75
That and maybe they upgraded to a better server provider this year.
I also imagine Hotel registering requires a lot more crosschecking and processing which will increase load.

Still I got one registration done with in 5 minutes and the 2nd within 10 so if I don't get a hotel room my salt will crystallize over the whole of San Jose.
#76
Well at least it was smooth enough.
Got my 2 Badges I need Registered

I see Fanimes is terrible at communicating stuff to the public in a timely manner as usual.
#78
While I dont know Fanimes exact policy on sharing these comments cards publicly, as an aside, I honestly prefer they would be. Criticism should be public, it allows for valid criticism to not be more easily swept under the rug and others to be made aware of any criticism so they can use it to determine what events/panels they would want to go to.
