Fructose and I flaked out this year due to life and time constraints, but by 2010 we should be ready with our Jan and Luke Valentine costumes!

By all means! I wish he'd gotten a picture of your cute outfit but in the only one he took you were in like the middle of a sentence so I figured it was best to omit. XD

I only went to the Lolita panel, but it was well put-together and interesting!

Does anybody have pictures from the lolita panel/fashion show that was on saturday?

My boyfriend took a few, I posted the link in the thread for the panel but nobody seems to have noticed, haha:

(Sorry if none of those are of you, a lot of his pics were blurry.)

I was dressed as an alternate Tenth Doctor on Friday and Saturday(it wasn't a blue or brown suit, more of a black suit with white/silver pinstripes).

Anyone here got pics?

Aloha, herr Doktor.

A rather dashing display of outrage, I must say.

Great job, guys! I attended and it was really interesting and informative, and the fashion show was a treat. My boyfriend took a few pictures; most of them came out blurry due to the lighting, but I sorted through them and uploaded the best ones here: http://ddr.mytenser.com/v/fig/lolita_fashion_show/

Again, sorry if I don't have a picture of you from the fashion show, but he didn't take pictures of everyone and not all the pictures are nice and clear. Anyway, thanks lots for everyone's hard work, it was quite neat, and the only panel I was interested in seeing!

Pros:

+ Yes yes yes to the pocket guide. While we'd previously gone over the schedule online to mark what we wanted to do to put on Google Calender with SMS reminders, it was great to not have to lug the entire program guide around to check things on paper.
+ Momoi was adorable and had great energy; I'm not usually that big a fan of J-Pop, but she was so cute and enthusiastic! The glowsticks were a great way of getting the audience involved, and I really hope she had as much fun as the rest of us did.
+ Artist's Alley had some excellent innovation and variety this year, I easily spent twice the money I spent in the Dealer's Hall while getting great deals on everything. It's great seeing more original art and stuff besides the usual prints and keychain chibis.
+ The Lolita Panel and Fashion Show was neat; I went since a couple of friends were on the panel (hi, Molina and Jeanine!), and it was quite informative and neat to see the different subfashions showcased as they were.

Cons:
+ The entries at the AMV contest were kind of disappointing, especially in the Drama category, and it was tough to sit through everything just to get to the Comedy ones, which were in general the best-done.
+ Dealer's Hall: same-old, same-old. Tons of merch on the new popular series like Hetalia, not much else, no good deals. I only bought a box of mikan-flavored pocky and a mystery-box of two Higurashi posters (featuring the two characters I least wanted, naturally).
+ I guess I can't really blame anyone else for this, but there just wasn't that much in the way of panels or video programming that really grabbed my interest, and when something did, it was usually two or three things happening all at the same time followed by hours of nothing. Maybe I just need to expand my horizons?
+ The signs, as other people have noted, seemed to be back with a vengeance this year. No, sir, you cannot be my bishie, and I will not guess your gender for a $1 "wrong fee." And absolutely NO HUGS. (Also, can people get over "the game" already?)

Maybe I'm just growing out of it a little bit; aside from a few select events and getting all dolled up in costume, I had a hard time getting as enthusiastic about things this year as I have in previous years. Kudos to everybody who made it run smoothly, though!

@Sucrose - That picture might be too small.  I need to crop it vertically, so it gets dinky once I do.

Bugger. I thought you had magic powers, Suspi! Alright, let's see what I can drum up...

Will this:

or this:

work? I don't particularly care which. (P.S. Thanks bunches.)

Man, I'd totally forgotten about these. I guess I'll have y'all do me one even though I haven't posted in ages.

Board name and avatar are fine. I hope the image isn't too small, I tried to find something bigger but nice splash images for what I like seem to be hard to come by. If this doesn't work, though, I'll find summat else.

Video Programming / Re: Live-Action Suggestions
August 21, 2008, 04:23:55 PM
Definitely adding my votes for Kimi Wa Pet, Princess Princess D, Coffee Prince, and Hana-Kimi. Also, if they're available, I'd like to suggest the Antique Bakery live-action series, as well as Fruit Chan's horror movie "Dumplings," if it isn't too explicit for Fanime.

I'm sort of hoping by then they'll be able to move on to more productive methods of asserting their faith. =/

My group was on the 7th floor of the Marriott, and usually we had to wait for a few elevators to go by before one would arrive that we could get on. The annoying thing was when there was obviously plenty of space in the elevator but all the people would crowd towards the front of it so that it looked like nobody else could get in...obviously they were pretty packed on Monday around checkout time and everybody had Tons o' Stuff to tow out to their cars, but most people on the elevators were really rude to us while we were waiting with our own selection of belongings. The doors would open and they would all go "NO YOU CAN'T GET ON WAIT FOR ANOTHER ONE" and only one elevator had somebody who said "sorry!" when the doors closed (pointless, but it was nice to get some sympathy).

One finally came with three or so dudes on it, and we all got up with our junk to load it on, since there was plenty of space...and one of the dudes hit the "close door" button and it shut before any of us could get on. We ended up taking the stairs, which wasn't so bad since we were on the 7th floor, but we had lots of heavy baggage and I was dumb enough to still be in costume with a compression vest on that made it really hard to breathe properly (and with no easy way to take it off until we found a bathroom) once we finally hit the bottom. That part was my own fault, but it just seems a shame. What happened to sharing and caring?

Dealers Room / Re: Sooo...What Did You Guys Buy?
May 29, 2008, 10:55:42 PM
I rarely buy much in general, and this year I spent more in the Artists' Alley than in the Dealers' Room. I did, however, buy a "Cheese Family" shirt at the MonoKuro Boo booth, because I love those damn pigcubes and everything associated with them. (If I drank at all, I TOTALLY would've dropped some cash on the "cutest beer in the world" tee, that was adorable.)

Okiedokie, this is a long shot since we didn't get too many outside pictures, but you never know 'til you try. I'm on the lookout for pictures of Ginko and Sui from Mushishi (episode 2), and of boy-uniform Mikoto and cheerleader Toru from Princess Princess, as pairs or singly. The few of y'all who knew who we were warm the cockles of my shriveled little black heart, truly.
Lol.
Here is the one I took. XP
And: Mushishi/Harvest Moon crossover XP

Thaaaanks. I can always count on you, Sunara. *starry eyes* I've got a picture of you aqui, but it's sadly kind of blurry because my camera hates the concourse and I forgot about the flash.

I was a little disappointed that other than the artwork, this year's design was really close to last year's; I liked last year's better, frankly. The past few years have been pretty similar in a lot of ways, actually, now that I look at them. Next year it would be cool to see something different, like a big change, or at least a different background color from dark blue.

I sort of disliked the whole lanyard business instead of the neato clips like there were before, but I know it was probably in an effort to get people to keep their badges visible and harder to lose and all. (Even though I took mine out of the sleeve and safety-pinned it to my purse anyway...)

Anime schedule was weird.  Absolutely everything interesting was shown in the early morning (like 8 am or earlier).  I realize that's my preference and whatnot, but yeah... that was strange.  We actually ended up watching NO anime (at the con) this year due to weird scheduling.  Watched anime instead in our hotel room.

Bishie bingo attendees don't know wtf a chair is for, i.e.: you SIT in it so that people BEHIND YOU can SEE.  If you're a 6' guy, why the fuck do you need to stand on a chair?  Also they created a fire hazard by rushing the center aisle.  Everyone was standing on a chair, which made seeing the front impossible.  Ended up yanking a chair off the end and dragging it to the side aisle because I couldn't see a damn thing.  It would help if the strippers had a stage to stand on.  They did this one year; I'm not sure why they stopped.

IAWTC. Our group barely saw anything because most of what we wanted to see was waaaay early. But yeah, I guess that's just a preference thing and not really something that can be changed.

We ended up sitting in the way back during Yaoi Bingo and yeah, we couldn't see any of the action because of so many people standing. I'd never attended before, and found the whole thing rather weird. The announcer lady seemed very harried and kind of mean to attendees, and since we couldn't see anything it kind of eliminated the whole point of attending in the first place.

We missed ya, Lizzo. Hopefully you'll be able to come next year, though! :3

Oh, I had no idea there was another Ginko, I'm sorry I missed him! No, me and my Sui looked like this and as Miko and Toru we looked like this. Thank you for trying, though!

My favorite hands-down was the Harvest Moon guy walking around and doing the proposal pose with people who asked to take pictures of him. That was freaking adorable and made me giggle so hard. Rock on, Harvest Moon guy.

I tried finding him because I was crossplaying Nami from Wonderful Life! I was so disappointed. :(
Aw, what a shame you missed him! That would have been delightful.
