Registration / Group Registration ???s
September 07, 2006, 01:56:51 PM
Thanks Aya for bringing this post to my attention.

The group registration is still being worked on. I'm aware that "worked on" isn't very specific and I can't give you details on it just yet (I wouldn't want to say one thing and then change it later on). With that said, if for some reason, October 31st comes and passes and group reg isn't up, I will keep the group registration at the current price point for at least two weeks when it does come up.

Registration / Correction on Fanime Flyers
July 15, 2006, 11:52:09 AM
There has been a printing error on the flyers that Fanime passed out at Anime Expo and Sac Anime that has the "final date" for registration at the 40 dollar rate ending in November 2007. This is incorrect and the correct date is October 31st, 2006.

Fanime apologizes for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Ideas and Suggestions / Signs policy?
July 12, 2006, 10:12:12 AM
Quote from: "Duo"signs can be an addittion to a cosplay..for instance for those who know of Furuba/Frutis basket..

in my group of cosplayers we had no Kyou, naturally as a Kagura I had to figure out something creative..

so I carried a sign that said 'Have you seen my kyou-kun?' and lined it with hearts, with hsi picture of course. that was considered a signbut it was also a prop  as I walked the halls searchign for a Kyou

But something like that isn't as bad as swearing/cussing, signs that are rude, or soliciting signs.

We had a 60 GB ipod on shuffle (I think it was mostly filled). Unfortunately, that means that we don't have any kind of list of what songs were played. =)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I would say that the staff has been busy reading the posts but I'm sure that you've seen them post (even if you only read one page!).

Next year, the FanimeCon staff promise bigger and better things. All excuses aside, keep all of the positive comments coming. Just please don't assume that:

A) Fanime has a million extra dollars lying around.
B) Your opinions and such are fact. It's ok to give us your opinions, but please keep it PG.

Notes for current and future attendees:

1) Fanime management always pays attention to what happens before, during, and after the convention. There are staffers (like myself :P) that work year-round. Ask anyone that has emailed registration@fanime (there's a 1/5 chance that I answered your email personally) or my email (milton@fanime). If you have a suggestion, post it in the suggestions forum or in threads like these. This is how we get events and ideas like Stage Zero, a bigger e-gaming and arcade room, more dealers, etc.

2) If you have a problem, ask a staff member for help. If that staff member is being rude to you, get his badge number. For all staff and attendees, the badge number is a four digit alphanumeric digit on the left side of the badge (if it's laminated) or on the bottom left (if it's not laminated). The number was put there so reports of harassment (and etc.) could be reported without having to remember a person's full name.

--

Ok, now to answer concerns that relate to any department that I handle (as I don't want to step on the other two division head's toes and answer their questions):

- Schedules: As PimpstressRei (Department Head - Publications) said, schedules will be in a bigger font next year (huge compared to this year ;)). Fluffy died and we had no back-up plan. DOH! Bad planning on my behalf. Jason (Division Head - Programming) already promised that we would have schedules two weeks before Fanime '07. If he doesn't stick to his words, I will have a public grilling on Stage Zero. Oh wait, he has ultimate say on what happens at Stage Zero... so uhh... I'll "try" to have one. Hopefully, we won't have to think about that at all.

- Registration: We are adding on two booths next year. I believe that we will be at our limit of booths in the registration area. Two booths equals four more staffers able to take registration. Hopefully, this will short the lines down to an even more respectable level. This year, we shortened the lines down by at least two hours from Fanime '05. No excuses, just facts. If you have any suggestions on how to get the lines down even further, please post here or email registration@fanime

Just so you guys know, if you ever have a suggestion for staff, you could always reply to this thread, make a thread on the "suggestions" board, or email them (their email address is always departmentname@fanime.com).

Enjoy! =)

Quote from: "damatte"-Artist Alley, someway for minors to participate too, how the heck is some of us going to sell our stuff if we can't get a seller's permit? What're we supposed to do? Hook up with some other table? Ask our parents???
I believe that the seller's permit is a San Jose thing (read: LEGAL).

Registration / Re: A bit peeved at this year's reg
June 13, 2006, 01:40:16 PM
Quote from: "GokuMew2"Hi. Was a bit pissed at reg this year.
I registered with a group of friends and I was the group "leader." Came with some of them to pick up some of our group members' badges (the people who were with us at the time plus one person's who wasn't with us-- the rest were gonna pick up on their own). Anyway, I had the receipt and told the staffer at reg (yes, it was a staff member, not a volunteer) that we wanted to pick up our badges, plus one person's who wasn't with us because he won't be able to make it to the con so we'd like to make good use of it.

The staffer would not let us pick up his badge. If we couldn't pick it up, it'd just go to waste because that member couldn't come to the con. No matter what we said, the staffer insisted that we needed his photo ID to pick it up. Obviously we didn't have that so we tried to get her to let us take the badge again, and she said we couldn't, saying that Fanime will mail him the badge. Um, okay.... But we've already said he couldn't come to the con and no way would the badge arrive in time to actually be used at the convention. "But at least he'll have his badge," says the staffer. But it does us no good if the con is OVER! *siiiiiiiigh*

So there was $40 wasted.

Aren't we supposed to be able to pick up group members' badges?! I just went back to an old entry to confirm and the staff person who replied in that thread said that we could. What the heck!?

So there you have it, my beef with reg this year. This is the only time I've ever had a problem with the con. Everything else was fine.

I apologize for your experience but you need to have each person's ID to pick up their badge. This was a change that was made (and is plastered all over the Registration pages) due to members of previous years causing mayhem with badges that didn't belong to them.

Keep in mind that it is against Badge Policy for someone to have a badge with another member's name.

Next year (I hope there is a next year for you and your group), if someone isn't going to be going to con, email registration[at]fanime[dot]com to get their information changed to someone else who will be going.

Registration / So ummm.. When's 2007 Registration?
June 02, 2006, 10:24:23 PM
Quote from: "Barnes"
Quote from: "FanFicGuru"They had it for 35 on Monday afternoon for like, an hour...

but yeah, I'm a bit curious to that as well. ^_^

Agh! You're serious? Where?

We had pre-registration at Fanime '06 for '07 open for a few hours. We kept it open until people stopped coming and we announced it all over the place.

Next year, there will be a set time and date for it though. ^_^

As for the Fanime '07 Pre-Reg website... We're aiming for mid-June so please wait for it. ^_^

I should go through the list of badges and see who is lying about their badge*. :P

*Meant to be a joke; I'm not accusing anyone of actually lying. :P

Quote from: "ILuvHeijiHattori"I almost lost my badge 4 times throughout the con and its nice people picked up my badge and handed it back to me.
But the problem is the pin. It comes off over and over.

I thought that next year, maybe we can have badges like JTAF. Have them around your neck?

Registration staples the badge together so they do not fall out.

Registration / During Fanime
May 25, 2006, 09:02:24 AM
Remember that during Fanime 99% of the staff will be working Registration and as such, can't answer emails or reply to forum posts, so please make use of the search feature or read through http://www.fanime.com/registration

Gaming / Tournament Arcades Are a "No-Go"
May 03, 2006, 05:22:31 PM
Quote from: "zoupzuop2"Ack. This means the DDR tourney is a flop...

...wait. They regulated against Fanime having tourneys. Does this mean that the Con-goers can't organize tourneys amongst themselves? "Inofficial" tournaments? Or is there no organized play altogether?

PassingTheBuck should be here to answer that question. :P

In the meantime, I'm going to go with the following response:
Nothing that ties up any machine from the public can be done.

Registration / Re: Help, please
May 03, 2006, 10:25:58 AM
Quote from: "DeathWish89"From the looks of it, forum posting is ten times faster than emailing.

I sent a check for the preregisters last week on tuesday but it says that I haven't payed at all! Much to my doubts, I don't think that it's because of the person who wrote it because it was a check sent in by my grandmother, noting that it was for me.

Though I do believe that it's because of the fact that I forgot to add my account number on it.

Must I have the check back to have it fixed? Send a new one? Or have the staff fix it?

If I have to resend it, I think I only have till May 4th, ne? ;;

We have received your email, fyi, but I'll just reply to it here. :D
If there is a note saying that it's for you, we'll look up your name in the database and mark it as paid. Please wait another 4-5 business days in order to process all checks. Thanks. :)

Gaming / Tournament Arcades Are a "No-Go"
May 03, 2006, 10:22:09 AM
Sorry, but the arcade owners have asked Fanime NOT to have any tournaments on their arcades. This may change for the upcoming years, but for Fanime '06, there will not be any arcade tournaments.

[Edit: This applies to Fanime '07. Sorry! :(]

Registration / About child's reg.
April 30, 2006, 05:50:05 PM
Quote from: "CuteMew"Will child's passes be available on Thursday during pre-reg check-in?  Last year I don't think I was able to get one since children's passes aren't pre-registered.  So, if I get my badge on Thursday, is there any place I can go directly to get the child's pass without having to wait in line all over again?

Yes, you will be able to get Child memberships if you are picking up a pre-reg or early-reg badge.
