Things in the Universe / Christmas Plans
« on: December 04, 2013, 02:24:04 AM »
What are you guys doing for Christmas? Travelling far to visit family? Working? Any special traditions?

I haven't quite decided what to do yet. A friend wants to go to an Okinawan restaurant, but we already ate there for Thanksgiving. I kinda wanna go to a maid cafe, but I don't think those joints are open on Christmas...

Things in the Universe / Have You Checked This Out
« on: September 16, 2013, 06:02:57 AM »
http://www.mitsuku.com/

Its basically a bot that you can chat with. It's humorous to an extent. I tried asking her about her opinions on Obama and the wars, she said she didn't care for politics. I tried talking about Cheers but she just derailed it.

Human: Whats you favorite show?
Mitsuku: My favorite show is Star Trek Voyager.
Human: Mine is Cheers
Mitsuku: I like that one and Star Trek too.
Human: Who is your favorite character on Cheers?
Mitsuku: I like Harry Potter. He seems to have some great adventures.
Human: Harry Potter isn't on Cheers...
Mitsuku: He is also a fictional wizard in the stories by J.K. Rowling.
Human: Thats beside the point, we're talking about Cheers...
Mitsuku: Ah that's what it is.

Not even bots wanna talk about Cheers.

Anyways, you should try it out.

General Convention Discussion / Where Do You Eat at FanimeCon?
« on: July 27, 2013, 12:05:03 PM »
I'm awfully curious about this, because I was working at a pizza restaurant, Extreme Pizza, back in 2011. Man, there was no busier weekend than FanimeCon, but I sure enjoyed making pizza!

Happy Things in the Happy Universe / Feeling a bit bummed out, man
« on: May 19, 2013, 03:47:13 PM »
I'm in North Carolina right now, no hills, all trees. I wish I can go back home for Fanime, but I'm not allowed to travel that far. There is a convention in NC but I'm not sure if its as good, plus going there would just make me more home sick. I'm looking forward to getting stationed in Japan, but I hear due to a lot of servicemembers have been raping and killing young girls. We're on a strict set of rules. I'd go into more detail about it, but it'll just bum me out even more.

Come one fellas cheer up this young Marine! Promise me you'll take a lot of kickass pics!

Things in the Universe / Who Likes To Read?
« on: May 16, 2012, 10:10:15 AM »
Anyone read occasionally? What are your favorite books, authors, genres, etc.

I like Stephen King, I have books 1-5 of the Dark Tower series and The Tommyknockers. Has anyone read Johannes Cabal The Necromancer or Anno Dracula?

Obviously by my selection above, I'm a fan of horror.

Things in the Universe / Who here loves Mexican food?
« on: January 07, 2010, 07:00:30 PM »
I sure as hell love it.

Discuss some great authentic Mexican food you've had.

Hell, the food is one of the top five reasons why I go to Mexico. Nothing can measure up to the delicousness of it, especially when it's homemade. I love hot sauce!

Things in the Universe / How are you this holiday season?
« on: December 29, 2009, 03:19:37 PM »
How were your holidays? So what did you get? From who? And what did you get for who?

All was well for me. A couple of relatives came over, we played Guitar Hero for hours until it was midnight and then we opened our presents.

Here is a few things I got.

iPod Touch and $65 iTunes money, from my mom and dad.
Rebuild of Evangelion 1.01 from my mom.
An ACDC jacket from my mom.
My uncle sent me Wolfenstein for the 360.

I feel bad because I wasn't able to get them anything. Next year I'll work extra hard to earn enough money to get what they want.

The Idolm@ster is a music game ported from the arcade to Xbox360™. The game lets players create and manage cute singing sensations. Choose from a number of available girls, dress her up in your favorite way, train her how to sing and dance and try to make a big star out of her.

Despite the short turnaround time to turn your girl into a star within just a few week, the home console edition now lets you produce your idol within one year. Also included are updated visuals, animations and new songs.

Quote
For a videogame, the iDOM@STER is legendary. Not so much because it tackles a subject matter unheard of in this medium - a producer tasked with transforming 10 girls into national idols. Or, that it has spawned CD singles, radio dramas and various cute merchandise since its late 2005 debut in Japanese arcades. But because it left my younger brother impressed: "How come the grpahics so real?" The cartoon dollies' uncannily natural animation had clearly resonated with him. Mind you, this was the same young person who walked in on me during a Gears of War multiplayer match only to stand dispassionately as I tore two humans apart with a shotgun. before silently retreating to his preferred creature comfort, Maple Story. Now that I had his attention, I might as well conduct an operation hook, line and sinker. Off to a gruelling six-player audition we go!

Passing the audition - an exercise infusing, rhythm-based action with the realtime resource rationing of Football Manager - led to a stunning song and dance, which my brother watched with a pleasant glint in his eye. Careful not to startle my prey, I gently motioned for him to give it a try. "No thanks; I don't know Japanese," he amicably replied before turning away. What audacity! At least let me explain how entirely possible it was to enjoy the game without knowing a word of Japanese.

So its something of a rhythm music game but in a way its like a sim right?

General Anime Chat / Can anyone suggest me some anime OST sites?
« on: September 01, 2008, 07:23:23 PM »
I can't find a site that can just let me download a single song from a anime ost. Other websites I've tried either didn't have what I was looking for and require me to download the whole album. PM me a link please.
