Fanime comes every year and is the mother of anime conventions here in Northern California. It is a getaway from the real world where

you don't have to deal with conflicts and BS at a job or to relieve pressure and subject struggles from school. Every year something will be

new such as guests, anime programming and video games. Also entertaining from the randomness of the attendees to hilarious to cold

monlogues we say amongst our friends that people in the real world take it as a offense. This year I will expect something at that nature

and will enjoy every bit of it.

It was Fanime of 2006 and I was a volunteer that year. I was staying at the Marriott along with other friends. On that Saturday morning I decided to shave and the fuzz on the bottom of my face tells it all. So I picked up my Gillette attached a new cartridge blade, put on some shaving gel and let the water run. Three minutes already had gone by, when I started to work on my upper chin area I over stroked and knicked my lower lip. Blood was dripping out, so I grabbed a cold wet towel and applied pressure on the cut. Thirty minutes later it stopped. *For The Moment* I decided to go get breakfast at the Mc Donalds. I ordered the Deluxe Breakfast meal and ate there. I started to work on the scrambled eggs, took a bite out of the sausage patty, took 3 sips of coffee, nibbled on my biscuitt, took 3 bite size pieces of my hotcakes, wiped my mouth and all of sudden. "OH $&*#!" blood dripping out again, on my napkin and on my hotcakes. So I put the lid back on my breakfast threw it in the trash, took a sip of coffee then threw it in the trash and ran out the door. Mercy I needed medical attention.

I was hoping that there would be a First Aid station available nearby but the blood dripping can not be contained with only 1 napkin on hand. Then I realized that there was a Walgreens nearby. As a wounded con attendee I hightailed it on N. First St. dripping blood. When I finally got to the Walgreens I asked the sales associate where are the medical supplies she points out the aisle and thank goodness relief finally. I purchased a can of bandage spray to contained the wound. I sprayed some on that one napkin and dabbed it on the wounded lower lip. I repeated it a couple more times throughout the rest of the weekend and walked around with a blood clot remnant of that knick I sustained while shaving. This will be one of those con moments that I'll never forget and will learn from it.

Do like things open later in the con, do not like having to go out to that sketchy McDonalds at night lol
"I shall close the Mc Donalds down throughout the con and ya'll can have your happy meal elswhere.."

Sophie Crepes it is @ Fanime 2010 = Make It Happen...
#388
How about this, Let's Invite the crew of Sophie's Crepes from San Francisco's Japantown have them set up a booth in the convention center somewhere where they can serve their delicious crepe deserts. (I reccommend the ice cream crepes) have them experience Fanime for the first time and perhaps have them give you a lecture on what Japanese crepes are.

Somewhat of a tangent, but it's pretty much an understanding that the Shark's street banners will go up around Downtown San Jose if they make it that far - replacing ours.  :P

if anything I vote that at lease one fanime banner is to stay up all year round.  :D

They should at least have a couple of banners in front of the convention center.
Now fellas don't worry, year after year the Fanime banners are put up during the week of the convention within the perimeters of the convention center and hotels. The Sharks banners will always be up in the Downtown area and the vicinity of the HP pavilion to represent the team.

Yeah, don't blame Fanime...BLAME AX!
I would be surprised if the Sharks meet the LA Kings(7) in the Stanley Cup Conference Finals and fans from AX came to Fanime wearing a kings jersey. The outcome:

Penalties 78:00:00  Roughing
                           Slashing errr Clawing
                           Tripping
                           Charging

It has been 6 years where San Jose hosted an anime convention (FANIME) and within those years the San Jose Sharks made the playoffs and not one playoff game was held in late May ???. It's another year and we still don't know if it will be deja vu all over again and if it is the same omen year after year that the hockey gods are sensing the otaku's presence in late May then the sharks advancement late in the playoffs heading in the finals has still yet to be determined. This year is going to change the Stanley Cup Playoffs along with Fanime 2010 all in one weekend. "Your thoughts should this happen"

Day 0 is for all the sweet hotel parties

duh
Dude, Save it for Sunday night allright.

Why do attendees attend Day Zero when this day is only for the following:
People who pre-reg want their badges early
     Staffers
     Dealers
     Press
     Guest relations
     Security
     People involved in Swap Meet
The actual day the con starts is Friday morning around 10 AM, Can an attendee hold till then... Day Zero should only pertain to the list above and I still say that Attendees should follow con tradition and start the fun Friday going into Monday.
There should be a rule change about attendees at day zero because the true events don't start till days 1, 2, 3, 4
