Clockwork Alchemy has its own staff, and of course brings in its own attendees.
We are not taking any attention away from the Staff that focuses on FanimeCon.

I cannot speak to whatever issues may be delaying FanimeCon's website launch, as I
have not been involved with their web team. I only worked on the Clockwork Alchemy website.

I was hoping to do some work with Clockwork Alchemy next year.  Do you send rovers over there?

It isn't too early to email [email protected] and expressing your interest.

Registration / Re: Lines on Day 0

They haven't posted the hours yet for Thursday, have they?  4:00pm is rather late, considering that I need to get my badge and then prepare for the Swap Meet which is over at the Fairmont, and set-up begins at 6:00pm.  The sooner I get my badge the easier I can relax a little, so being in line early will help.  And I'm sure there will be people waiting in line on Thursday at maybe 9:00am.

If I recall correctly, those who signed up for the Swap Meet pick up their badges at the Swap Meet, instead of having to wait in line... Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh well, I was wrong.

If we're comparing it in Disneyland style terms... We aren't selling any single park passes - all of our passes are "park hopper" passes, regardless of if it's a single day or full weekend.

(Fun fact: I confused myself for a second while typing up this post!)

If we're using Disneyland style terms, I prefer to think of Clockwork Alchemy and FanimeCon as like when ToonTown was added to Disneyland. Still one membership, but with new content.

Dealers Room / Re: Dealers Room vs Swap Meet

I know this might seem like a dumb question ...
but, Could anyone tell me where the Swap Meet is held?
I've wanted to go check it out in the past, but was never able to find out
where it was located or what time it starts.

If someone could fill me in on this info it would be highly appreciated!

Last year it was in the gaming room.

It hasn't been announced where it will be this year that I am aware of.

I'm not a moderator but I do know a bit more. The promo code is CA2012 the code allows you to pick up your badge at the Double Tree on thursday, it also means that your main reason for going to Fanime Is because of Clockwork Alchemy (Or at least that's how it was explained to me, please correct me if I'm wrong). I don't have much more information than that. If you have anymore questions I suggest asking the Steam Federation on their face page. http://www.facebook.com/groups/steamfederation/

The Clockwork Alchemy group would be a better place to direct questions.

Also do note that the DoubleTree will be hosting Clockwork Alchemy. So it is a great place to stay if you are interested in the delightful eccentricities of steampunk. But if you, for some reason, want to avoid top hats and bustle skirts, then one of the other hotels will likely be a better bet.

I just BARELY missed out on the room I wanted at a different hotel so I booked at the Double Tree instead, should I email Housing and ask to be put on a waiting list just in case rooms open up closer to the con date?

Remember that at the DoubleTree, you will be surrounded by Steampunks. =-)

Is there a specific time today that prereg opens? Or hotel?

The announcement said noon, PST for prereg. So I would expect it to be at noon.

The biggest "harm" about having people's real names on badges is that most medium- and high-profile cosplayers DO NOT WANT THEIR REAL IDENTITY REVEALED. As a result, they don't ever have their badge showing (or don't pay for one at all). This group is a minority, but is the highlight of Fanime (IMO).

Really? I thought they didn't have their badge showing because it screws up their cosplay...

If you don't want your badge showing, put it in your pocket.
Pull it out when you go through a door.
And then put it back in your pocket.

Busy, busy, busy.

Vallejo Pirate faire this weekend. My Steampunk group will be at CombatCon in Vegas next weekend. ( Though I won't be with them. ) Then Westercon the following weekend at the SJ Fairmont. Then it will quiet down a bit until Steamcon in Seattle in October, and then it picks up again with Dickens, the Edwardian Ball, DunDraCon, and the Nova Albion Steampunk Exhibition before Fanime 2012 comes back around.

Under 18 Badge Pick up.  For the last 3 years my kids have had a rough time picking up their Pre-Registered badges at Fanime because they have their school I.D. and not a driver's licence. The staff always asks for Government Issued ID.  Well, Public School is a government institution so it in any event it should be considered a government issued I.D.  If my kid has the printed receipt and a school ID to confirm his or her identification that should be proof enough.  This year I did a group registration so I, the parent picked them up.  I do not want to do it again next year.  I only get through to these staffers after I ask for their supervisor and ask them how a 15 and 16 year olds is supposed to have a driver's license?

Another stickler is the AA staff.  Again the Government issued ID again.  I as a parent signed them in.  Paid for the table and had all the paper work together for a 16 and a 17 year old artists.  Again, I had the paid receipts, Sellers Permit, and a parent check in statement.  Mind you I was also there in person to check them in and the staff still insisted on seeing a government issued ID.  They had their student ID with them .  THESE IDS HAVE THEIR NAME AND PICTURE ON THEM SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE DEAL WAS.  Only after some annoying discussion with 3 other people were we able to check in at AA.  It is easier to go through the Airport Security than to get in to the Fanime Convention and Fanime AA.

You can get a state-issued ID card at any age.

It was part of opening ceremonies. I don't know if the contents of opening ceremonies were detailed in the schedule.

During the closing ceremony, they announced the 2012 theme as being 'Sports'.

I pack relatively light.

A change of shirt, trousers and underthings for every day.
( Top hat, waist coat, frock coat and accessories are worn, don't need to be packed. )
A pair of nice shoes, as worn combat boots aren't quite so nice for the Black & White Ball.
Costume pieces. This year it is a crow-beak respirator, last year it was the Steampunk clawed glove ( which if I can repair in time, will make another appearance )
Toiletries
Make up
Phone/battery Chargers
An ice chest with food. Cereal, peanut butter, bread, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit.
Camera and mono-pod.

Most important things: a 6-pack of 5-hour Energy shots and a bottle of Alleve

If I'm bringing recently-finished projects to a con, I'll bring a repair kit. But the glove I know is fragile, and the mask I know is sturdy, so won't bring them this time.

So, 1 suit case, one chest of food.

Absolutely, Cthulhu will end the war on terror.

Terror will be all the world knows until the end of time, once Cthulhu is elected. And thus the war will be ended.
