Last year, the policy was that one of YOUR legal guardians had to be behind the table with you at all times, which means that your friend would need a parent or legal guardian too. That policy sucks. My sister was a couple days away from turning eighteen last year, but it didn't matter. I actually had to become her temporary legal guardian for the weekend for her to be able to help me. Look into temporary legal guardianship. It involves signing a contract and getting it notarized.

The company cut the card too close at the bottom so i'm waiting for reprints wooh.. but you can see the type of info i put down, and how i resolved pen name vs real name. (although it's even more annoying for me cause i have TWO internet aliases now ~_~)

I don't put much on my cards 'cause I don't like it when it's too busy. Basically, I put what you mentioned and a little more like my signature, and a quote of mine for good measure.
I figure if they're taking my business card, they already kinda have an idea of what I'm doing, so I don't need to add that.

That is a good point. At conventions and the like, no you don't really need to put what you do on the card, but I give also my business cards to local businesses and places like that to set out, so my profession needs to be on the card. It really depends on the situation.

I put what I do on there too, like 'Cartoonist, illustrator, graphic designer' things like that.

I also got double sided business cards, and used the back as a tiny gallery, using little thumbnails of some of my work. Admittedly, the double sided option is more expensive, but it looks really cool.

I know this doesn't have much to do with prints, but I thought it might interest some of you who are just starting out (like me!) and wanna look professional on the cheap. On another note, my dad gave me his old photo printer (the HP Photosmart A617) since he was getting a new one. I didn't have very high hopes for it, as it's like five years old, but it's been working great. I wasn't planning on making any 4x6 prints, but after this thread I kinda wanted to. One ink cartridge prints about 40 at maximum settings, but apparently if you select 'best' instead of 'maximum dpi', it prints more like 80 without losing print quality.

And, I feel like a lot of people would just want to roll up an 11x17 in order to save room, though this is my first Artist Alley, so I am only guessing. Anyone else have experience with how many people actually want bags for their prints? Trying to figure out how many of these I should be getting.

I know I've seen some posts recently somewhere here on the forum from a photographer who is going to set up requests for photoshoots, but I haven't been able to find those posts.  I did find this old thread from someone with the same (similar) question and maybe it will help you.  One piece of advice was to check the Cosplay.com site as well.

The graphics may be crappy, but that's not really what it's about. You can build whatever you want piece by piece. Castles, ships, entire cities, whatever. That's how it appeals to me, anyway. It's like getting to do all the stuff I wished I could when I was a kid.

Your doing bioshock!!! Yay, anything with Big daddy???

One of my pieces features a Big Daddy being pulled along by a Little Sister, actually, haha. Most of the other stuff for Bioshock will be aged looking advertisement posters though, like for Dr. Steinman and the Masquerade Ball. Same thing with Fallout. Lots of Nuka Cola ads and whatnot.

Personally, I'll be doing Zelda and Minecraft for sure. Not sure if anybody will be interested the Minecraft stuff, but my Minecraft art is most popular on dA so it just makes sense to me 9___6
I might do BBC Sherlock prints, too.

Minecraft will definitely sell well. It's gotten pretty damn popular, especially among the nerd crowd (including Anime geeks). I'll be doing some Minecraft stuff too.  Most of my stuff seems to be from games like Portal, Fallout, Bioshock, and the like though.

Not gonna quote that, cause it's so long, but...

You say 'catering to customers' a lot. I think that the artists in the artist alley mainly draw what they like, not just what's popular. If anything, they are catering to themselves. For example, this is indeed an anime convention, yet about 99% of the pieces I will be selling have to do with video games and other non-anime related things. Just because someone is doing fanart doesn't mean they're just doing it for money. That's what they like to do.

Also, the Dealer's Hall isn't for art, it's for merchandise. We couldn't sell our drawings or handmade crafts in there, because that's not what it's for. Even the bigger names like SNAFU-Comics and Shark Robot are in the artist Alley, because it's original artwork, not an officially licensed product.

I think the stuff you've chosen will sell just fine. MLP has pretty much exploded in the last year, so I'm guessing it'll sell like crazy. Legend of Zelda, 90's anime, Vocaloid, lots of stuff on there will be great for Fanime.

Not really much to do with anime or anything convention-esque, so I highly doubt it.

I am in need of anyone who can make me a costume. It is easy but I have hard time to find it. I really wanted to dress up fred abberline from black butler. I notice I am missing the coat. Btw what the kind of hat is he wearing. I dont know how it called, so I hopefully can find it easy.

Funnily enough, I'm not really working on much, if any anime fanart. Closest thing to anime I'm doing would be Avatar: The Last Airbender, and that's not even really an Anime. Mostly doing stuff from video games, since that's more where my interest lies, and is usually what I go to conventions for. Fanime might be for anime, but the gaming community there is alive and strong. So, Portal 2 references, here I come. lol.

And yeah, I agree that doing Pony stuff would be a good way to go, considering how fast that fandom grew recently. Not really my thing, but definitely a good idea for others to do, and I'm guessing we'll be seeing a lot of it this year.

This might sound odd, but where can I find a plain blue dress for a reasonable price? I can only find stuff that already has designs on it or the fabric is cut in such a way that it's not usable.

I want to cosplay as the TARDIS. My idea was to find a plain navy blue dress, and just use fabric paint for the details. Then I would have a headband with the light thingie.

Also, if anyone has any tips on how to do the headband, that would be awesome. It would be extra cool if I could actually get it to light up, but I know that might be difficult.

I can't seem to find it on their website, but Radio Shack sells these small little portable LED lights. They're shaped like a tiny muffin, and you twist the bottom to turn on the light. They're super bright, and lasts like 140 hours. No wired required. I used them when I made a Portal gun a few years back. They work great.

Also, great costume idea. I'll keep an eye out for you!

I'm not exactly a fan of the whole Pony thing, but I know a LOT of people are, so stuff like that would sell.

Maybe you could do pony commissions. Sketch people as ponies or something. I haven't seen that before, and it would probably sell really well at anima conventions.

The pixel art is cool too. Combining that with your cute art style would be great.
