I see that AA hasn't improved much. Not really surprised, though.

One week left or they won't be able to notify artists before their announced deadline for requiring payments.

halfway through March and no idea of when results will be announced. They won't even give out an ETA on results because they don't want to introduce the possibility of them being late.

Fanime, as it states in its slogan, is "by fans, for fans." This is actually a big deal, considering some of the largest cons are basically run by organizations and corporations these days. Which, while that gives those conventions more power in the guest relations department, it can also take away a lot of control from the people who attend the event. Fanime has the advantage that they can listen to their attendees, because they don't have bigger organizations as their primary interest. They're fan-focused.

Fanime is run by a corporation, too. They really hate advertising it though. You won't see any mention of the organization that runs Fanime on their own website. Any distinction anyone draws between Fanime being a fan-run event and other cons being "Corporate" events is purely cosmetic and more than a little misleading.

This is exactly the same quote as last year. They plan to use this selection for future cons as stated last year. There were too many participants and not enough tables. But then again, if they used the original artist alley location, that would be great and have even more room.

They won't use the original location because that space is for dealers hall now.

Because putting the Artists Alley in the same room as the Dealer's room is clearly madness and no anime convention could ever pull that off.

Does anyone know when registration will open for artist ally?

IT'S HAPPENING.

That's a good point. The checkin line on Friday was so long that even as the room was getting ready to open to the public, artists were still trying to set up because the artist registration system was so slow.

They really need to allow artists to register on Day 0. Even if we can't set up tables, getting that part out of the way would avoid the logjam on Friday morning.
