Panels and Workshops / Re: Fanime Rocky Horror anyone?
« on: January 29, 2015, 02:19:43 PM »
Just a thought, given the interactive nature of RHPS, submitting this as a fan event might be a better option for you.

I'm not on panels staff though, so I might be wrong.

Panels and Workshops / 3 panels submitted... I must be out of my mind
« on: January 29, 2015, 02:18:11 PM »
Attempting to return from last year...

Cthulhu for President! (tied for longest running panel series, if my info is correct)
Badasses of Japanese History (because you seemed to like it)

and a new one...
Bad Hentai (exactly what it says on the tin)

There were no links posted for the submissions. As a policy I don't post the submissions, I leave that option to the HMV makers.

Video Programming / Hentai Music Video Awards - 2014 Results
« on: June 01, 2014, 11:58:24 AM »
We had three entries this year, and one very clear winner!

Disneyhell by Khaotic Kinema - Audience Winner
Commercial Break by King Brown
C**k the Dragon by Glitch (I had to censor the title for this board)

Congrats to the winner and all of the entrants. King Brown and Glitch will be splitting the contest director's prize, as I enjoyed both equally.

Something tells me there's not many submissions. I should probably finish the one I've been working on, but I honestly don't have a good source for hentai clips...

There are rarely many entries, the most we've ever had is five. As long as I have at least two I'm happy.

88
Come on people, only 12 days remain to submit!

89
I realize this is a horrible form of thread necromancy, but it was brought to my attention that I didn't post the winners of this contest.

The winner was:

Punitration - by BashOfTheAges, drewconclusion and LantisEscudo

Special consideration goes to:
Baby Got Back - by Glitch
for having the only tentacles!

The other entries were:
Romantic Romance - by Hackrabbits
Bible Black (in 1 minute) - by Rocky Samson Video Productions

All were excellent entries

Showing sports games usually takes a special license to do, which I don't think FanimeCon can (or would) spend money on. That being said, I know a lot of staffers are fans so someone will likely figure something out...

Please please please do not cook in your hotel room. Hotels have rules against cooking inside their rooms.

Staff & Volunteers / Re: Community Service Hours?
« on: May 04, 2013, 08:05:33 AM »
One thing I learned from staffing Fanime in the past is that you should not expect too much from it, apart from making the convention a success. Sure you get in for free or get reimbursed, but the overall scope is to help run the convention as smooth as possible.

I don't believe anyone from staff gets "paid" to do what they do, even though I know there's a budget. You may need to sacrifice time, such as missing a panel or gathering, to be staff/vol too.

Only one person on FanimeCon staff is paid: The lawyer. That is for obvious reasons.

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Food Truck Idea
« on: April 24, 2013, 03:19:08 PM »
They food trucks could do what was done outside of AnimeExpo:

Go to one of the parking lots nearby the convention center and rent it out directly between all of them and setup for a set period of time. It was all done by the food truck collective.

I haven't submitted anything yet. (It's a joke because In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida is 17 minutes long.) I'm doing a medley song and just wanted to know if there was a time limit.

Well, common sense still applies. The crowd at the HMVs is fickle, and if your HMV requires a bathroom break you might be in trouble.

Unless it has a sweet 4 minute drum solo. Then you're probably golden.

96
Have you already submitted? I do not see an entry called In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.

To answer your question: Short video length does not mean it will be rejected. The videos are judged on their own merit.

I don't believe I've ever rejected a video since I started the HMVs back up in 2010.

Oh snap, it's been approved.

Now to lose the next 5 weeks building the presentations. Goodbye gaming time!

Special for 2013 - Best use of Tentacles (Chosen by Contest Director):
No one entered for this last year, so SOMEONE BETTER THIS YEAR.
In order to encourage more tentacles, a special prize may be awarded to the entry deemed by the contest director that has the best use of tentacles. This prize is outside of the two above prizes, so it is possible to win this in addition to above prizes.

You should see if you can get the Angry Video Game Movie to show at the convention.
