Quote from: LightandDarkSoul on January 04, 2010, 11:37:38 PM~Watch out for people taking pictures. You can ruin a great cosplay picture just by walking in front of a camera. So be nice and walk behind the cosplayers or the photographer.

Also, for those having your pictures taken or attempting to take pictures. Please do not simply stop in the middle of the concourse walkway because that causes for a fire hazard. The upper convention concourse services close to 15,000 people moving to and from other convention events throughout the day. If you are asked to take a picture, please be courteous and move either closer to the wall or the railling of the convention walkway or, if you have time, move to the downstair area where there are significantly fewer people. This will probably make for clearer, less populated photos and a happier convention experience all around as the Rovers (usually the bad guys in this scenario) will not have to ask people (politely yet in a firm tone) to move...

For me, the FanimeCon 09 isn't over yet. I still have my post-con stuff to write up, a proposal for next year to put together, and a bunch of other stuff to do to close out Stage Zero 09 and prep for Stage Zero 10. By the time I finish up closing everything out and get some honest-to-goodness rest, the time for depression will be past and meetings for the next Fanime event will be starting. The convention part happens only once per year for 5 days but in truth, FanimeCon is all year long; it doesn't stop, it doesn't sleep, and the men and women who put this thing on are never without something to do...

ugh. I need some more sleep...

With Fanime now getting over 15,000 people for the weekend-long party, it would be nice to expand the listening profile. Not everyone is into Happy Hardcore just like not everyone is into Rap or any other specifically styled music type / genre. Since the '09 theme is Music, however, I would hope that the dance coordinator will work hard to find DJ's to fit more than just a handful of music styles -- that harkens back to the earlier days of Fanime when this con was the only one with a real nightclub-style dance over more than one night. Bring back some of the old-schoolers if possible (I used to be one, by the way) such as DJ Mod (who's still on the Fanime staff) or DJ Socket or DJ Jinnai. I know that Muteki will be lurking and he might be able to pull Magic Mike out of his semi-retirement for some old-school B-Boy beats. You might also want to holler at DJ Hanzo Strider over at Stage Zero as he may be able to drop some beats or cross collaborate on a music presentation from his spot at SZ... (maybe we can even spread the dance out over more than one floor (the concourse at the SJCC after hours?) Just thinking out loud...)

Okay. So here's the deal on Stage Zero for '09. We're looking to expand the operation to a full 24/7 feature for the upcoming year. This means more coordination for content and showcases; this also means that we'll need more staff on all points (Stage personas, assistant producers, technicians, etc). The first official Fanime Staff meeting has occurred and our budget (how much money we get to start with) has been signed off. Now that we know where we stand, the discussions on what we're going to try is officially open.

That said, I will open this up by saying that the theme for this year's Fanime / Stage Zero is music -- not just J-Rock or J-Pop but all music. A lot of what I hope to have us try will be surrounding this theme and that will include the return of things like Musical Chairs, Quick Draw, and a few of the other game / contest-type events we've had in the past. We'll also be looking to try some new stuff as well and suggestions should be e-mailed to [email protected] with "Stage Zero" in the subject line. This will ensure that I look at it and respond in a reasonable amount of time.

It's my hope that this upcoming year will be even better than last (yeah, no pressure.... really...  :P ) and with more time to fill, it's going to be a challenge... :)
