Things in the Universe / Re: Is there a Fanime IRC room?
February 07, 2008, 04:55:16 PM
Yea there is a Fanime IRC room (irc.rizon.net/#fanime).  One of the members on here started it up but I don't remember who.  No one is ever in it though.  They all use AIM and the only way that I know into that one is an invite

There is a great chance I can't attend because my family is celebrating Chinese New Year on Sat Feb 16.  I continue to organize the gathering.  I apologize.  I thought my family celebrate on Saturday February 9.  Unfortunately, family plans changed.

ultramangaia and RyuHayabusa's suggestion of Jumper movie and the Japanese restaurant in Fremont is a good one and a start.  I updated the first page with a list of those definite and the suggested location.  If you're coming and are not on the list, please correct me.

That sucks.  My family usually waits to go out for dinner later a little bit after Chinese New Years so it easier and they don't rush you out.

Another place to maybe go to as well like that Golfland place I hear about on here or somewhere like that before dinner/movie.

BOO! I hate valentines day! No one should ever meet, and the holiday should be burned if at all possible!
I'm single.

I also lub Valentine's Day. Why?

Candy. Lots of Candy. Choh-koh-LAH-tay. ;3

That's not candy! That's recycled pieces of chalk! I'm not gonna be tricked by those little hearts this year... >:(

Those hearts are not that bad and there is also other candy too, not just those

How about we see that sci-fi movie Jumper that starts that weekend. Also there is a new Japanese resturant in Fremont off of Automall rd that my mom said was good we can check out.

Jeff

Great commercial for that movie, but I don't have any ideas for what to do on that day.  I can attend as long as it is on Saturday

Anyone can show up.  You should go and you can talk to head of the department(s) you have questions for and find out which ones have an opening.

Was wondering if anyone is familiar with resin kit and painting/assembling them?  Was looking to get a Shana figure but deciding if I should have them paint it or should I fine some to do it or maybe try on my own

General Anime Chat / NewType USA to stop
January 09, 2008, 04:45:45 PM
Here the news from ANN
"Representatives of A.D. Vision (ADV) have contacted retail partners to inform them that the February issue of Newtype USA is to be the last. At this time it is unclear if this refers to the official February issue, which is set to go on sale later this month, or the March issue, which would go on sale in February.

According to reports from those contacted by ADV, the company is planning to replace Newtype USA with another magazine. No information about the new magazine is currently known."

So looks like it will end at 65 or 66 issues.  This sucks since I was enjoying the Kabuto manga insert each month and they had some good stuff.  I also read Anime Insider, Otaku USA and ANN's Protoculture Addicts so it won't be too big of a loss, but the dvds did allow me to hear the dubs for some anime before I got them.  I do hope that Clamp starts an actual manga for Kabuto.

Happy New Years Everyone, though its almost the 2nd day of the new year.

Is it really 2008, doesn't seem like it to me. Not sure if that is a bad or good thing.

Some resolutions:

- Attend some more forum gatherings
- Get an apartment
- Go back to school to finish getting a degree

i guess my question would be:

so any preference between a 1 bed room and studio?

back in college and when I lived alone i ended up having too much space I didnt use it as much as I thought.

of course if your the party type and need the extra space then by all means get the 1 bedroom

I'm not really familar with the menlo park area, but you may want to do random research on traffic conditions whether u goto school or work, I hear those area sometimes could be horrible during rush hour/commute times.

Also if your a student/low income you may also want to check that to see if you could get a decent place for a lower rate if you meet the requirements.

and of course theres the room/house mate possibility, lowers the cost, but of course you may need to meet, or ask old friends if they'd be willing to set up in a certain housing sitation.

I guess thats my 2 cents...

I'm probably wrong as usual so definately also check out free posting like Chloe said about Craig's list.

I hear its good stuff. :)

I don't really have a preference between the two, but I guess with a 1bdr I would have a place to store stuff.

As for the place I was just seeing how different areas were (i.e. good neighborhoods and stuff)

Currently no roommate at the moment since all of them are either with other people or don't want to move out.

Bumping this to see if maybe anyone has anything to say, since I see people are looking at this, or at least clicking on the link, but no responses.

Does anyone have a way of hanging the calendar so that you don't have to tear off the page every two months?

Currently I have been trying to get an apartment but have been having trouble deciding on where and what I want.  If anyone on here has any helpful information to help me decide or advice or anything that would be great.

What I have come up with so far:
- Either a studio or 1bdr (can't decide which one)
- Near where I work (Menlo Park), 20mi max (looking at Mt. View right now)
- Willing to spend about $1200 maybe a little more (depends on what is included with the apt)
- Plan on moving during the early Spring (Jan-Feb) if possible

From ANN

"A flyer inserted into newly published books from MF Busho J, the light novel imprint owned by the production company Media Factory, has announced that a third television anime series has been greenlit for the Zero no Tsukaima fantasy comedy franchise. The announcement was made in conjunction with the 13th volume of the light novels, which are written by Noboru Yamaguchi and illustrated by Eiji Usatsuka. The 13th volume, Seikoku no World Door, will be released on December 20"

I hope it will be better than the second season
