Well I guess if the picnic is before the panel it kind of goes along smoothly :) Is the panel the same as the previous years? I never got a chance to go to them.

I'm glad people are excited for the panel, unfortunate Fanime stuff isn't able to assign panel times just yet. The panel will be similar to last years but we're hoping to make it bigger and better than ever. This time it will only be for an hour, have a more even representation of all substyles in the fashion show, have music in the fashion show and we'll have a powerpoint presentation to go along with the informational portion of it. As long as this doesn't conflict with the panel/fashion show and Oneesan staff doesn't add anymore events to Sunday I'll be there. I'm planning on doing my longer, more involved getting ready (makeup, hair, nails, etc.) before the panel, so you can always stop by then to get ready, and then leave your outfit for the ball in my room and we can run there, change, and run to the ball (which is in the same hotel, so it's not too bad~).

Last year, I had a Duffle bag I placed my clothing in when I needed to change, and I also used a large shopping bag, not the plastic ones, so it would look like I matched with it. = w=

Maybe you could borrow someone's room? I might have space if you need to leave something then pick it up later. of course I need to be at my picnic the whole time so that's the only drawback.... Last time I left to get something everyone was taking pictures when I got back...

I don't think I'll really buy anything there, because if it's brand name Lolita, I won't have the extra money for it since it is Fanime and Fanime just seems to magically drain our money. Is that where the Maid Cafe used to be 3 year years ago or something?
And I know what you mean about Fanime, it's like when Fanime ends and we wish it can go on forever and then we wait and wait. And then it's so close and almost here, and not there yet. I actually do not mind the wait because it helps me prepare for cosplay and stuff and you it's true, absence makes the heart grow fonder :D

At past events you were not allowed to take pictures in/near the shops or of the designers but you could get a Polaroid picture of you with them for about $5 and Maki & Asuka would sign it. It was a super cute souvenir for those of us who can't lay down the big bucks and I hope they do something like that again this year. :)

I swear it was an awesome first dress! It does take a bit of practice my first sewn dress wasn't even lolita.

One of the things I love about this forum is that you can update the first post subject line and recycle for several years. I think this is the third or fourth year for Jump. Peeps can bookmark the url and not stress digging for it and it does make adding you to the 2011 gatherings URL list easier :)

I want to see how people are feeling about the time and other stuff
I took the survey btw. :)
I already took the survey, but I thought of something that I'd like to add to the list of desired food (though it isn't a food):
Water.
I might even just bring an extra case of water bottles just for the picnic. I was thirsty and heatsick last year (even leaving to go get some water from the drinking fountain) because there wasn't nearly enough water.
Bring a little cute aluminum canteen with ya! They sell little cute ones at Target I believe hehehe or whatever kind of canteen you like, save from the use of plastic bottles :D Water is free from the fountain so take advantage of it ya! ^0^ <3
I use those at home, but they are impractical for bringing to a con (might get lost or stolen, heavy, nowhere to fill it up, etc.). Besides, if I brought one, then I'd be the only one at the picnic with water, unless everyone brought one.
Sometimes, plastic bottles are simply more practical.
Besides, if i had a metal one, I'd have to get it peacebonded. Live steel and all. ;)

I'd have to say having it on Saturday might be a good thing and a bad thing... A lot of stuff happens on Saturday, and I'm most curious about the lolita fashion show because last year it had perfect timing being on Sunday night after the picnic. We do have the patio on the second level so we don't have to worry about crowds so much.

I would much, much rather have it on Sunday morning. I plan all my cosplays around having Sunday as an off day, and I'm typically pretty busy Saturday evening.
But waiting for the panel/fashion show is a great idea. :D

Filled out the survery, early Saturday afternoon would probably work best for me since I have cosplay gatherings in the morning and late at night to attend.
If it's a pot luck, I can try and bring some packaged biscotti for everyone.

I really don't know about Saturday because there are a lot of meetups on that day too :/
The thing I liked about Sunday was that the masquerade wasn't on that day, and usually a little more laid back than busy Saturday when most people come to con.....

It would be great to make sure we know how many games people win and possibly timing games so everyone gets to play games. I know stuff like monopoly have short versions you can play or timed versions of games....

I can met up early to get everything ready.
I'm in the Hilton this year, so it will probably be a bit easier for us to meet up and carry everything down from your room.
Haha, you'r the one organizing it, if you can't do Saturday, then don't do Saturday! Not everyone will be able to make it at every time.
As for the other days, a lot of people have work or school on Friday (and I know that Friday for me is driving down day...), and Thursday isn't even an offical con day, so there will be even fewer people there (I won't be there for sure).

I don't know about Friday at all and Thursday isn't an official convention day.
I just found out that the Masquerade will be on Sunday this year!!!!!

@ Lizchan33: Since the Loli Gathering is normally scheduled to be on a more relaxed day, and with current info, I would like to suggest Saturday. I will contact Rodney_Phoenix and see if we can move the Texas Hold'em event into the Cosplayer Hangout and that way you can have this up on the CPMS on Saturday. Let me know (via PM) if you have an alternate idea.

Sunday night would be pretty good, even though both the B&W Ball and the Masquerade are that day. Well, Friday at 9PM isn't -too- bad, either, since it is late enough that most people will be at the con by then, but I'd need to do some rapid changing/checking into the Swap Meet/leaving my goods in the care of my sister/running to the panel, haha.

D: I've seen a lot of people with amazing patterns and such, and my coat really isn't all that patterned except for the leopard on the edges and the boys and pink crap and scrabbled together and just clipped on. This is the first time I've ever put together a lolita outfit.

Tha coat is really cute! Just to warn you, though, last year I got heat sick outside at the picnic and I wasn't wearing a coat, so I'd be careful.
If you want some advice, I'd ditch the maid-like headband and the small parasol, since those add a costumey look. Maybe a simple pearl headband or a bow of some type instead? You are super adorable, though. I love your hair (wig?). *_________*

The only problem is that I've already maxed out what I can afford for my lolita outfit. I spent hours on that parasol and headband too... That damn purse is what broke my budget though. It was $100.00.

You can definitely sign me up! It will be nice to go and meet some of the California lolitas. I'm sure there are way more than there are in little ole Alabama and California weather is just so swoon worthy compared to the humid heat of the South. I can't wait!

I've got a few tea pots specifically for this and I think I might get with Bshapire to see if I can use the outlets in the cosplay lounge but I will make hot tea if it kills me

Ahhh it is current information for this year~!
The location is the library path next to the hilton on the front side(north I'm pretty sure) of the convention center. The nice thing is you'll be able to see us if you walk on the first floor of the convention center and look out the windows.
You don't need to be attending fanime to go to the picnic~!

Alright. I'll be headed down there tomorrow morning (Friday), so tell me if I need to bring anything special today so I can pack it.

It looks like the start time got bumped up to 11am.
Also there was some concern that the meetup location was gone because of the construction. Short version- its not :)
Long version- The library path is still there. A portion of it is torn out & there are less trees but it's still a pretty shaded/nice area. I've been to a couple cosplay meets there this weekend. the only problem is that it can be kinda awkward to get to. It's right along the construction fence on the Hilton side of the convention center, so there don't seem to be doors that actually lead to it anymore. You can go out the main doors by reg & walk all the way around along the street, you can go out (but not back in) through the doors right above the library path area on the second floor & then come down a small set of stairs on the outside or you can cut through the Hilton's restaurant & their patio area- which is kinda frowned upon but honestly the easiest way to get there.

I am looking for an asian? girl was wearing a Loltia dress black/white? and a light colored shawl. On Sunday Night, around 9pm, she came up to me when I was walking through the park and ask where the black and white ball was located. I told her that she should follow me because I was going the same way. We had a small conversation about ballroom dancing, and I felt that I had chemistry with her. I was going to ask more about herself, but she was stopped by Black and White Ball Fanime staff saying that your dress was 2in too short and she was not allowed to come in. I wish I left the building with her and got to know her better, but my lack of sleep/foresight prevented me from seeing this opportunity. Five minutes later, I realized my mistake, but she was long gone and I never saw her again.
My biggest regret for Fanime 2012 was not talking to this girl and I have been kicking myself ever since Sunday. If you know a girl like this, could you show/tell her about this post. I was wearing black shoes, black slacks, and a button short sleeve black shirt. I am 6ft 3in tall and half Asian/half white.
I know that it is a slim chance that I might find her on the internet, but it the only route that is open to me. If this post does get to you, could you PM me?
I do apologize for using this thread, but she might have attend the Lolita Gathering.
