Quote from: "HeeroYuy135"The tourament went really well this year. Friday I was knocked out early (by someone who picked up a set of 8s on the turn) but Saturday I came out better and placed fourth.

What I would like to see next year is more people, and actual felt tables that we can bring in that stand on their own, and not like one that is put over a table. Also, whoever is working on this project this year can find out if someone can donate a bracelet ala the WSOP, have the FanimeCon logo engraved in it, and given out to the winnner.

Suggestion: the round tables used in the Console gaming area of E-gaming would work perfect actually, if you wanted to setup a dedicated poker/texas hold'em/blackjack station or two. I'll be your number one visitor, as I love this type of stuff.

Gaming / Smack the Pikachu in the Game Room!
May 28, 2007, 09:07:27 PM
Quote from: "Snow Ninja"Snow Ninja here, who else played this during this year?

It was broken up on Sunday because of some Staffer thought.

Dx

I know at one point I said "oh my the Pikachu is back" and I'll admit I felt like a bad person not stopping it. I think it was stopped for a reason, and for what it is, I do not know. I'm thinking safety reason and possibly will now be enforced for the future.

I guess I have the bad luck of "oh hey, by the way someone was looking for you" every time I had to run to do an errand for my department and the such. During today (Monday), I was out in the dealers room doing some last minute shopping and I come back to hear from a staffer of mine that someone was looking for me and it wasn't someone I know.

Description, at least to what I know: A girl that was short (probably 5'1 / 5'2 when he used a friend I knew as a reference), in a schoolgirl outfit, cute and Asian.

If you are that person, PM me, i'm really sorry but i'm a busy man during the 'Con D:

Quote from: "Kazuhide Aeiji"I wonder if anyone is still planning on bringing this to console gaming...even if it's not an official tournament or anything. Casuals would be great.

A nice staffer of mine managed to procure a copy of I think the latest version thats out there. Thank him, not me =)

Gaming / Fighting games on console
May 28, 2007, 08:13:53 PM
Per policy and to my understanding, E-Gaming (PC/Console areas) are not allow to have a game that will conflict with the Arcades. This year so far we have not received any complaints about it.

Crazyness. I'm surprised I didn't get sick.

Before I begin, E-Gaming Department management would love to thank every staffer working with us for pulling off another good year and pulling through a number of unexpected hardships that occurred.

E-Gaming is aware of a number of things that went right and wrong. One thing fresh on my mind is tournaments: it was brought to my attention that a tournament exceeded a certain time limit I requested and we will try to avoid that in the future. Also, I think people noticed the somewhat smaller console area - because of last minute changes and equipment issues, we could not deploy everything we wanted and this disappointed us. Hopefully it will be resolved and our connections more, "dedicated."

Also, this is not a final decision, but a general policy we keep in E-Gaming: we cannot simply accept a loan of equipment from an outside source other than our staffers: it presents a liability risk that we nor FanimeCon cannot accept. We were asked during the convention about it and we did make exceptions, under the condition that the loaner watches the equipment themselves. Next year, a new procedure or policy will be made about it.

Last, but more importantly, we will be in dire need of new staffers to continue this, as a number of our veteran staff are retiring. More details will be posted as post-Con and FanimeCon '08 planning begins.

This thread will be for feedback for the next FanimeCon ('08) and will also now cover PC/Console gaming plus Arcades, because of the previous thread and the common confusion to put posts about arcades here. If the dept. head leader of Arcade would like to use a separate thread for feedback/suggestions, let me know and I'll edit accordingly.

We are also watching the main comments thread for additional information.

Alot of words this time around. /hmm

Let the suggestions and comment making begin! Keep it constructive and to the point - FanimeCon Board rules apply here too. E-Gaming will be listening and watching.

Thread closed, the next suggestions thread for FanimeCon 2008's E-Gaming is going active in a few minutes.

Gaming / Tournament Arcades Are a "No-Go"
March 08, 2007, 09:56:29 PM
Oh, not to be mean...but please, please, don't ask E-Gaming about this either: its outside our domain. We had a couple of people ask us and we're not fans of disappointment, but what can do.

Alright...

E-Gaming can be willing do this, IF:

1) We get a copy of a Guilty Gear game, preferably either the latest or popular one. We need to know ahead of time what version (esp on what console, to see if we can support this)
2) We can get assistance in running this (since we are not familiar with this game at all)

We can do sign-up setup and the what not, but without the two requirements, we can't do it. Other than prizes (being worked on, at least last I heard from my dept head), all it needs is approval honestly.

Gaming / First-person shooter?
March 08, 2007, 09:48:50 PM
When the WoW needle isnt so far in me, I'm using bouncing between CS/CS-Source, DoD/DoD-Source, BF2142 and Quake 4. FPS's right now are kinda "bleh" since I want my UT2k7 (oh wait, now UT3), but Crysis looks SICK!

Gaming / Smack the Pikachu in the Game Room!
October 15, 2006, 09:57:10 AM
As I was sitting back in E-Gaming watching people do this and I thought it was pretty cute and funny. Of course my concern was "what if the Pikachu landed near us" so if anyone recalled the short asian guy asking people to move the people over, that was me.

I cannot give a definate answer right now, but there's a chance this may not be allowed to happen again, because of the potential for damage to gaming equipment and attendee "accidents". I stress the word chance right now, but I could inquire. This ain't a bad idea if someone did propose this as an actual idea and convinced otherwise =P

Gaming / E-Gaming Suggestions/Feedback thread for 2007!
October 03, 2006, 10:28:38 PM
Quote from: "otakuapprentice"As i have previously posted in this thread: as long as fanime can give me their word that if my Wii gets stolen that they will reimburse me for it, or at least have enough people monitoring consoles to prevent this from happening, then i would gladly step up as a "donor."
Wii-motes are very risky since those can just dissappear very easily, but that would need to be worked out later on. So long as i can retrieve my Wii every night and have it set up before the start of the very next day, then i'm all for it.

We have a waiver setup and unfortunately, the 'Con cannot reimburse you if I recall. Once I get a copy that isnt on this virused up system i'm on right now, I can send you a copy to see how it is and works.

In all honestly, in the past we have had wireless controllers deployed since we did not anymore wired ones and they havent been stolen. Its a risk we take but we clearly tell our loaners (inside staff and outside loaners) the realistic situlation of the E-Gaming setup and the considerable risks that they are taking.

As for retrieving the Wii, I need to talk to you in person before we set anything in stone.

Its in consideration, again. I am hopeful it will make the final cut this time. What we need to know: what verison of GG do you really want? I have someone looking into it but its all I can say.

Gaming / E-Gaming Suggestions/Feedback thread for 2007!
October 03, 2006, 09:59:36 PM
Quote from: "HamSTA"please please PLEASE have Counter Strike this year!

and i am well aware of the server issue on its complexity of setting it up
my clan is sponcered by a server company called Vivid-Hosting
if i ask them to sponcer Fanime-Con a server could there be a CS tourny and stuff?

they are going to have servers just down the street in that tower across from the park. so moving a server over to teh convention center will be no problem

I sent ya a PM man - whats up? E-Gaming is interested if it can be done...

QuoteGame room opening after everything else: Thumbs down. What was the delay last year - was it arcade, consoles, or just scheduling that meant they weren't open bright and early? I know in previous years the arcade-in-the-fairway was up and running as soon as I got to the con (like 8am). It gives people something to do before viewing rooms, the dealer room, and events and all are open.

I cannot answer this accurately, but at the time, i've requested that the E-Gaming section be opened later because we needed additional time to finish seting up. I know arcades was ready to go, but the main jest is setup time.

Wii and PS3 at FanimeCon: same policy with the XBox360s - find me a willing donor and its considered done. Security is going to be increased even more so considering...its a PS3 and Wii lol. Once more planning starts up more, we're gonna review our tournament setup. Thats alot of consoles we got already supporting and also the PC section and fighting for tourny slots.

E-Gaming will be making announcements later on but I cannot promise any in the near future right now.

I'm still kinda disappointed that it didnt happen. If anyone is interesting in helping us host this or "otherwise", contact me. Its early to announce something, but we do keep an eye on suggestions.

(Contact info: either by PM here, or @ e-gaming at fanime.com . non-linked for anti-spam reasons)

I havent heard anything new about this...

About the PS3 and Wii's - As I did with the Xbox360's, "find me a willing donor and we'll do it." Lets assume both dont have thier release dates slip - that will make us expand the consoles by a good 30% alone, just to have the space and also ensure nothing happens to them. We are going to factor both new consoles into our plans, but until we get a secure donor/sponsor/whatever to get them, I cannot say we will have them. Tournys for them are going to be exhibition level, due to the lack of experience for now unless they haven't changed "much".

For the handheld room/section, it is being reexplored again. With us gripping how Exhibit Hall 3 works, this can be done. We are looking for suggestions/ideas for this. Hopefully the Wi-Fi access is still extended to the exhibit halls and the gaming can happen.

I can tell you right now, if there's such a thing called a sofa sponsor...

Quote from: "HentaiTentacleDemon"i got an idea. if the upper fanime management guys demands that the arcade & consoles be in the same room, then why don't we keep the arcade by the entrance doors and leave the consoles buried further in the back of the room.

so for those who don't have a badge, they would only be able to walk into the room up to a certain point, while those with a badge, would be free to walk to the far corners of the room.

this way the arcade area can remain public, while the consoles remain secure.

Its an idea. We're lookin into trying a different configuration and position. With E-Gaming know what the really heck to do in that exhibit hall, we got an idea of how to use it (properly and with some new ideas)
