After much debate with Wren, we decided to try and stop by in costume for a bit in-between the Bleach and FF gatherings x.x
We'll be going as Aqua and Eraqus ^.^ Looking forward to taking pics with other BBS cosplayers if we make it in time =)

I'm still convinced that Kubo is going to be the end-game boss XD

if he is then he'll be wearing some awesome clothing design.lol  ;)

as much as I loved seeing Aizen getting his ass handed to him like that, I cannot buy it for a second. And knowing Kubo, its just another troll manuever.
That and you can't have the villain be killed by characters other than the shonen hero - if anything what they all just shanked was an illusion. If it does turn out to be that they were actually able to land blows on Aizen, then I'll be amazed.
chapters need moar kensei/ryuuken/isshin though imo.

watch, Gin's the secret boss. Either that or he has some power that tricks them instead of Aizen maybe...

I have a bad feeling Aizen's going to pwn them all with some trick and that it wasn't him in the chapter at all =/
Shunsui was badass though, I have a sexah master =3

So, would we want to try and make the game at like 10-ish? Or even try for 9:30 to get an hour and a half or just try for an hour game?  I'm good with an 11am gathering, especially with how busy Saturdays can get and such ~  and I want to actually do stuff at this gathering xD  I think I've missed the last two or so because of other things and masq stuffs.

yeah I'm trying to get the gathering in before noon cause I'm doing masq stuff with a group this year and wanted to aim to have everything finish up by 1 at the latest.
I'd be fine with the chess game at 9:30, I get up early in the morning anyways to do cosplay prep XD

Some people best not be late this time. *glare glare*

hey I had to finish handsewing bias tape DX

Heh, we gotta make sure we have our costumes all ready to go before Fanime this time ^.^; Speaking of, can you put Audhulma down for mah other half? =3

@Charis: You really need someone thats cosplaying Minazuki's human form carrying around the plush behind you

Find me a human-form Minazuki and I'll let them carry the plush.  :P  I don't know of anyone doing it.

As for Katen, it may not be as bad as it looks, depending on materials.  Using something breatheable for the base layer would probably help a huge bit, and the neck and wrists are exposed, which are major heat loss points -- and I think the legs too?  (Things I have learned in the course of wearing too many ridiculously warm cosplays. XD )

Yeah as long as I keep the weight down as much as possible then it'll be manageable.
*raises hand* I wanna carry Minazuki if we don't get a human-form cosplayer XD If someone did the twins we'd have all three and that'd be pretty epic X3

@Wren- you know I've done worse x.x as long as we make the skull detachable then I'll be fine =3 *grabs fan* haha I should just make one to carry around, it'd fit her perfectly XD

@chaosbark-  Oh yeah it's fine. Fanime is one of the better cons for me to do big costumes because if I need to I can go straight back to the hotel room to rest ^.^

Minazuki has come upstairs because it is finally cold down here in Santa Barbara.  He is currently oozing over the foot of the bed, but at night he becomes a pretty good footwarmer.  Useful zanpakutou is useful, hee.
Once I get done with Katen all her layers will make a wonderful comforter for my bed ahahahahaha....ha...X_X

ick I'm more worried about ALA than Fanime right now @_@ that's stupid they're jacking up prices so fast. =/ I'll rebell like Wren and wait until the last minute lol

I dont mind so long as it is within the extent of the law.  But when its simply con staff trying to BECOME the law thats when I have to..correct them. ( Idid it for Sauracon)

While we are on convention center/hotle we ( and teh staff)  do need to abide by the rules set in place by the convention center/hotel itself as they have jurisdiction.

Outside of the hotel/con centers property lines, were only held to public law.

What I have a REAL problem with, is assholic con security thinking they ARE the law and stepping outside of thier jurisdiction within public property.

They know they're wrong, so if you call them on it theyll generally back off.

I know some of you guys have seen this already but Yukari and I tried to strongly defend the cosplayers POV and the opposition did not give valid arguments to support themselves at all.

http://forums.fanime.com/index.php/topic,12021.0.html

I especially like Kuporoth's mention of people getting injured after being tied down to their props like that. We all know it's dangerous and they still do it to us, so Bleach cosplayers are going to be in danger of hurting themselves and others and also not even be able to pose for pictures. I know each city/district has their own rules and all but when I went up to Wondercon they never harassed us about our props or even bothered to zip tie them or anything(though if they had I wouldn't have minded as long as they aren't jerks about it), and everyone behaved properly with their props as well. If Fanime staff could treat cosplayers with the same consideration that Wondercon staff does then we wouldn't be having these discussions. At all the cons I've attended I have never seen at any other convention with such a severe treatment of cosplayers/prop holders. If I'm going to pay $55 and hotel room fee to have fun then I want to do that fully with the props I make as well because sometimes the prop makes the costume like how each Shinigami's and Arrancar's sword is unique to them and them alone. Heck all I mostly do at cons is cosplay. I rarely go to panels and never even the gaming room because I'm out with friends posing for pics and taking some of my own at gatherings. I think it's pretty obvious that cosplayers help attract a lot of extra attendees and not just the events at the convention. People want to see us and they're going to be extremely disappointed if we can't properly pose for them.

Lol wut?

Some brat claiming she was a rover kept following/hounding us while we were in our DMC costumes and wouldn't leave us alone. She forced us to go from the side of the Hilton to the Marriott just so con ops could make sure my top was appropriate because apparently she was the authority on it. When we got there they had no idea why she dragged us all the way over for that and said I was fine. From what I remember there were quite a few complaints about her on the forums I think, may them be fanime or cos.com I don't recall. They need to be more careful on who they make rovers this year.

@Steve- No I actually complained to the staff when I was dragged in there for the reason I just typed. What I meant was that you don't hear anything because most people complain after the convention, it's common knowledge that many tell what happened AFTER, there's always tons of threads whether good or bad happened. Some people aren't aware or don't bother to complain, but when they post in these threads they find out the same thing happened to other people as well.

I commented on your contradiction because how YOU worded it. You should have been more clear.

"I do not want a guy carrying an assault rifle replica waving it around on the sidewalk and getting the SWAT team called on you." I just said in my previous post that guns are the total norm to regulate (because having ones that looked real would be bad yes?) so your use of this example doesn't relate to what I briefly stated before.

"Rovers have mandatory training and adhere to a stricter code of conduct than most other staff." -you might want to make doubly sure this time around because what I typed first was an obvious abuse of power.

"14 y/o male showing off to his friends may start swinging the weapons around and hurts someone?" -That's when you guys come in and go tell the kid to put the thing back in his room before he does hurt someone.

"Rovers are fans/cosplayers just like you." -yeah I know they're all fans, but it's common knowledge that most of staff don't cosplay. I've been told this by multiple people, some of them being staff at this con and others.

"Rules are rules, if you have a lenient rover peace bind your equipment, great. If you have a more stricter enforcer, tough luck." -you just contradicted yourself again. if rules were rules and carried out appropriately and made fairly then there wouldn't be a problem. That's like saying a judge will give a cosplayer Best in Show to their friend even if their costume was a piece of crap.

to your latest post, threatening isn't very smart on your behalf, and extremely unprofessional. We are trying to explain to you our point of view and you are not understanding what we are even saying when we have been clear in our wording. Even BumbleB has given you photographs to prove her point, but you're trying to twist it to shamelessly defend yourself.
Giving threats like that makes you and those under you look extremely bad to the rest of us and you lose trust as a leader. The illegal weapons for a felony would be the realistic guns, steels swords and other similar items. If I had a somewhat large prop made out of foam, wood or some other non-harmful material and went out for a photoshoot with a friend, the cops wouldn't even bother as long as I didn't look threatening, yeah they may come over and ask just to make sure but there's no way they'd take it out of proportion. I've talked to a couple of people in other departments of staff and I've even been told information about someone on staff taking advantage of underage drunk girls, etc. and here you are preaching that there's nothing wrong and everyone is doing what they're supposed to? yeah sure.

and we're too busy actually enjoying the convention in costume so there's no way we'd join rovers, especially with these flip-floppy excuses you give. You are supposed to ask cosplayers if it's peace bonded that's not harassment that's your JOB. If someone nicely came up and asked me I'd be totally fine with that, but if they come over and act like an ass then that's unprofessional may they be volunteer or staff.

The weapon is physically bound to your costume, not necessarily to you. In certain circumstances/costumes/weapons some may require some extreme peace bonding, but that rarely happens.

This policy has been intact for years, we have YET to actually receive any complaints about this being too strict.
...no we just all complain on the forums and other sites after the convention is over with.
You also just contradicted yourself, we are wearing the costume therefore the the weapon is bound to us. This means if we try to go take a piss in a Bleach costume we're going to have one hell of a time trying to do so if we can't get our pants off. The policy has been there but never so overly strict or absurd. From what I've seen it's a known fact that people with large props/swords don't go swinging them around because they've spent a shit ton of money building them. An experienced Cloud cosplayer isn't going to be swinging his $500 handmade sword around to look cool, he's going to be careful with it and make sure not to hit anyone. Same thing goes for my DMC crew. The only ones rovers would really need to worry about are the usual gun props, and the occasional underage kid with a bought prop who isn't being watched by his parents when they should be.

You need to start cooperating with cosplayers to reach fair agreements instead of making up whatever rules you want because if you keep this up then people will stop coming due to all of the complaints, and I appreciate it if rovers made sure there aren't any power hungry newbies running around harassing cosplayers just because they're jealous or not completely informed kthx. Plus, this goes out to a good friend of mine, let the guys wear their spartan stuff for shit sake because I really don't see the fairness of them being forced to wear pants when there's a ton of chicks running around nearly naked without you guys batting an eye.

@ waffle-lover26
hmm i havn't seen a lot of Sun Sun cosplayers, but you might have to make the top. The skirt you can buy as just any long white skirt and add the black belt things.

I'm making my "Zanpaktou" (Sode no Shirayuki) right now.

Everyone out there: what material are you using for your sword?

Mine is bamboo. The weapons policy is really strict this year
Quotewooden weapons [like your sword] will be changed to an ACCESSORY TYPE, meaning it will be peace bonded in such a manner it will NOT be able to be pulled or handled in a swining motion- meaning it will be permantently tied to your costume and not be used for hand held or posing positions.
Wait WHAT?!!? Peace bonded on my sash?? No posing for pictures??  :'( Oh well I can always bring my little sister's plastic one.

where did you find that quote? I didn't think the weapons policy was out yet....
either case, I really hope they aren't going to be that strict this year. The one year I did Byakuya they made me peace tie my katana (which I had already taken the liberty of zip-tying it myself to show that I was responsible) to my obi, and it made sitting incredibly difficult. My Slifer costume has two swords that in no way can be peace-bonded to me, and I am a responsible con-goer....gahhh how frustrating ><

I got the quote from http://forums.fanime.com/index.php/topic,12021.0.html  ;D

I'm getting really sick of these extensive rules on props, and I honestly won't trust anything any rover or whoever tells me unless I talk directly to the people in the weapons check room(whatever the heck it's called). My friends and I have been harassed multiple times every year because of our DMC costumes and one friend even made sure her gun didn't look real at all and they still strapped it down, basically we were not pleased. Not only that but last year some chick kept coming after me about a top I was wearing and forced us to go all the way across the hall to the check room(the people there didn't even know why I was dragged there and we had a sarcastic laugh over it T_T). I found out later that she was doing this to multiple girls because she was jealous of what they were wearing or something. All in all if I have any more issues like this then they're going to get a mouthful, and especially if they try to make us put away our large DMC swords because I WILL refuse. Our group has never misused our props EVER and we're always extra careful with the big ones so they can kiss my pleather/black twill-clad @$$. My two cents =)

Popping in a quick note due to Yukari's suggestion since we've had the date in cement for a while now.

We're having a cosplay gathering in March at a park in San Jose. It's a great place for Bleach cosplay with an awesome Japanese garden. I totally demand that Wren bring a prop sake bottle and pose in front of the tea house XD
