While it is Serbian, the artistic style might merit a screening of Technotise.

If there's trouble finding it, I can probably help. :)

Rawr. I'd bring my Shakuhachi but... well it's somewhat a limited instrument. :p

Errr... out of curiosity, because I've seen the Anime but not read the manga, do they go in different order? The Anime showed that in the first scene...

General Anime Chat / Re: Spice and Wolf

It was simply a generally nice series. Not heavy in violence or fanservice or romance or really... anything, except economics. It was just a pleasant show to watch and hear. :D

I doubt that we will see a season 2, but I loved it anyway. :D

General Anime Chat / Daughters of Mnemosyne!

I just noticed that there's talk about this 6-episode OAV online and was curious if any of the wonderful Fanime folk have heard anything either way about it? I'll be watching it tonight, so I'll post a short verdict here when I get the chance. :D

Excellent topic, but also a divisive one.

On Bootlegs: It is a very large problem when people are selling bootleg copies to Suncoast, only to have those resold by the store itself. When you've got illegal practices stretched into the corporate line (and, while Suncoast is -supposed- to check, they do not), then it is an industry-wide problem. Thusly, it is.

Ie: The Suncoast near where I live actually has about a half dozen Chinese-ripped subtitled copies of Fushigi Yuugi, bootleg, of course, sitting right next to the (still overpriced all these years later!) official box-sets. Which do you think the average, unaware that a bootleg business exists fan will pick? The expensive one or the cheap one?

Bah. I'm coming from Las Vegas (or trying to...)

... it was a lot less of a pain when I was coming from Willow Glen, which, for the non-locals, is walking-distance if you're a nutjob (like me).

Sadly, Airsoft is now pretty well out of the question, due to the recent California laws governing such things.

With a budget, laser tag could still def. work. :]

Sadly, in the year when we were trying very hard to get it done, Cosplay Chess just seemed to end up being a logistical impossibility.

Though I can't say, for sure, whether progress was made on that in '07. I'd love to see that brainchild come to fruition.

Oh gosh... I feel old...

This will be Fanime number 12 for me, last year being the only one I've missed since '96.

as tempting as they seem(i wanted to buy them too, but didn't), i wouldn't go and buy them; they are not exactly made specifically to fit you, and by that i mean they are only in certain sizes, so even if you do get them, they might not be perfect for you.

Plus, its best if the contacts that you purchase be crafted according to a prescription that you can acquire through an eye doctor(most sites require a prescription to sell you contacts, since not everyones eyes are the same).

This is extremely sound advice, but, just in case, there have been sellers who've had them for anywhere from 15 to 40 dollars for a set in past years.

Seriously, though. It's better to go through a doc. I bought a pair of nice anime contacts a few years back and found that they actually didn't fit into my eyes at all. Very sad. I'd hate to see it happen to another person.

Call me a crazy throwback-lover (or, as I prefer, a classicist!) but I'd love to see the Zeram/Zeiram live films brought back to Fanime. :D

... heck. Run them back to back to back with Iria, and there we'd have me sitting in a room for 7 hours. ^_^

I am anxious to see how the Maid Cafe works this year. I co-run a similar event at another convention and Syd was nice enough to contact me regarding Fanime's maid cafe last year (which, tragically, I was unable to attend). News regarding this second and more refined iteration will be absolutely awesome, I'm sure. :D

I'm back!

... and you can still reach me at the same IM addys. It looks like I'm still on the list, so all is well, but I have lots of lost time to make up for! :O

De Anza College should also still have an active Anime club (though Foothill's has been around for way longer). Apologies for not providing a link, but it's been a long time since I was in charge up there. :]

You can start putting me back on the table for these as Fanime 2008 is on the table for me. :D

Ideas and Suggestions / Airsoft Events?
June 05, 2006, 07:33:09 PM
An alternate take to this, if I may offer one, may be to revive Fanime laser tag. It's both less expensive, less realistic, and less possibly painful.

It happened at Fanime up until the first year in Santa Clara (non-inclusive) as 'Frazer Tag' but the gent who was running it was a tidbit unreliable. Perhaps we should guage again the possibility of doing a Fanime laser tag room. :D

I just noticed that... I guess I'm one of a lucky few who saw it, hehe. ^_^

Hopefully we can keep things learning towards constructive criticisms and awesome new ideas on how to improve our con. :D

Perhaps it might be a good idea, say, to have the walk-ons in a block running somewhat runway style (Walk to front of stage, twirl, walk around stage, exit) as the Emcee announces them gradually, giving them both a little more time on stage as they walk around and the people who complain about walkons less cause to complain (as, after all, if they're in a block you don't really have the problem of having literally the time of the walkon to give each participant an intro and outro).

I personally didn't have a problem with it, but maybe that would help?
