Things in the Universe / Regarding BSaphire
July 16, 2016, 04:28:36 PM
I haven't posted here in a while, but earlier today, I received an e-mail from BSaphire in my inbox, but for some reason, the e-mail disappeared before I could open it, and it didn't re-appear in any other section either. I haven't heard from her in a long time and when I came here, I noticed that she hadn't posted in a year.
If anyone knows of a way I could reach her, could they send me a PM? I haven't heard from her in several years and was looking forward to reading her message before it disappeared.

I'd really like to attend this event, but I won't be able to get to the Bay Area until some time in August.
I enjoyed attending the golf meet-up last year and I'd like to be able to take part in it again.
Also, because of the big event that's going on on the 25th, it might be better to change the meet-up to a later date, since it'd be less crowded.

Either Paramount's Great America or Raging Waters would be great. Although it might be better to schedule it in late July or early August. That way, people will have more time to plan for it and I'll be more likely to be able to get a plane fare by then.

Does anyone know when to expect responses to the panels they submitted?
I submitted mine last month and haven't been replied to yet.
We're a little behind on responses. Should be sending some out within the next week. Not sure how long it'll take us to catch up.

Okay. That's cool.  :)
Have you guys been able to contact guests about Story Story Die yet?

For those who aren't familiar with this group, they would make an awesome addition to Fanime's guest list. They are great at what they do. I saw them for the first time at Aki Con earlier this month and they put on an awesome show. I also plan to hold Story Story Die with guests next year and it'd rock if members of Ichi-Dan could participate.

I've heard that some of the guys who attend wear scantily-clad clothing and like to glomp other male con-goers. What is the clothing (or lack thereof) they wear like and why do they dress like that? Does anyone here participate in that?

Story, Story Die seemed like it was a really good idea, but didn't quite have the right.... execution?  (no pun intended)

Out of the people on stage, there was like 1 really good one, 2 that were trying their best that were hit or miss, but it missed the cooperation and group interactivity needed so desperately in an exercise like this.
None of the story tellers (save the 1 mentioned and a few times the other 2) didn't really seem to listen to each others stories and try to make their part work with it.  They were all just sort of telling their own stories.

Another problem was that it seemed like characters were picked that the storytellers didn't know.

I think it's a good idea, but hard one to do improvisatory.

Anime list is a biased activity, I think.

The reason why Story Story Die went over the way it did last year was because there weren't that many people who showed up for it. I've held this event before multiple times prior to this year's Fanime and usually, there are more people in attendance and the people who show up usually have more knowledge on more anime series. If I hold it next year, I plan to do more games of it on Stage Zero as well.

I've got several ideas I plan to submit when the panel submissions open:

The Anime List: This went over really well this year and I look forward to doing it again next year. It's a discussion panel where we all discuss our favorite choices of various anime subjects and of the ones that get selected, we vote on which ones are our favorite.

Here are a couple of clips from this year's panel:

Story Story Die: I look forward to doing this event a third time and I'd like to try to get a guest or two to participate in it. I was thinking that it'd be a really cool and unique way for con guests and fans to interact.

Here are a couple of clips from this year's Story Story Die panel:

Anime Christmas: I did this event for the first time at Kumoricon this year and the show-up for it was a lot higher than expected and I think a lot of you will really like this idea. It's a Musical Chairs-style game where people sit in a circle and pass around a large present. When the music stops, the person holding the gift will unwrap a layer and underneath each layer will contain either a gift (which the person will get to keep) or an anime-related penalty (where the person will have to do what the message on the paper says).

Gundam Wing illustrate the fanfic: For this panel, a crack Gundam Wing fanfic will be read to the audience and they'll come up with illustrations from various scenes.

Did Your Favorite Anime Jump the Shark: This is a panel where we discuss what all anime series we thought jumped the shark and why.

I have all of the clips uploaded now, which includes a clip of Reno juggling golf balls.

Does anyone attending live in or around Oakland? I'd like to be at the gathering till 11, but my ride doesn't want to pick before 10. I plan to show up at around 5 at the latest.

This will be my first time going to this course. Who all here has been there before and what are some of your favorite things about it?

Glad you like. I'm gonna try to do that idea for the first time at Kumoricon this year. If it goes well enough, I'll post clips of how the battles turned out.

I plan to hold a shoot for general RPG characters again next year and this time, I plan to have people act out character battles. For those who plan to cosplay as RPG characters for next year, we should try to come up with some battle ideas.

I really like this idea. I haven't played miniature golf in a long time and it'd be great to be able to meet up with Fanime members again. If we schedule this, let's see if we can make it sometime after July 18th, since I'll be able to attend it after that date.

My experience at Fanime this year totally topped this year. Fanime '07 wasn't the best time I had at a con, but it had it's moments and I enjoyed it enough to want to keep attending and I'm very glad to have made that decision after the experience I had this year. I hosted more panels this year and had a great time with them (I hosted Story Story Die, The Anime List and the fan art caption contest) and I plan to host panels again next year as well.

I also had a great time taking pictures at the gatherings I attended and the video clips I taped was my most diverse video collection from a con to date. When I returned, I was excited to get back just to upload the clips. They can be viewed at http://youtube.com/user/PaladinCecil/
The Fanime '08 clips are on the first page and most of the second page and I also have clips from last year's Fanime.

The pictures I took from the con can be viewed here:

The Fanime '08 pics are on pages 1 thru 5 and the first 8 pics on page 6.

I have a few questions about the con that I wanted to ask as well:
1. What all panels did you attend and which one/ones did you like best?
2. Was anyone here at the DOAX pool gathering? I attended it with some other people who got to it late because the girls in charge of it had to re-locate at the last minute. If anyone here showed up at it when it started, what all went on?
3. What all gatherings did you attend and which one/ones did you like best?

I enjoyed Fanime this year a lot more than I did last year. The gatherings were awesome and I was able to make one of the best sets of video clips I had ever made at a con. I also had a lot of fun with the panels I hosted and it was really cool to be able to see Dan Southworth.
And I have some ideas I plan on doing for next year to try to make it even better.
