I am sorry, are you requesting something specific?

Hey guys!

Just a quick update on the goings on at dance now.

So, I got a late addition to the DJ lineup.  I think this will appeal quite a few people, or so I hope.  Anyways, Kid Whatever (Yes, the same Kid Whatever who produced some songs for ITG/ITG2) will be joining us this year!  As of right now, he will be spinning Saturday night.  Make sure you check him out!  I will release the DJ lineups as soon as I get a chance to finish for those who want to know who's spinning at what time.

Stay tuned!

Thanks!

Okay. Alltogether. Exactly what are the dates to the Raves? Do they go for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night alltogether? Or just one day? Because I have a certain costume that is ment for Raves, and I want to know which day I could wear it.

[Might as well PM it to me, because It will be a hassle for me to go back into the forums to look for my answer.]

If you would have looked up, you would have seen the times AND days the dance will take place...

You know what?  I have a request.  Off The World (Super 8 & Tab Remix).  Listen to it.  It's sooooo good. :)

Agreed, I've been listening to it a lot the past week and a half ^_^

I also like Super 8 & Tab's remix of Amsterdam as well.

You know what?  I'm going to "drop" my request...

*hint hint*
was still looking for that one...  *POINTS*  I will find that one in this life or the next! lol

There's only one place where you're gonna find that.  But don't worry about it, I'll "DROP" it.  ;)

C'mon man, you know what I mean by "drop" don't you?

=( I have ANJ-055, Amsterdam original b/w Smith & Pledger Remix... what release had S8 & Tab remix? I dont even think I've heard it... must research!

I believe it is a digital exclusive to a certain website just like Off The World Super 8 & Tab Remix.

W00t...Im ready for the dance. However, every year I would always ask around if there is going to be a dance because it is never announced. So is there an official time for the dance? Usually I attend the one on Saturday night, but then people mention that there were ones on Friday night.

Dance runs from 10pm-4am Friday through Sunday.

I'm guessing by what you have posted that you only take majorly known bands?
I'd request, but I'm into the mostly indie Jrock scene, and I'm not sure if you have any of their music.
=(

Well, if you do not request it, you will never know if we have it or not.

So, maybe you should request it?  Just throwing it out there. :)

Night of Fire was never on DDR.

Yes it was.  DDR Disney Mix.

QuoteSo this is for the rave, it's just called Fanime Underground right?

No, this is not for the "rave", this is for our show during the day.

I happen to like the Disney version of Night of Fire thankyou lol

I second that.

Can we get a sticky on this, please?

You know, I was kind of hoping you would see this.  I would like your expertise on this.  I really want this to happen, so please send me an email on which is the best way to go about a DJ battle.

There's plenty of music to go around.  However, what I mean is if someone had like a special request, we can have it available.  Kind of like a TRL thing, except this isn't the sorry music turned reality show channel known as MTV.  We keep it real!

So uh, I have this idea that I came up with some other guys.  Basically, it will be like a radio session during the day where you come in, chill with us, interviews with con attendees as well as some guests (if we can get any), contests, dance battles, DJ battles (maybe?), and some other stuff.  Now, what I'm asking you guys is if we were to pull this off, what kind of music would you think would fit this session?

We take requests, so the sooner, the better.

Feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Hey all!

Well, this isn't a major update or anything, but it's worth mentioning:

Dance hours have been changed.  Now, Dance will end at 4 a.m. instead of 2 a.m.

Oh, it might not be called "Dance" for much longer.  That being said, I would like to ask you, the people, what Dance should be called.  If it sounds good, I'll take it up to the heads at the next meeting.

All those who were emailing me about playing at Dance, please bear with me.  An issue has come about and need to think things over.

I agree.  Why do you guys calling the dance a "rave"?  I've been to a REAL rave in SF and the fanime dance no wear near something like that!!!  Calling the fanime's dance a rave is like using poppin in a breakdance battle.

I take it you have never been to an underground party when all you have was one black light in a small room with over 300 people.  I am not saying that is what Dance is like, I am saying you do not need all the lights and lasers to have a rave.

Now, I do not know why people are calling Dance a "rave" when it is not.  The music that is played at Dance does not make it a rave in any way.  In fact, the term "rave" is extremely vague.

Nowadays, they do not call those parties "raves" anymore, simply "dance party" which is more specific.

Now, on to other news:  I am pretty sure that most of you have not heard the news, so I rather have it come from me instead of someone else.  I am the new head of Dance.  There will be a few minor changes that will hopefully benefit everyone that will be attending this year.  But first let me clear something up:

There has been a rumor about having a 2nd room for Dance.  That will not happen.  There is no possible way I can justify having two rooms for Dance when we cannot fill one room up.  If there was enough people pushing for a 2nd room instead of a handful, then I would have made that push.  Who knows, if in fact enough people started using their voices,  I may have to reconsider and push for a 2nd room.  A second room means more DJ's.  More DJ's mean more genres that will most likely be covered.  And even if there is no 2nd room, do not worry.  I made sure to have a much wider variety in music this year.  And to just to add a spoiler in the mix,  I do have an 80's/90's hip hop/RnB DJ.

Stay tuned,  I'll have a major update very soon, and you will like it...hopefully. :)

I think it's about time I said something about this.

Ever since I started spinning @ fanime, I've always got the same request:  Could you play Sandstorm?

Now, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with requesting that particular track for the simple fact that it does fit with what I've been known to play, it's just quite honestly, I don't really want to or it's not in my crate which is normally the case.

Mister_E, I'm pretty sure you've heard what the other DJ's are trying to say about your requests, so I would advise you to hold off on requesting a particular track you would like to hear at Dance until the appropriate DJ is on.  I'm sure you won't have any problems figuring out which DJ would be appropriate to ask.  ;)

Live Programming and Events / Fanime Dance stuff.

Quote from: "Kanchii"All in all, it sounds to me like we just have to really pissed off DJs here because they didn't get the job. Deal with it.

Again, as I said before in my last post: You don't even know what went down, so leave that alone.

QuoteSo what if she doesnt play the same music you do, does everyone have to play the same stuff? That'd be HORRIBLE.

You sure about that?  So if everyone played the SAME EXACT GENRE it would be horrible?  Even if it's your genre of choice?  Also, did I say anything about what she played?  Did I say it was bad?  No I didn't.  In fact, I didn't say anything about what she played, did I?  As a matter of fact, I actually tried to defend her!  Did you read any of my previous posts?

Quote from: "I"Did DJ Caen rock it? Apparently, it seems like she didn't do that bad if some people are saying they liked it.

Quote from: "Sorin""it" so happens to be my roommate, and is most definitely a girl, thankyouverymuch. If you think otherwise, keep that &%#@ to yourself.

Well hey, I made a mistake.  My bad.  Why you gettin all defensive for?

Quotedon't come on these boards acting all high and mighty.
And how was I "acting all high and mighty?"  Don't be coming on these boards tryin to check me when I haven't say ANYTHING negative about ANYONE.  Period.

Quoteyou need to try and at least somewhat cater to the music of the audience. I wouldn't play a punk show for a bunch of 40 year olds, because I know they most likely woulnd't enjoy the music. The sign of being really good at what you do, is being diverse enough and knowing when to play what people want to hear.

Ok, let me ask you this: How would you know that 40 year olds wouldn't enjoy punk?  What, you can just look at one and automatically know what kind of music he/she enjoys listening to?  And you don't have to be diverse to be really good at what you do.  Does it help being diverse?  Sure it does, but that doesn't mean you're going to be better than the other guy who excels in that one thing.  It just means you're trying to appeal to everyone, and some of us knows how had that can be.

Ok look: if I offended anyone, I apologize.  That was not my intent.  I'm just trying to keep all this unecessary fighting to a minimal, but like they say: people are ALWAYS gonna find something to complain about.  I believe everyone here has made their point.  Let's just leave it be now.

Bigger room won't work.  Yea, we tried it in '05, and it was WAY too big, we couldn't even get a crowd goin.  The smaller room works out, although I do wish it was a tad bit bigger, but we made it work for these past 2 years, and I don't think '08 will be any different.
