Panels and Workshops / Re: Hetalia Budget Cooking 2012
January 13, 2012, 10:45:03 PM
Yo! I've never done a panel before, but I'm really good at following instructions and I learn fast! Lol. :P

I'll be cosplaying Canada this year. (I also have an Austria cosplay prepared just in case though.) Let me know if you'll be needing my services! I make the walls behind me look mighty fine. ;3

LOL, keep in mind I'm not the gathering's organizer! XD Ultimately it will be left up to that person. (But unless anyone objects or proposes another day, I think Sunday is a safe bet. :P)

Last year the gathering was on Sunday at 11am or something, right? Personally that time and day sounds fine for me. If anything, the location might be in question by the time the con happens. I know that the fountain out front is gone now, but I don't know what that entire area will look like come Memorial Day Weekend. I've seen the specs for the future look of the convention center somewhere on the forums here, so we can get at least an idea of how much room there will be out front.

I dunno, maybe it's too early to tell right now and I'm just rambling. XD Basically, time and day from last year sounds good to me, but maybe later (based on what people think and what we're told about the look of the convention center) we can decide on the exact location. *shrug*

I've never done a panel before. Buuuuuut I'll be attending the con as Canada this year. I also have an Austria cosplay set up from last year. If you need either of those, gimme a holler. :3

(Don't have any pics of my Canada cosplay at the moment, but I do of my Austria, if you want me to post any.)

Woohoo! I guess I'm satisfied with a number that's under 50. =]

LOL. I got 14 myself. Yay for page stalking! 8D

Okay then!  I've made my decision: I'll be attending the gathering this year as Canada! :D

(I'll probably bring back my Austria cosplay, too, but I'd wear it on a different day. He had his chance to shine last year, lol. XD)

WOOOOOOOO, I CAN'T WAIT! 8D *flail*

DUDE.  Awesome, Foxberry! :D

I remember mine was the second one up on Sunday, and it all happened so fast - I handed off my camera to one of the people watching, but I'd forgotten to take it off of video mode so the pictures didn't turn out to well. XD  Then my friend (hodgebodge, who was Bass Armstrong right after me) showed up for his fight and thus didn't have any pictures of mine. :P

So that's fantastic that you got everybody!  Thanks for all of the great shots!  Much appreciated. <3

Woo!  I'll be in touch with a potential cosplay.  I have a feeling I may be more than one Hetalia character at the con next year, but I'll have to decide who I'll be for the gathering! ;D

This past year was so fun!  I can't wait for next year!

Whoa portland's really far! Are most of the con-goers from really far away? It's pretty intriguing to me as I only live a few minutes away...
But because I live so close it doesn't really feel like it's ended yet. I did, however, mope around yesterday a little bored.

My friends and I came down from Humboldt County to the con, which is relatively close to the Oregon border. :3  (Lol, we're the hardcore "Northern California," I guess. XD)  But I've also heard of Fanime attendees traveling from all over the country, and even overseas in some cases. ;D

Hotel Name: Crowne Plaza

Would You Book Next Year: Yes!

Pros: Quiet atmosphere, wonderful and polite hotel staff, comfortable beds, clean room, lots of cabinet space for me and my friends to place our stuff, no crowded elevators, within walking distance of many eateries, relatively cheap Wi-Fi, discounted parking!

Cons: The handle on the bathroom faucet came off at one point (we screwed it back on, lol); was given a double-bedded room instead of one with a king-size bed and sofabed like we'd booked (we had no huge preference in any case, but it was still a mix-up); no mini fridge in the room (wasn't necessary since we brought a cooler, but it was a little perk my friends and I were hoping to have since we'd gotten one in our room the year before at the same hotel)

Special Notes to Share: In all, I really do like the Crowne Plaza due to its location and its atmosphere.  It's never overcrowded in the way I've seen it at the Hilton and the Marriot, particularly around the elevators.  My friends and I have stayed there for the past three years and we've never been disturbed during the night.  (Whether it's luck on our part so far I don't know, lol.)  One thing to note is that the outside doors to the hotel are locked from 6:00pm to 6:00am; if you want to get into the hotel between that time period you have to have your room key card to unlock the doors.  Don't ever forget your room key and get locked out!  You never know how long it will take before someone will come around to let you in. XD

LOL that is amazing! I have to say whenever I passed by hotel staff they seemed more entertained than anything xD

Haha, I know! XD  We had quite a few people at our hotel ask us how the con was going and if we were having fun.  All the hotel staff we ran into this year were very pleasant with us!  (Kudos to the Crowne Plaza. ;3)

My friends and I stayed on the fourth floor of the Crowne Plaza this year.  We didn't have a mini fridge in our room either, but it wasn't a huge deal for us.  (In any case, we'd brought a small cooler.)  The small handle on the faucet in our bathroom came off at one point, but we managed to screw it back on. XD;;

Also, there had been a mix up with the type of room we'd gotten.  We'd originally booked a room with a king-size bed and a sofabed, but we were given a room with two double-beds instead.  (Again, this didn't make much difference to my friends and I, since we were fine with either arrangement, but the lady at the front desk did say it was likely a mistake on the hotel's part.  She was very nice about it.)

Aside from these things, my friends and I enjoyed our stay.  We've stayed at the Crowne Plaza the past few years mainly because it's more quiet and suffers from less crowding and rowdiness than the Hilton or the Marriott.  So far we haven't had anything hugely major to complain about.

(LOL, I'm sorry, I'm probably not helping out your thread topic, am I? XD  Still, I'm sorry your experience was rather unfortunate!)

On Saturday night, my friends and I dressed up and headed down to the con for the dance.  One friend was dressed as Rayman and the rest of us were Raving Rabbids.  (There were five of us total.)  On the entire elevator ride down we danced to whatever music was playing.  Only one other person got into the elevator with us (I think it was a hotel staff member, lol), but I think she was amused, if not a little weirded out. XD

I just arrived home from San Jose, but I don't think I was really feeling it until I started reading this thread. XD;;

I may feel it even more tomorrow once I go back to work, but at the same time I'm also feeling pumped just thinking about what I'm planning to do for Fanime '12! ;D

Hi guys! ;D

Does anyone happen to have any pictures they'd like to share of me in my cosplay?  I was Austria from Hetalia: Axis Powers the entire weekend.  I know there were quite a few around the con, though. XD;;  I'm pretty short, carried a conducting baton with me, and occasionally walked around with the Holy Roman Empire. :3

Thanks! <3

EDIT: Okay, forget that.  I totally overlooked the fact that my facebook account is set on private. XD;;

Since I don't really want to change that, I'll go ahead and upload my photos onto my cosplay.com account.  I'll post again once they're all up so you guys can see! :D
