I think it would be helpful to have 1 listing of ALL of the events, to act like a Table of Contents to all the threads that devotes themselves to 1 event. Post your thread URLs and I'll list it under the appropriate event.

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (AP) - A rare gull that apparently tried to eat a couple's ice cream was euthanized after the man beat the bird with a stick. Dragan Djuric, 50, of Wichita, Kansas, and his wife were eating ice cream New Year's Eve on the boardwalk at Main Beach when a flock of birds attacked them, Laguna Beach police Sgt. Jeff Calvert said.

One bird hit Djuric's wife in the head and tried to take the ice cream. Djuric was defecated on.

The couple dropped the frozen food and Djuric began hitting the birds with a stick, Calvert said.

One of the birds - a rare Heermann's gull - sustained a broken wing and was later euthanized.

Djuric was cited and released on suspicion of animal cruelty.

Heermann's gulls are on the Audubon Society's watch list for at-risk birds. The creatures are surprisingly aggressive and steal fish from the pouches of pelicans and chase other birds to take their prey, according to the society's Web site.

The estimated population of Heermann's gulls is 525,000.

If it had been me there, I would have just tap the bird with my foot. I would never go as far as to break any bones.

Serious Business / The Confederate Flag
October 12, 2008, 12:25:30 PM
Doesn't anyone find the Confederate Flag slightly/extremely offensive?

If I saw it in a history book or in a museum, I would really care, but when I see people wear clothes based on that flag, it bothers me a little. I can't help thinking that the person is telling me, "**** the U.S.! The South will rise again!"

Anyone here from the south? Feel free to voice your opinion.

Gaming / Fighting games on console
May 11, 2007, 11:11:16 PM
I know that OCE doesn't want any console version of their games at the convention and I can understand how it would cut into their profits, but what if we allow console fighting games for tournaments ONLY.

So, like on regular days, the console fighting games would be locked away, but when the console tournament starts, THEN we bust out the console fighting games such as Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, Soul Calibur, or whatever, and as soon as the tournament is over, we lock away the console fighting games again.

I don't think this idea will harm OCE's profits, because the console games will be locked away for the majority of the convention. In fact, I think it might even boost OCE's profits, because people will want to practice & sharpen they're skills before the tourney, and if the console fighting games are locked up, then they will have no choice but to practice on the arcade cabinets. Even during the convention, people that get bored while waiting for their match to come up, they can just hope over to the arcade cabinets to pass the time.

I know it's way too late to do anything for Fanime 07, but would this be possible for Fanime 08? I think this idea can work out. If anyone disagrees, please elaborate.
