Title: Swap Meet 2011 Info SWAP MEET 5/25/11 *THURSDAY BADGES UPDATED*
Post by: angeljibrille on February 15, 2011, 01:05:27 PM
OK, I lied... one more update:

LIST OF BADGES FOR THURSDAY

http://www.anime-online.com/fanime-swapmeet/thursday.php

This list tells you if I will have your badge or not. Enjoy <3

SELLER FORM

All sellers need to fill this out! Thanks :)

http://anime-online.com/fanime-swapmeet/2011SwapMeetForm.pdf

SWAP MEET SPACE MAP

As promised:
http://anime-online.com/fanime-swapmeet/swapmeet_map_2011.pdf

As you can see, we were able to squeeze in 124 spaces, so some of you waiting list people are in luck. The rest of the room will be filled with Gaming stuff, so it's not empty like it looks on the map :)

We did make sure to put a "gap" between those two front rows this year, there will be a 10ft space, so people can walk down the middle of the "aisle".

OK, and with this, I am officially going *computer e-mail phone silent*. I've got a lot of stuff to do pre-convention!

I'm not sure where we are going to put the lines yet, but you can see the door you are going to be going into with this map. By 5pm on Thursday we will have it set up, which is why no one should get in line before 5pm! :)

See you all there!

BADGE INFORMATION UPDATED

***** NEW INFORMATION *****

To answer a few of common questions:

1. If you are the Group Leader: yes, I will have your *entire* group's badges.

2. You only need to have *one* badge to be able to sell and that badge needs to be the main person on the Swap Meet List. I don't need whomever your second person is to have a badge (though it is suggested), but they do need to check in at the Swap Meet desk with us if they are going to be selling in your space - they will get a hand stamp if they do not have a badge.

3. Panel people: apparently you received a card from the head of Panels that allows you to pick up a badge on Friday only. That's the card I need you to bring when you check in. If you don't know what I'm talking about: contact [email protected] to find out about your Panel Card or if you even qualify for one.

4. I *cannot* pull anyone else's badges but the people who were on the list. Please don't ask me to do so, no matter what your special circumstance is. This was a *huge* favor done on our behalf by Registration. We may change the way it works next year, since this was so last minute, but if we want to make Registration willing to do this in the future... we need to make it an easy process for them. They agreed to pull the Swap Meet Reg & Waitlist badges for Thursday only, and they are pulling the exact names plus the associated group members if that person is a group leader. Everyone else will need to wait in the normal registration line. Thank you for understanding.

**********************************************

Badges are REQUIRED for all sellers on both Thursday and Friday. We strongly suggest pre-registering for the convention if you plan to participate (http://registration.fanime.com/).

Now the good news!

Thursday evening sellers AND waiting list participants will be able to get their badges when they check in for Swap Meet at the Swap Meet Registration Desk in Exhibit Hall 3!!!!

This is only for Thursday sellers.  Please note: we will only have FanimeCon Badges on Thursday for those individuals we have as the primary contact on the Swap Meet Registration List (https://www.anime-online.com/fanime-swapmeet/) and who pre-registered.

You DO NOT need to wait in the FanimeCon Registration line, you will be able to wait in the Swap Meet Registration line instead and get your badge when you check in for Swap Meet. Again, this is *only* for Thursday and *only* for those who pre-registered. However, if you registerd as a Group, we will not have your badge unless you are the Group Leader. If you have a Panel Discount and won't get your badge until Friday, please bring your Panel Card to us instead of a badge. We will NOT be selling new badges, this is only for pre-registration. Everyone else will need to take care of getting their own badges in the normal FanimeCon Registration line.

If you no longer want to participate in Swap Meet and don't want us pulling your badge, please e-mail me now to cancel! [email protected].

If you don't show up for Swap Meet, we will return all remaining badges back to FanimeCon Registration @ 9:00pm and you will need to wait in the normal FanimeCon Registration line the next day to get your badge.

Hopefully this news makes happy campers for all involved.

Thanks for your patience, and thanks to Registration for the extra effort involved to make this happen.

REGISTRATION CLOSED -- FINAL LIST HERE (https://www.anime-online.com/fanime-swapmeet/)

RULES POSTED! (http://www.fanime.com/swap-meet-rules/)

Registration has been moved to open on March 15!

This is due to server upgrades, etc. Please see exact time and other information below. Thank you for your patience.

Basic info:
1. Registration should open on March 15 @ 11:59pm. The link will be posted in this thread and on the web site. However, I have a toddler and if an emergency comes up, this date may get pushed back a couple of weeks. Check this thread for info.

2. The Rules are here! Know them, etc. (http://www.fanime.com/swap-meet-rules/)

3. Rules are *RADICALLY* different this year due to a bunch of people doing inappropriate and in some cases illegal things last year. We had to put the big stompy foot down and we are changing the guidelines. Be prepared to read the rules thoroughly and understand them, because we are going to boot people this year for breaking the rules and the rules will be strictly enforced.

4. Swap Meet will be held from 8pm - 1am on Thursday May 26 and Friday May 27.

5. All registration (even waiting list!) is pre-registration Online. If you do not pre-register, you *will not* get in. Period. So plan on registering online once it opens.

6. If you plan to participate GET THERE EARLY to get your badge. We are *NOT* letting you in without a badge this year. Your badge will be marked with a participation sticker for each day. You must have *ALL* your items ready-to-go when you check in at the Swap Meet desk. There are no in-and-out privileges (with boxes - you can send someone out for food that's ok); you must have everything with you period (no going to your car, hotel room, dealer's room, etc.).

7. You will also need your signed contract, and a Government-issued Photo ID showing you are over 18.

8. DO NOT plan on lining up before 5:00pm We will be *dispersing* the line if you get there before 5:00pm.

9. When you register *online*, you will get a number for each day (example: 19). We will have "Southwest Style" grouping areas in the line outside (1-20, 21-40, 41-60, etc.). If you are #19, you would get into group 1-20. You will be served according to your number. So, #1 is first, then #2, etc. There will be signs posted outside of Exhibit Hall 3 with your Last Name and your Registration number, in case you forgot what it is.

10. Waiting list people will be served according to where they are in the waiting list line (not based on a number). So, first-come first-served. Waiting List line will also start at 5:00pm, do not line up before that.

The full list of Rules & Guidelines is coming, but this should answer basic questions.

Feel free to ask more questions in this thread, but I won't be answering much until after the Rules are posted because most of the answers will be in that document.

Thanks all!

I have a question about acceptable items.

It says that used cosplay items are allowed, but what about handmade used fashion items? I might try to sell an old (used) lolita dress that I made years ago, but I'm worried that it won't be accepted because it is handmade and is not a cosplay item.

Thank you!

I have a question about acceptable items.

Actually, let me clarify this further.

The reason for the revised (and stricter) rules this year, are because of people who were intentionally breaking the rules last year or ... "bending" them. Here were our main problems:

1. People bringing in additional items (or having friends bring them in) that were not searched for prohibited items.

2. Dealers (instead of occasional sellers) bringing in huge amounts of new unopened things. This event is primarily for *used* items and *not* dealers. Before anyone freaks out, a portion of your items can be new - I know I have stuff for sale that I bought but never opened. However, people who are clearly buying/importing new items in bulk should be selling in the Dealer's room and not circumventing the fees the other dealers have to pay. This is a Garage Sale / Swap Meet, not "how to get around paying for a Dealer's Table".

3. People selling adult items as 90% of what they were selling, and not carding or concealing their goods as requested. We found these items also bypassed check-in and were brought in by friends, which is why we are having a strict "you bring it with you and no in-out privileges" this year.

4. People selling their Artist Alley Wares and Commissions.

If you don't fall into these 4 categories, you very likely have nothing to worry about.

Not even going to Fanime this year but I'm super-glad to see this (along with other changes) were implemented!

Perfect, thank you!

Another quick question -- if I have some oo~oold posters that I'm not sure are official or not, can I bring them by anyway and then just toss them out if you guys don't approve them? I just want to make sure that accidentally bringing in bootlegs won't disqualify me or something.

Yes this is fine. Typically it's the ... laminated "copied" posters that are prohibited. We won't let you sell those, but trashing them is no problem.

So I do have a question.

Why the change in how you check in? Prior to last year when I sold it was a first come first served for spaces in order of who lined up first. Last year's change was a big surprise, as my sister and I had lined up right at 5pm, and essentially had wasted 3 hours waiting for a good spot only to be told to move to wait until our number was called. Friday we knew about the change, so we didn't bother lining up early, but it was very frustrating on Thursday. (Not to mention on Friday someone was already in the spot we'd been assigned, so we were moved. XD )

Again, just curious as to why this change? I can see how it would be easier for the staff running it to check people in, but if you have a list with names and numbers wouldn't it be nearly as easy to just pull the people who lined up first and ask them for their number?

Sorry, bit long winded here, I really do enjoy the swap meet, it's allowed me to off load a buncha my old things that were just taking up space, along with allowing me to find some things I'd given up looking for/didn't know existed.

I have a question about 2 items I want to sell.  I have these beautiful Chinese swords, which are both inside cases, and are retractable making them very compact when they're not inside the case.  They are however, live-steel but have no sharp edges and the tip is blunt  Since I've never inquired about selling air-soft weapons, I wasn't sure if my swords were allowed to be sold or not.  And if I am allowed to sell them, only to those over the age of 18? (request for I.D.?)

Thanks for any info!

It was announced on the web site, but some people missed it. Also, a few people were posting old and incorrect information in places that I was not aware of (and when I found out, it was too late to notify everyone).

It was done this way because we have had an increasing problem with:

A. People doing bad things (see a few posts above)

B. WAY WAY WAY too many people showing up to sell. Also, we had people getting in line for hours before the event and causing traffic issues.

C. People said they didn't want to drag all their stuff to Fanime unless they knew *for sure* they had a place.

So, I already addressed "A".

"B" is a significant problem because of the volume of people showing up to sell. We had a lot of traffic issues, and processing the line took a very long time.

With this method, we already have a part of your info. We can confirm it's really you (via badge / ID) and you are guaranteed your spot line.

Also, quite frankly, if you are engaging in "A" you can be identified and removed quickly as well.

You know you can show up at 5:00pm to get in line and you will quickly be processed and seated in a space of your choice (from what's still available by your spot in line).

This leads into "C": you aren't dragging your stuff to Fanime if you have no chance in heck of getting in.

Last year we had (I'd have to go check numbers again) something like 150 spaces and we had over 200 people on the *waiting list*.

Before we started online registration (4 years ago now), the line would go on forever and we had a lot of angry people that they didn't get in at all to the event to sell.

If you don't get on the main list, you still have the option of signing up for the "Waiting List" and then you can wait in line from 5:00pm on to see if you get in after we process the main line. *that* line is first-come, first-served.

Unfortuntely, with the volume of interest in this event both by swap meet sellers and attendees, we can no longer do the "if you wait there for 12 hours you get in first".

As far as you having to be moved: I apologize about that, our map was incorrect and it caused some spacing issues. Our one-size-space plan of this year should fix that issue. My sincere apologies for last year.

Thank you for understanding.

Marisa

Erm.... My post was post was edited?
Cause I remember posting that.....
QuoteI'm curious about this.... with rovers it's generally a problem if it's used with costume. In dealers hall (and I think artist alley) they can be sold but they MUST have a box to be put in. And of course buyer needs to be over 18.
I would love to see the response posted here on the forum... If it isn't answered before saturday I'll ask at the rovers meeting..... >_>

My swords will have a box for each, and I will tell the buyer to bring them back to his/her room after the purchase.  I will say that I hold no responsibility after the purchase has been made.  :)  Sounds good?

Hi! I'm definitely interested in signing up for the Swap Meet this year, haven't before in previous years, so I have a few questions-

-Is it okay to buddy up with a friend? Or is it strictly one person per, erm, "plot" for lack of better phrasing?
-How much does it usually cost to register for the swap meet?

Thanks! And great thread!  :)

Two people are allowed per space :)

And it's $20 per space.

Processing registration is the same as checking in right? I'm just reading what is in the Swap Meet Rules and want to reconfirm.

Last year (or was it the year before? I forgot), I brought in a suitcase with two wheels on the bottom. Am I not allowed to this year? I just saw this:
QuoteAll displays must be crafted out of the cardboard boxes / plastic boxes you bring your goods in
so I figured I'd ask. Last time I sold stuff, I used the suitcase to hold my manga to show the spines.

For others: Anyone want to split a space with me? I don't need the full space and if someone else also doesn't need the full space but still wants to sell stuff, let me know via PM, in this thread, or via email (redroses3164ATgmailDOTcom). :]

Yes. You register online, check-in at con (and that's when we look through the stuff and you give us your form and pay your fee).

This is fine. Our problem last year was with the people who brought bookshelves, tables, clothing racks, and huge displays. These are not allowed.

I work at 6am, so I'm staying up late just to sign up. I hope it will be up soon, as do many others, but I can't wait up too much longer.

When it does go up, I'm sure the server is going to freak out with all of us trying to sign up at the same time.

I appreciate that we're all working on different schedules, but next year I hope they have mid day sign ups instead.

I work at 6am, so I'm staying up late just to sign up. I hope it will be up soon, as do many others, but I can't wait up too much longer.

I don't work that early but yeah, staying up too to register  :-[

I'd rather just see a sign up go up around 10:30PM, most people are still able to be awake at that point, while those of us with night classes/who work retail are generally home at that point.
I'm getting an Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long, which seems to be an issue when the site is set up as HTTPS but is trying to read/access it as HTTP? I'll be honest, I don't understand it, but I googled the code, and it seems like it's an error on the set up of the site.

Hey Angel: If the site doesn't go up tonight, will you be announcing when it will be going up? Or will it wind up being a stealth launch?

So now we get to waste thursday lining up at about 7am to be sure we're at the front of the pre-reg line and have enough time to get our badge, then grab all our stuff and get in our spots for check-in

I don't think the server will have too much damage with roughly 30 or so people (at least according to how many people are looking at this thread right now). Unless it's that crappy of a server.

Yeah, it must be hard for the people who have tons of stuff to haul it all up in time. Especially with the new rules for having everything looked through at the same time.

Fanime tries to give us everything we want, and it is by far my favorite convention. Its just small annoyances add up.

What bothered me in 2009 and 2010 was that I had a spot in the middle, and there was an empty space (that wasn't marked off) next to me, and some kid walks up, and opens his backpack and starts selling the small items (manga, videos, etc.) that he has with him.  (This was in 2009)  This guy didn't register for a spot, and simply just entered the Video-Game room and showed his items to people, made a few bucks, and then left.   >:(

Well, the same thing happened in 2010 on Thursday, not-sure if it was the same kid, but this time I was ready and when a kid started setting his stuff up, I got a staffer who confronted him, and then kicked him out of the room.  :D

Keep an eye out for any of these idiots this year if you are in the middle-part of the Swap Meet room.

I didn't have any problems dragging up all my stuff, but both my sister and I had everything in those nice big tubs/moving boxes, so when it was time to move we just dragged/pushed our "tower" of stuff.

I did laugh though, last year about 20 seconds after I put a wall scroll out while setting up, it was already being sold. XD

Only other question: last year we brought one of those folding chairs people use at parades, that won't be a problem to bring again this year to sit on while selling, right?

Well, to be honest, despite theres a big line, I kinda find this hard to beleive if they follow/unfollow most rules!..
One person was caught selling the Bootleg Digimon and the guy did'nt know!, Another was caught for selling Airsoft and never pass regulations!...

Then came the part where people got in for free by using their friend for help assistance because the staff is Occupied on the other peoples goods...

not saying anything wrong its just, i can imagine its really busy!...

This though bothers me the most: As soon as we set up, THIS ONE KID open the box witout our permission was scavenging through our items and I had to shout "BACK-off", it was the first BIG deal to see this happened! and i am starting to realized how are we going to set up before people start fighting for a piece of good!....
it made me more furious when he was giving a happy smile look about the kingdom hearts keyblades, until I was happy to broke it apart by saying "NOT for sale"

After glancing through all that error stuff with that link I posted, it won't look like it'll get changed anytime soon unless the server people fix that SSL problem.

@Eurobeat King: I think that's why we're getting stickers now according to OP post. It confirms we are actually people who are supposed to set up in designated spots.
I assumed we'd be checked periodically if we were valid to be in that spot or something.

But yikes how bloody annoying.

I was tempted to just start selling stuff in the hall friday night last year as well, I had a ton of clear costco crate things and people just walked on up and started looking through my things. They were asking me to hold this and that for when we finally set up.

Setting up last year was a fiasco as well, practically the same deal as you had. I practically dumped all my books on the ground and was pulling out models/figures while people were asking for prices and sorting through my books

You pay when you check in, on both Thursday and Friday. So you pay 20 on Thurs, 20 on Friday.

You don't have to supply your reg number until you get to the convention and check in at the Swap Meet.

Processing registration is the same as checking in right? I'm just reading what is in the Swap Meet Rules and want to reconfirm.

Yes!

Quote
Last year (or was it the year before? I forgot), I brought in a suitcase with two wheels on the bottom. Am I not allowed to this year? I just saw this:
QuoteAll displays must be crafted out of the cardboard boxes / plastic boxes you bring your goods in
so I figured I'd ask. Last time I sold stuff, I used the suitcase to hold my manga to show the spines.

This is fine, we just don't want people bringing bookshelves and clothes racks and stuff like that.

Whew! Made it in the first 10 for both days!  I was starting to have a mini panic attack, wanting to make sure I would be able to reserve a spot.  I don't think it's just my own perception that swap meet seems to be getting larger and larger every year.  I mean, did anyone actually notice the reduced space size for sellers this year?  On the one hand, it always seemed like 4 people could easily fit and work in previous full-spaces of 10x10, but to not have that option this time... makes me wonder how many people staff are expecting to be selling this year.

Now the only thing I have to worry about is the logistics of getting all my stuff in there in one trip.  I won't have nearly as many boxes as I had last year, but I don't think I'll have any buddies to help with the load, either.

A badge isn't necessary for Thursday, but Friday's requires one.  (Unless they changed it this year?)

Each night of the Swap Meet that you are participating in, you check-in, pay the fee, and then the staff will collect your registration form, check your items, and then take you to your spot.  The badge # usually is written on the pre-reg. form.  A badge isn't necessary for Thursday, but Friday's requires one.  (Unless they change it this year.)

I'm pretty sure they have changed it.  angeljibrille will probably have a reply up for this shortly, but I think they've restricted it this year to only people with badges allowed on Thursday as well.

I don't think the server will have too much damage with roughly 30 or so people (at least according to how many people are looking at this thread right now). Unless it's that crappy of a server.

Actually -- I spent a crap ton of money to get this new dedicated server just for Masquerade and Swap Meet registration. It was working perfectly fine yesterday; I had people testing the databases and the SSL cert was in place. Then, this afternoon, the site was completely hosed. I've been fighting with them all day to get it fixed. It should be fixed for Masquerade reg, but unfortunately it was not done in time tonight for Swap Meet. I'm so sorry. It's been horrible >.<

If you FTP into the server, there are thousands of duplicated files, it's just completely and utterly hosed.... I'm not sure what the heck they did to it.

No one is going to be allowed into the room with a box this year unless they come in our entrance; we are going to have a lot more security staff and real staff this year involved. Last year the problem was we couldn't get enough help, and we had vols who would completely flake out and let anyone in. That's not going to be the case this year.

Please DO report this stuff if you see it; we'll take care of it.

Thanks :)

Absolutely fine!

Since I got a low # I'm going to request a WALL spot again for each night. :)  So I won't be able to spot anyone selling stuff w/o registering from my spot.  But hopefully those in the middle will read this and keep an eye out for any suspicious people.

A badge isn't necessary for Thursday, but Friday's requires one.  (Unless they changed it this year?)

We unfortunately did change it for this year, because of some of the illegal activities going on last year. We want a badge + person, no exceptions :( sorry!

I think Thursday is also a good day.  Seeing how last year there were a LOT of people there for pre-reg. and since the Swap Meet is the main event for Thursday, chances are you will sell a good amount of stuff for the 5 hours that night.

For me, since I want to sell as much of my items on Thursday.  Friday I'll be busy ALL-DAY taking pictures and doing photo-shoots, that I will lose track of time and if I have to rush to move items from my car upstairs, the less I have to move, the better! ;)

I know my Xbox 360, games, Blu-Ray movies, movie-standees, and boombox (the one I'm playing my Super Eurobeat music on) will go on Thursday. :)

Looks like the other site is back up -- they both work (and go to the same database).

However, going to leave the other site link for now just in case.

So, you can access the Registration form either:

or

I was reading the rules and for bootlegs, it only really mentions dvds and stuff like that. I got these plushies I don't want from my local arcade (from crane machines and redeeming tickets) and they don't really look official to me but I want to sell them to get rid of them. Would I have to show you how they look like here? I can take pictures if needed and I still have the tags on them.

Also when I was pre-regging when it opened up, I forgot to include "video games" to what I'm selling (I completely blanked out about that one...). Will I need to email about that or will that be okay? I also might be splitting a spot with someone so will I have to say whatever else they are selling too if my s/he has other stuff that I am not selling?

On the registration form that you will give to the staffers when you check-in, you can list what you're selling there if you didn't put it on the online form.  Last night I just put a few items but when I print-out the reg. form, I'll list more items that I'm selling.  :)

I like selling on both nights because Thursday there's nothing else to do, and Friday the Swap Meet's not until 8pm, so I have from the early morning until around 6:30pm (when I go get my stuff ready) to take pictures.  While there are a lot of cosplayers on Friday evening, it's 4-5 hours you're spending selling your stuff, and making a decent-excellent amount of $$.  That's a worthy sacrifice, isn't it?  (Then again, my friends wore their Stakes costumes from Umineko on Friday and I missed doing a shoot of them.. hmmm.  But I made over $500 that night selling stuff. hmmm) :D

But there's still 3 days of the con left after Friday, which is a lot to enjoy.  ;)

Okay coolio thanks! I remember the form...two years ago I think and so doing it online was different (and I had the thrill of the rush of trying to get a good spot thus rushing the form a tad haha).

Can I bring lollipops to give to people who bought stuff from me? I'm bringing dumdums (it's cheap, I have a bunch already, and I'll be cosplaying Stocking from Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt while selling stuff so I figured it fits with the character sorta) so I thought it'd be nifty but if not, I'll just leave them at home.

Edit:
Here's a tentative list of what I'm selling (manga, plushies, video games, random stuff):

Sure! However, selling food is not allowed (unless you are selling like Final Fantasy Potions or  Super Mario Candies, stuff like that is fine). Giving it away shouldn't be an issue.

As far as the list of stuff -- it's really just more of a research proeject to see what people are bringing (I was curious!). I'll probably post a list of types of items for buyers (and sellers) to see once registration is full. Basically it will say "if you are going to the swap meet, this is what you'll find!". You're welcome for the free advertising :D

N00b swap meet seller questions:

I am pretty low on the wait list for a spot, so how will I know if there's a spot ready and available when there is one? Will they call me using the number I put down for registration? Am I supposed to be stuck standing by with all of my merchandise?

Say if I did finally get a spot and I sold most of everything I wanted to sell or had to leave early for an emergency, will there be someone to notify whoever is still waiting for a seller's spot that there's a spot available?

And lastly, does anyone know what the hours are for Thursday's badge pick up/swap meet? I don't want to drive after work to SJ and find that everything's closed til the next day...

Thanks in advance! :)

Honestly, last year, we were able to get everyone on the wait list in (and we had like ... 75 waiting list entries). I can't *promise* that for this year, but it's reasonable to presume that you will get in. If there's anything I've learned from doing this over the years... people flake. We usually lose as much as 50% of our registration, be it cosplay or swapmeet or AMV. Life comes up, and the best laid plans often don't work out.

No, after we fill the room and sell the last spot, we close registration. No one will be allowed in after that point (9pm).

I believe that badge pick up starts around 4 PM and goes until 10 PM. That's my rough estimate from my vague recollection from last year, so take that as you will.

Oh, and understand that if they do the same thing they did last year where they let pre reg AND early reg pick up on thursday, expect a monstrous line. So I would get to the center around noon or 1 lol.

If you're not there for roll call, I think they'll just skip you for that day. It shouldn't have an effect on the other day.

This is correct. HOWEVER, we will allow you to get in if you are pre-registered and there is still space, you just have to wait until the main line has completed. It's not like "so sorry kbai", we'll try to figure out something if we have space left.

I have a question about selling an item.  I plan to sell a costume, my Hibiki Takane (from Last Blade 2 and Capcom vs. SNK 2):

http://akitoyagami.deviantart.com/art/Tokyo-to-High-Profile-Hibiki-11954169?q=gallery%3Aakitoyagami%2F22587949&qo=36

The question is: included with the costume is a live-steel sword-cane which I won't bring with me into the Swap Meet, but I will have a picture of the sword with me to show people that it comes with the costume.  Should someone buy the costume, I will make arrangements to meet with them later and give them the sword (which I will tell them they should bring to their car or hotel-room ASAP.)

Would that be okay?

Thanks for the info!

I have the FAQ and did swap meet before, but I do have a question for Thursday. I know it states that sellers need their badge and we have to be in line by 5pm. However, depending on how long the line is for preregister and what the hours are, is it possible that I can have a friend stay in line for me? I am the main leader for the group badge so I need to pick them up.

Thank you.

sadly you cannot post advertisements on the swapmeet thread.
all adverts must go to the Buy/sell/trade section. But even there you can try and advertise there and tell them what you expect to sell over there! Some people ask if you can hold it on til the swap meet like how i did. Just be sure you know what your selling and who arrives first!...

Word of advise: Make a Expectation list.. that way people can immediatly rush there and get the item first before someone else does..

becuase last time someone requested the sailor moon book 3 and they were kinda offended that it was reserved for one person!

I'm sorry if I wasn't specific about it. That's the stuff I am selling at the Swap Meet and I figured I can advertise what exactly I'm bringing along to the event.

You are welcome to advertise, just not in this thread.

Thanks!

I forget: Do we have access to power in case I want to screen some of the DVDs I'm selling on my laptop? Thanks!

Absolutely no access. Sorry! If we see you with something plugged in, we will ask you to remove it.

Thanks,
Marisa

Alrighty, what if we're using battery powered things? Like if I used my laptop for the duration of its battery life?

I can't see that being a problem based on AA rules. They don't want anything plugged in either but it's ok to use via the battery.

I can't answer this >.< try [email protected] sorry!
I'm a part of rovers and I can say without a doubt you cannot walk around the convention center with it or use it as a prop for a costume. Giving it to the person that bought a costume from you off-site would be something we have no control over. (unofficially, yeah you can)
But email rovers to make sure still :D

There aren't any outlets against the wall if you get a wall-spot, and I didn't see any if you're in the middle-area.

I always buy new batteries for my Boombox to play music for the Swap Meet, which last for maybe all of one evening.  I am selling my Sony XPLOD Boombox to the first person who's interested, and will provide the A/C Power Cord, instructions, and box if they need it:

http://www.pcrichard.com/catalog/product_popup.jsp?productId=693

If someone does buy it from me, I will use my backup boombox (not as effective tho. haha) to play music for the rest of the Swap Meet. :)

#115 for Thursday and #157 for Friday. It does feel low but given what people mentioned in the thread, there might be a glimmer of hope. I may have came across it in the rules but just double checking, I can bring in one person to help carry in stuff and to help sell correct, they too must have a badge for both nights?

Hi there,

Everyone on the waiting list actually got in last year, so you probably have more than a glimmer of hope. :)  We tend to have a lot of people who flake,

As far as someone helping you carry it in: this is not a problem. They just need to have a sticker on their badge and be there at check-in.

Thanks :)

Thanks a bunch actually. Considering the rules, no handcarts or little rolly suitcases? Only what you can carry in hand?

One quick question, if I have a friend go buy me dinner/food but that friend isn't part of my selling stuff spot, can they just come in and out with food?

It could look suspiciously like more items to sell but I'd wager it'll just get checked in the front.

Ok we don't "officially" sanction hand carts because of various union issues. However, they aren't strictly prohibited either.

Rolling suitcases are perfectly acceptable.

Yes, they can bring dinner to you, no problem. The only people who will be checked at the door and redirected are people with boxes and such. If he or she is worried, they can just check in with us.

Thanks!

I have a question!  I'm signed up for a spot on Thursday (not waitlisted) and I see on the Swap Meet rules page it says that lining up for sellers begins at 5 pm, but from what I remember that's right around the time badge pick up tends to open, too.  If we're required to have a badge to enter this year, doesn't that leave us with a fairly narrow amount of time to pick up our badge and then drag all our stuff to the meeting spot?  I'm especially worried because the reg line is always ridiculously long right when it opens, and I know several people get in line hours and hours in advance, which I'm not sure I can/really want to do.

Is this something I need to be worried about?  Should I just try and get into the reg line as early as possible?

So we are currently working on a plan for Thursday Swap Meet participants to be able to check in by standing in a special line. This will be for Thursday swap meet sellers *only*.

I will post more details once we work out arrangements.

I will also try to e-mail all the Thursday participants with the information, and I will update the web page and the first post in this thread once I have more details.

Thanks for your patience :)

Thank you Marisa!
I know myself, along with many others will be looking forward to this information.

I have a (hopefully) quick question though: both my sister and I were planning on selling in the same space together, and we've registered as a "group" with my name first. Hopefully it should be as easy as having me get in the line and picking up our badges?

Again, thank you for all that you do for us,
-Kristi

I'm signed up to sell on Thursday, but I'm also the leader of a group of 7. Will their badges get pulled as well as mine for Swap Meet pick up, or will I have to run over to the normal badge pick up line to get those badges too?

Also, this is a really awesome perk for us Thursday sellers. Thanks so much for arranging it.

That is awesome news that you will have my Fanime pre-reg. badge for me (and the other sellers) on Thursday! :D

Now I don't have to get to the pre-reg. line at 9:00am and wait in-line until registration opens, and this gives me time to do photo-shoots, and take pictures of hall-cosplayers until it's time for the Swap Meet. :)

Thanks so much to you & your staff for doing that this year, Marisa!

Will you also have the program-guide/grab-bags there as-well?

Sorry if this is already answered but after rereading the front page about a dozen times I'm still unsure. When I registered my sister and I for the Swap meet I did so under my own name. However, I just learned that she pre-registered us as a group under her name. The front page says our badges will only be available on Thursday for the person in charge of the group which would be her, however I'm the one who registered us for the swap. Hopefully that makes sense! So I'm really unsure if ours or my badge will be available for the special Thursday pick-up or if we'll have to use the regular line.

Unfortunately, in this case, you would have to pick up your badges in the regular line.

I know it's not a perfect system, and it was very last minute so we were unable to accomodate everyone this year. I apologize :(

I basically provided Registration with the exact Thursday Swap Meet Registration lists. The individuals on there who are pre-registered individually and/or are group leaders, will have their badges pulled. Everyone else will not.

Thank you very much for your understanding! Hopefully we can work out the kinks for next year.

Quick question(and sorry in advance if its been answered, but I didn't see this clarified). I didn't pre-reg for fanime but instead did early registration(different price point for the badge than pre-reg). If we pre-reg'd for the swap meet, will our badges be pulled whether or not we pre-reg'd for the con or did early reg as long as we're sellers at the swap meet?

I know there was, and that was a huge problem. This is why we specifically call out that such items are prohibited this year (in the rules). It's because it's a "floor" event, and we need to be able to scan the room for security reasons. Big items blocking our view is a big no-no. No mannequins, bookshelves, clothing racks, etc. Thanks.

Based on what Marisa said, no you can't. The problem is that they go by the list, it's not as if you guys have tickets that you can exchange or whatever. If you attempted to trade, the person would have to explain to the swap meet staff "Yeah I"m here for John Doe, he should be on the list, but he couldn't make it." And then they would have to take your word for it. What if John Doe shows up afterwards? You can see how this can be a problem.

I know Friday I can. So I can't swap with someone on Friday?

There is a workable way around this that, as far as I could tell, is within the rules. It says you can have an additional person selling with you, but the person who is one the list has to be the one to actually check in, pay, and enter the room with you.

Quote from: Fanime Swap Meet RulesYou may only register for one space per day (Thursday and Friday), and a maximum of two people may share a space (children under 12 years of age under parental supervision are allowed over the 2 person limit)

So I would guess if you don't mind checking in and escorting the person into the space, it would be plausible to allow them to sell in your place at your spot. That way you, the person actually on the list, took hold of the spot and paid for it and everything. Then on Friday, the two of you swap roles. They check you in and pay, then leave you there to sell. It's a matter of finding somebody willing to do all that. The only real problem is if somebody agrees to do this, and Thursday goes down smoothly, but on Friday things fall through and you're unable to get in for whatever reason (person bailed, was late, etc).

This is correct, but there must be at least one person in your booth as well with a badge. So, if you do this, make sure the second person you are checking in has a badge.  In all other cases, I am just requiring one badged individual per space.

Yes O_O and for some bizarre reason it's not up on the web site. I will make sure it's up ASAP.

Mkay. I saw someone bring one in last year but just wanted to make sure.
Big items blocking our view is a big no-no. No mannequins, bookshelves, clothing racks, etc. Thanks.

I have 2 giant movie standees (Watchmen, G.I. Joe) that are about 6-7 feet tall.  To fully display them, I need to prop-them-up against a wall.  May we request a wall-spot if they are available?  I know i requested one the last couple of years.  Just wondering if we're allowed to request a wall-spot.  Thanks! :)

I bought a lot of colored contact lenses and various cosmetics for a bunch of my friends and I to use for our lolita cosplays (to get that ever so popular "dolly eye" look), and I STILL have some left over that are unwrapped/unused. I was thinking of bringing it to the swap meet along with all the other game/anime related stuff to sell. Is that alright?

Personally, I wouldnt buy unwrapped cosmetics or contacts even if I was assured they were new. If they're still wrapped though it shouldnt be a problem.

This is my first swap meet.  I'm now #121 on the waiting list for Friday and was thinking of backing out and shooting for next year, but it sounds like I have a good chance to get in.  My plan is to pick up my reg on Thursday with everyone else, browse, then come back on Friday and sell.

I have quite a bunch of figures/model kits, so I'm currently looking for some large, yet man portable boxes to carry them in.  Being able to bring in a wheeled luggage will help out, which has me wondering now how to carry stuff in a box and pull what I have in the luggage.  We'll see.

Please only bring new items of this nature that are still in the original packaging. Any items which are opened (even if unused) are not appropriate.

You get to pick from any available slot. I'll basically show you a map of what we have, and you get to pick. Obviously first-registered first-served on spaces because of that :)

Other sellers are very friendly and usually come in pairs. I've found that I can leave my space under the watchful eye of one of my neighbors for a couple of minutes while I run to the restroom. Or, of course, if you have a friend that's coming that night too maybe they would help you out. Another issue is dinner. Without a partner you might go hungry! Hope that helps. :)

Flying solo like I said.  I have a cousin who may be attending the con too, but he's not signed up to sell, and I'm not planning on him being there on Friday.

I was going to bring in my dinner of chicken nuggets and eat before it all starts.  Cross my fingers!

Thanks!  Might we be able to look at this map BEFORE we check-in, so we will have an idea of where we would like to be.  And possibly-request it beforehand? (if it's not already taken.)  By the time we check-in, we'll be crazy with our arms full-of-stuff and wanting to get our spot and begin setting up. haha

I don't know if you're the same guy, but someone else asked this question. Plainly: Of course you can give stuff away for free. Why would there be any regulations against that? You don't even have to include it with a purchase, you could just have a part of your space that says "FREE STUFF" and dump it all there.

Unless you are trying to give away food, there should be no issue with that.

It's funny because it might have been me and I just forgot after 2 months (I checked the thread but didn't want to read all of it...)
I only wanted to clarify since a couple items specifically say NOT FOR RESALE versus lots of prints I just want to give out for free, and I didn't want to be bugged about the NOT FOR RESALE items (if I was just tossing it as a freebie). Thanks for answering anyways!

If the item is not for "resale", then giving it away for free wouldn't be a problem because you aren't selling it. :) Also, it's very rare that you are "bugged" at all at the swap meet unless you are selling mature material to minors. 99% of the time you set up and don't really hear from swap meet staff for the rest of the night. So no worries.

Remember:
1. Bring your ID
2. Bring at least ONE FanimeCon Badge per booth
3. Bring your signed Fanime Swap Meet Form
http://www.fanime.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/2011SwapMeetForm.pdf
4. Only one box of adult items with a lid! Check ID.
5. No tables, bookshelves, models, clothing racks, etc.

Thanks everyone, good luck selling!

I know you say we shouldn't line up before 5PM tomorrow, but what time will you start admitting the sellers? I'm wondering since I may be selling by myself tomorrow, and will be attempting to grab dinner before getting in line.

Thanks in advance, even if you don't see it,

Tonight will be interesting because I'm selling tomorrow after work but picking up my badge tonight.  Thankfully everything is packed and ready to go!

Ah QUICK Question, I just notice this when I was packing up.

I'm planning on selling my Final Fantasy XIII Elixir Set

(https://forums.fanime.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jamaipanese.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Ffinal-fantasy-13-elixir.jpg&hash=a70be63af2f1e04e77b1c858f0a15f6357790f8b)

Is this allow or count as consumable? I mean...nobody in the right mind would drink it. Its like drinking GOLD.

That's ... awesome O.o  We've allowed it in the past. Just no selling stuff that people are going to eat/drink.

I can answer some of these based on prior posts:

-Are we allow to play music @ our spot?

Yes per this:

Alrighty, what if we're using battery powered things? Like if I used my laptop for the duration of its battery life?

-Can I bring my laptop? I wanna watch a movie while I'm selling stuff =p

You don't want to interact with people who are browsing?  ???

Search for "laptop" in this thread as there are several posts discussing this.  Laptops can be brought in, but only powered by the batteries, they can't be plugged in.

-Can I bring a stool to sit on? Its one of those folder able retractable outdoor chair.

Only other question: last year we brought one of those folding chairs people use at parades, that won't be a problem to bring again this year to sit on while selling, right?

Absolutely fine!

Thanks :)

I myself am bringing a folding chair on top of a large rolling luggage, 3 boxes, and a backpack.   ;D

-I'm bringing in 4 boxes of stuff to sell, there's an elevator right?

Yes, see p. 2 on the map of the SJCC here: http://www.sanjose.org/EC2/sitepdfs/convention-center-layout.pdf

A last-minute question which hopefully can be answered before the Swap meet begins (or at check-in) :

Will staffers be on-hand to help sellers bring their merchandise to their spot?

I am selling my items by myself this year, and I have a LOT of stuff.  I'm asking friends if they can help me JUST to bring my items from outside Hall 3 to my spot, but if they can't, will staff help me haul my stuff inside?  I have 3 suitcases, 2 boxes, large posters, 2 boomboxes (in a large box), an Xbox 360 (in a box) and other stuff.  Any help is appreciated.  :)   Thanks!

Hey Eurobeat King - Since they won't be letting people in until 6, and I'll be getting there around 5 PM, if I'm there I'll give you a hand. :) I always buy stuff from you anyways. Of course if swap meet staff will help that's great, but if not I'll offer my pair of hands to help. I'll pm you my cell so we can get in touch.

I'm not sure so we'll have to see what Marisa says officially as to why staff were given early entry privileges, but from my understanding the hold up for the swap meet line was largely due to the registration issues. In other words, getting people their badges, digging them out, etc. Then you have groups which made it more complicated or whatever. Whereas Staff sellers were very easy to pick out. There were probably only a handful of them out of 150+ names, so they  could be processed much quicker. That's my own thinking on it anyways.

I could tell they were working out the kinks with this new system last night, but overall I was very glad that I was able to pick my space and thought the overall organization was good. Just the processing was slower than it could have been. :)

According to staff everyone in line got in, as there were a lot of no shows.  Better late than never!

When I walked in the door I was shocked to see how much the person in the corner had, I was wondering if he was a store or something since he had so much stuff.  That and how did he get it all in!   ???

Then I saw how little other people had, so I felt reassured.  I fall in the middle of these 2 examples.

Yeah there are definitely extremes as far as stuff people are selling. Some have 5 plushies and a wall scroll, others have flat hand trucks piled high with boxes full of manga, anime, soundtracks, everything.

Craaazzzyyy.

From previous swap meet experience, and if you look at the floor map, you can see that the first five or so spots are reserved, and are used by Fanime staff.  I was surprised the first time I saw that whole corner spot piled high and deep with figures and boxes and boxes of manga/doujins.  It also makes more sense when you consider the corner guy is usually the first one in, and last one out, as far as sellers go.

I'm still not understanding how some people come in with hand carts.  Shopping carts and rolling luggage are one thing, but these are four-wheeled flatbed hand trucks I saw rolling around last night.  I guess, they might have an "in" with staff, since I recognize those people from swap meets past, but it just doesn't make sense with all of the warnings they give that the building is union controlled.

Okay so swap meet feedback time.

First, thanks Marisa for another great swap meet. Despite the complaints/suggestions below, I really appreciate you and your staff for organizing and running this great staple of Fanime.

1) Thursday night line - The ability for sellers to be able to pick up their badges early was an awesome (and late) addition, and so I understand that working out the kinks took time. Still, the line was pretty terrible on Thursday. I was spot 76 and it took me and my partner about 2 or 2 and a half hours to get inside. I would think the best way to have done it would be to organize the badges by spot on the waiting list. Someone walks up, says "Hi I'm spot X" and under spot x is their badge and any other badges they might be picking up. Hand in form, pay and be on your way. Instead even when I got there people were digging through huge stacks of badges looking for names etc. which seemed to really be slowing up the line. Friday's line was of course, much better.

2) Spot size on Friday - I understand you're wanting the most spaces possible. The small size on Friday didn't bother me. It was paying $20 for half the size of the spot I had on Thursday. For next year if you guys do half spots ONLY on Fridays please let us know in advance (unless I missed that somewhere?) and cost should only be $10 instead of $20.

3) Item inspection - I think that the majority of swap meet sellers can have their material inspected while waiting in line. Approved containers will be given a sticker similar to the ones you had last year so that you know they've been checked and this helps to expedite the check-in process. People with excessive amounts of stuff can take their stuff off to the side for proper inspection.

4) Staff sellers = front of line? - It's not that I'm questioning whether or not they SHOULD be given priority, I'm just wondering what the reasoning was behind it.

I think that's about it. I was also curious about the hand carts in certain cases.

Anyways, thanks again!

Let me echo FanFicGuru by thanking Marisa and all Fanime staff involved in pulling off another great swap meet this year.  It's hard to choose one part of Fanime that I look forward to the most, but it's easily up there at the top with the dealer's hall and musicfest for me.  Now, on to my own comments and observations:

I can understand the complaints about the long wait on Thursday to get in, even if I didn't experience that wait myself.  I was lucky to register at spot #8 for Thursday night, so I got in almost right away, even though I arrived after people had already started to work their way in.  To play devil's advocate, I can see why they might need to keep the badges in alphabetical order - anyone who didn't show up on Thursday would have to have their badges sent back to the registration staff to be picked up like usual on Friday or Saturday. And as long as you know to look at the LAST name and not the first, it really shouldn't take all that long to flip through the badges.  Conversely, couldn't something like the badges have been dealt with while people were waiting in line?

Having said that, I don't really understand the point of having a start time of 8:00, which I was actually expecting, only to see the first 20 spots already being processed and let in at 6:02.  I actually wouldn't mind longer swap meet times, without stepping on the feet and pissing off the people in the dealer's hall on Friday, but instead of getting there with plenty of time to get my forms out and compose myself, I wound up getting in about a dozen spots later than where I had registered.  Again, I'm not really sure how I feel about this part, since longer swap meets are a good thing in my opinion, but it would suck for anyone who only showed up an hour early.

Quote from: FanFicGuru on May 29, 2011, 10:29:58 AM

2) Spot size on Friday - I understand you're wanting the most spaces possible. The small size on Friday didn't bother me. It was paying $20 for half the size of the spot I had on Thursday. For next year if you guys do half spots ONLY on Fridays please let us know in advance (unless I missed that somewhere?) and cost should only be $10 instead of $20.

Actually, spots were only 5'x10' both days this year.  Like I posted a ways back, I'm surprised nobody else really said anything about this.  I decided to hold off judgement until after swap meet so I can see how it actually worked out, and all in all, it wasn't horrible.  I do have to admit I'm a little sore at the $20 cost for the "half space," since it seems like you're getting more people squeezed into the same size room, and we all have to pay the same as last year's larger space.  Cost aside, I think it would have worked out better for the sellers to have a wider spot, rather than a deep one.  It was difficult to interact with people interested when you couldn't reach them because of all the stuff between you.  Not only that, but having wider spots that didn't stick out so far into the room would have eased the congestion of people, which was a problem on Friday.  You had sellers sticking 10' out from the wall, then buyers three people deep, people trying to walk in both directions, and gamers trying to enjoy some eGaming goodness.  Wider spots would mean fewer spaces along the walls, but don't you think you could fit another row or two of spots out in the "middle" of the floor?

And to just touch on some other line-related things, I too think that inspections can at least start while people are in line.  When you've got a bunch of stuff to have opened up, looked at, and then stacked back up all while more people are coming in right behind you, it can be a pain.  For me, getting to my spot after I got my badge and payed my $20 was the most difficult part on Thursday.  And if staffers are going to have reserved spots to sell anyway, why not have them processed even earlier than everyone else, not just at the "front" of the line.  Either that, or have it done parallel to everyone else.  If they're staff, I don't think you'd have to inspect their boxes as throughly or have the same problems with the badges.  Give them some perks because they're staffing, but not at the cost of the paying attendees who wind up having to wait behind them.

Having said all that, I do hope that swap meet was as successful for everyone else as it was for me.  Although I didn't sell quite as much as I would have liked, and didn't get a chance to shop with anyone else other than my neighbors because I went stag, I still had a blast, and wound up more than paying for my weekend with what I did sell.  Fanime may still have Monday to go, but I'm already looking forward to seeing swap meet '12!

Entry inspection: I made the suggestion last year about inspecting while we were lined up waiting, I don't really have a complaint about it this year since they started getting us up and in before the 8pm start. As you can see though the people near the end of the line that waited 2 hours or so would have appreciated it. In hopes of making that process quicker for me and my friend, I passed my stuff off to the inspectors while you guys checked me in, instead of checking in first, then stepping aside to wait for inspection. Might want to suggest that to people next year

Badge Pickup: Glad you guys took some suggestion and consideration from the requests for last year. It's too bad I heard from staff that you guys won't do the same next year, due to stupid people who still went to regular registration when they signed up for the waiting list and made a mess down there for you guys. You guys made it plain and obvious that you would have their badges up at the swap meet. Don't let these stupid people ruin it and punish us sellers who know how to read. In any case, friggin loved it, I sure hope you guys keep this process and streamline it further

Smaller spaces, same price: Seriously? I can understand you guys are still growing and need more money and all. Hopefully you made some decent money off of us to justify moving into a dedicated room just for a swap meet. (One can  dream...) Suggestion? There isn't really much to do to fix the small space situation, aside from moving in to a bigger or fully dedicated room. I think Friday's jam packed attendance should warrant a look into this, as it was a human cattle herding experiment, or worse yet, a massive disastrous death trap waiting to happen.

Staff priority/jumping the line: My earlier comment on Thursday night was tongue-in-cheek. As you can see from the previous posts, people were made to wait nearly 3 hours to get in. The comment made after mine saying "Better late than never"? What if a buyer was looking for something a seller had, but the seller was only let in 3 hours later, and this buyer couldn't find it anywhere else from anybody? Both people lose out. Better late than never? Looks like your statement doesn't hold water in this case. In any case, my main point - if they paid to have a spot just like everybody else, then they're not staff, they're a paying customer to you and should be treated equally as everybody else. No favoritism. Unless of course they don't even need to pay since they're staff, and yes, quite a few of us noticed/realized your reserved spots at the very front entrance were filled by staff. Perhaps my comment about working staff wasn't so tongue-in-cheek after all...

More to come, after I have breakfast

The only complaint I had this year was the size of our space. If I had known the spots were going to be so skinny I would have bought 2, which I hear is what some people did on Friday anyway. Obviously you want to get as many sellers in as possible, but when there is so much congestion it just doesn't work.

Possible suggestion on how to clear up spots: Don't have table top gaming during swap meet hours. The tables take up room and during swap meet I only see people sitting there showing off the stuff they bought to their friends.

OR: One seller per spot. I had 2 people in this small spot, as did many others. If the rules are changed to 1 seller, 1 spot we would have had 2 spots and been alot more comfortable.

Paying $20 for such a small spot didn't help matters either. For that price last year our spots where much more manageable.

GOOD THINGS!

Badges! It was great that you had our badges this year. It made getting our stuff ready for lining up a whole lot easier. Please do this again!

Lining Up! Last year you tried the same thing with people lining up according to their sign up number, but it didn't work out so well. People were just all over the place and information didn't get moved along like it was supposed to. This year that was really improved upon and it made a huge difference.

Staff! You had a great staff this year. One guy in particular was really nice, polite and helpful. I wish I had gotten his name to compliment him properly. There was only one girl who was rather rude and snippy, she wore a red dress with a pink bow/ribbon in her hair. She didn't so anything out of line, she just wasn't very nice about telling us how to set up. Both these encounters were on Thursday.

Next year, if I decide to sell stuff again, provided I HAVE stuff to sell again, I know exactly which spot(s) to choose for both days.

I keep telling myself that this year will be THE last time I sell-stuff at the Swap Meet..  But most-likely you'll see me there, selling stuff next year at Fanime 2012!  ;D

The greatest part about this year's Swap Meet was being given my badge when I checked-in on Thursday.  Not having to wait in that cluster-cuss for pre-reg. downstairs all day was such a relief, and it allowed me to wander around, take pictures of cosplayers, plug my laptop in and go online, get food, and just be somewhere where it was calm & relaxing until it was time for the Swap Meet.

Hopefully the staff will do that again next year.  Thanks for making this year's Swap Meet my favorite of all the years I've participated. :)

Glad to say that the pole says that used cosplay items are allowed, but what about handmade used fashion items? I might try to sell an old (used) lolita dress that I made years ago, but I'm worried that it won't be accepted because it is handmade and is not a cosplay item.
