Hotel and Facilities / Re: Pre Reg required for Hotel?

So I shouldn't be worried about this seemingly scary warning box? I can't pay for my badge for at least two weeks, so I want to make sure I don't need it in order to book my hotel. This is different then before so I'm a bit confused...

I was worried about this, as well. It seems like you have to check out before you can try to reserve a room.

I'm down tentatively as Mizaistom.

Are there any plans for a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure gathering this year? The one last year was fairly sizeable so I'd be surprised if there was no interest for 2014.

The gaming hall especially doesn't have a lot of regulars in cosplay and it's really good. One of my favorite Fanime moments is getting hype over Marvel 3 with a bunch of cool people.

You can go to gatherings in plainclothes, and talk to a bunch of people who are fans of the same thing you are.

Panels, video rooms, and karaoke are all really fun too.

Registration / Re: Badge Pick Up Line
February 12, 2014, 01:03:48 AM
From what I heard, the line was bad last year because 7 of the 8 badge printing machines broke down on Thursday. It will probably not happen again this year, but things can always happen.

Sadly, we are unable to put on the panel due to multiple issues this year.
#7
The panel is going to be 16+. I've found that having a few limitations often makes things better/sillier.

Do you write fanfiction? Do you write Shrek/Madoka Magica crossover fanfiction? Do you write it faster than you read this sentence? No? YOU WILL! Test your creative mettle as you compete with other writers in this fast-paced competition to find the Greatest Speed Fanfic Champion of All Time!

The Fanfiction Bee is a competition where players must come up with premises for fanfiction based on random prompts within a short amount of time. The generator we're using is based off of the Terrible Crossover Fanfiction Idea Generator (http://kaction.com/badfanfiction/), but it's modified with more series, more premises, and a timer.

A sample prompt: "Your challenge is to write a crossover fanfiction combining Bill Cosby and Final Fantasy XIII. The story should use discovering the power of friendship as a plot device!"

Prompts are judged by a panel of SECRET GUEST JUDGES. The exact format of the competition will be determined by future dry runs and by actual attendance at the panel, but will either be a 1 vs. 1 single elimination tournament or will be more typical spelling-bee format with a line of people pitching until they're eliminated. Contestants will have a time limit of 1-2 minutes.

The winner will recieve a trophy engraved with "Greatest Speed Fanfic Champion of All Time".

Date, time, and location are currently TBA.

I was planning on making an Ishimaru cosplay from Dangan Ronpa. Is the costume too close to a military uniform?
#11
Aaagh I thought I had sent my application but it was still in my drafts folder. Oh well, fingers crossed!
#12
It had a PS3/360 rerelease (in English!) so it could probably be done in egaming.

Herp, thanks guys! I went ahead with the submission request. Can I get a headcount, perhaps? ;v; And what characters y'all and your friends are gonna be. uvu

Love you all!

Sorry for the late reply! Off the top of my head, we have for sure:

Ishimaru
Yamada
Fukawa (Non-Syo)
Togami
Mondo
Naegi
Kirigiri

We have tentative plans for a Hagakure and an Asahina, too.

Saturday, Sunday, or late Friday afternoon would work best for us because a lot of us won't be done with class until Friday's half-over.

Me and a bunch of my friends from college are doing a DR group this year, so a gathering would be super cool. I'll be going as Ishimaru.

I had a lot of fun last year and I'm super down for performing again this year! I've already started working on my routine.

how do i be funny

Comedy comes from the unexpected! When preparing your routine, try to come up with jokes that go places the audience isn't expecting. Don't worry if someone else has done a joke like yours–just put your own spin on it! Also, make sure to practice. Practice twice as much as you think you need to!

As part of my costume I was planning on carrying a portable white board (something like this) and writing phrases during shoots. I would not be using the white board to solicit anything (or even write stuff on it outside of photos); is it still allowed?
#17
I'd love to see a Bemani artist like Ryu*.
#18
Skullgirls if it's out by May, and Vampire Savior if someone has it.
#19
I'd love to see a fighting game rep like Ishiwatari back in '10. Maybe Mike Z (Skullgirls lead dev)?

I went to the last one and I really enjoyed it. There were some great people there I enjoyed talking to, but sadly I lost the notepad with their names :-[

I'd highly recommend it for this year.
