Curiosity question-is there a preferred delivery method for cosplay diaries and referencs? I prefer going paperless wherever possible, especially given the cost of color ink, so I'd prefer having a pdf I could hand over with my audio/video files. Or I could upload it to a dropbox folder I share with the judges.  Alternatively, I could bring a tablet with the diary to judging, but obviously that couldn't stay with the judges. There are plenty of options.

If I have to just print something, I will, but if paperless works for them, that works best for me too.

In the past for all my masquerade judgings, I personally just used my phone for showing references to the judges. They don't need to keep them as far as I'm aware, so it works just fine. Before I had a smart phone and did print outs they didn't want them so yeah lol.

I absolutely love the idea of having a drawing + cosplay contest, but, I'm a little bit confused about how the whole winning design thing will then factor into having cosplayers 'bid' on designs? It makes it sound like this contest has 2 layers of being really hard to actually get into the contest....

I did have another question though, just as a sort of side thought. I know in the rules last year at least there was a statement or something that makes the weapons policy more open for the masquerade? It'll make a little more sense if I say we're doing Assassin's Creed 4, but I have an antique sword that my grandpa gave me that fits the period, and costume pretty well. I already know that it is not ok to carry around the con (7th Fanime, not news to me), but I'm wondering if it's alright for the masquerade. It's alright if its not, i'm just curious because it would make a very nice addition.

Am I completely blind or is there nothing up about Masquerade Reg this year? I wasn't going to do it again cause last year was kind of a mess, but idk can't stay away from competition I suppose.

I did want to ask a question though before I register at all if it is still open. Is it alright to put a person as a maybe on the sign up sheet? The cosplay I would like to enter is already done, but I'm making a partner cosplay for my best friend for this year and A, I don't actually know if she'll want to compete, B Not sure how 'competition ready' it's going to be considering I haven't started it yet ^^;

D8 Aw man, I am so dissapointed ;_; I was really hoping this gathering would be Sunday. I'm committed to the Final Fantasy gathering every year on Saturday ;_;
I could potentially change because there is a pretty big gap between them if it stays being 5 ( the FF gathering is usually at like 12)  But changing costumes takes so much time >.<
I'll have to see what my BFF says, Because we are planning on doing Mary Read and Anne Bonny for Fanime! Just probably on Sunday...

I remember from doing our skit back in 2010 that as well as the first few rows, I could see all the cell phone lights and stuff, which I thought looked pretty cool XD  I'm excited to be on the huge ass stage again, even if I'm goin' it alone. Still debating over my audio though. To make it a short skit that probably won't make any sense to people or not XD

Has anyone heard back after submitting an entry?  I haven't gotten anything in my e-mail and was curious to see if I'm alone in this wait.

I heard back, but I sent in an email the night it was supposed to open. Though. they said they would be emailing out an official signup paper and such which I haven't gotten yet, so yeah I think they might just be busy or something.

My first masquerade ( doing a skit and first at fanime XD ) luckily didn't get booed or anything, but, man I wish there would have been something like this to sort of tell us to pay attention to costumes. We didn't even get them judged we didn't care at all ^^;;; i don't know if you guys remember the "You can't suceed in the masquerade if you don't have any yaoi" Skit in '10, but that was us XD I was the Sora.
oh how far have I come from not caring what so ever to entering in a cosplay specifically for craftsmanship loool.

I've been scanning through, and I can't seem to find:
1. what the max time for a walk on is? I'm trying to figure out what audio I want to play, and that is kinda important to know.
2. Also, is there some sort of rule against having an audio file with words in it for just doing a walk on?
What I'm wanting to do is play a piece of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF-FkWAmTPk (It starts around 8:34) as my audio file, because I'm planning to enter with the purple dress Lightning is wearing, but I don't know if that would just be weird or too skit like ^^; If it is I can easily just use the background music off the soundtrack.

Max time for walk ons are 1:30, I believe. Or 90 seconds. If your music has dialogye, you might want to consider a short skit. A skit can be 2:30 long, but it can also be shorter.

Hmm... I've considered a short skit, but I'm afraid of boring people :/ Because my focus isn't performance, plus, I'm by myself and stuff >.<

I'm a little confused, is Reg going live tonight at midnight? (making it midnight the 29th) or tomorrow at midnight? I am a little confused.

I'm just a little worried about the hem line and the top being against the rules. The hem line on the shorter of the asymmetrical comes just above my knee and I don't know if that is ok or not.(it looks a little more in the picture, but once it is finished, the layers are going to weigh down more). The top just because its completely strapless and lower cut I don't know if there is a rule about that. It's a corset so its won't be sliding down or anything.
It would just be nice to be able to wear this since, hopefully, I'm going to enter the masquerade with it, and I would love to just be able to walk over and join the ball :p

They have a few announcements twards the end of march, and the signups will be in the beginning of April. I believe last years was on the 3rd. No need to panic over the date. I've been in the past three years, and though many of the groups sign up on the first date the registration is open, it doesn't fill up for a few weeks. People drop out, things happen, ect. After the first 50 spots are taken, there will be a waitlist. I was #17 on a waitlist two years ago, and still got to perform. So, no worries, though I suggest signing up the day it opens. Just check the site for announcements every other day.

Oh ok cool ^^ yeah I was in 2010, so maybe things calmed down a bit. Thank you! ^^ I'm defiantly going to jump on signing up as soon as I possibly can. I'm putting a whole hell of a lot of work into into my Midnight Mauve cosplay, so I figure its time to at least try Fanime's masquerade again ^^

I competed years ago in the Fanime Masquerade, and I remember that then it was hard to get a spot, so does anyone know the general time frame signups are? I keep getting myself into a panic that I'll miss the registration date >.<
