So what's your favorite thing about Fanime?
Mine is seeing people that I haven't seen for the whole year and hanging out in the hotel rooms eating junk food the whole time. ^.^
That, and taking pictures.
I enjoy the atmosphere of conventions, being around people with similar interests, all there for the purpose to have fun.
I like meeting interesting people and going on adventures or people-watching. and yaoi events!

Quoted for truth. ;D
I guess last year was meeting Momoi, getting to have breakfast with her and getting to be on stage with her.
But in general it's just hanging out with friends from out of state. Though I guess MaidCafe work is kinda fun and getting to meet/befriend a lot of them.

I heard a funny story that you
almost didn't get to be on stage with Momoi. :D
My favorite thing about Fanime is the people. Last year was my first year and I made a ton of new friends. Everyone for the most part was very cool and kind. I got lots of hugs from random people too. I came in a stranger and I left feeling like there was a group of people I fit in with. Typically I would feel like a weirdo or outcast with other people, but at Fanime I feel like a weirdo or an outcast with lots of other like-minded weirdos and outcasts to mingle with. :D

It's not so funny, because it resulted in a sprained leg and chest pains for a week.
Basically, Jun gets called on stage for saigo no rock. Then she calls the front row of the middle isle (basically the fan club section) to the stage, so I run up after, and security stopped me for being like... the 8th person or something... but the way he stopped me was a lariat to the chest, I flew about 5 ft, and hella landed badly on my leg. Luckily Derrick stepped in and was yelling at them to let me through, so security let me pass, then some guy slams the side stage door in my face and was like "NO MORE PEOPLE!" Again luckily Derrick was there and told them to open up and let me in. If you watch the videos you see me show up like a minute after everyone else. Good thing adrenaline kicked in, because the next day I was dying, and had to limp for the next week.
I have NO idea! I think it's just the interesting/hilarious happenings. I spend most of my time alone there, since my friends are all competitive gamers and I am...not. I shouldn't have as much fun as I do. I like people watching there a lot, and it's a lot of fun in general.
Meeting Reuben Langdon...I love Dante from DMC so meeting the voice and MoCap from the game just made me want to cry! Still so awesome that I got to meet him TWICE!
it's like another world for me. a world away from this world that's a reality.
yeah, pretty metaphorical....but it's true >.>
Fanime comes every year and is the mother of anime conventions here in Northern California. It is a getaway from the real world where
you don't have to deal with conflicts and BS at a job or to relieve pressure and subject struggles from school. Every year something will be
new such as guests, anime programming and video games. Also entertaining from the randomness of the attendees to hilarious to cold
monlogues we say amongst our friends that people in the real world take it as a offense. This year I will expect something at that nature
and will enjoy every bit of it.
...that fanime exists.

Oh man, I didn't hear that it was
that brutal. I had just heard from Calvin that you got chest blocked by one of our guys when you tried to bolt on stage. I didn't hear that you fell or got hurt. I also didn't hear about the door thing. :-X I knew that they were only given a certain number of people to allow on stage though and that you just so happened to be the cut-off point. From what I heard they were pretty skiddish to let
anyone on stage in the first place, but Momoi insisted to allow a group on stage. The other issue was that the guy controlling the admittance to the stage had
no clue who you were. He just knew it was his job to protect Momoi from rabid fans. I'm glad you were still able to enjoy yourself on stage after that though. :)

Ya it's not his fault, I don't blame him or anything. Julia also forgot Jun and my backstage badge thing, so that didn't help. No one's fault really, and it was totally worth it anyways.
That's a hard one.
I'm not really into anime (gasp!), so it's not really for anything anime-related.
I do like the con atmosphere quite a bit. I also love shopping for cute things in the dealer's room. Cosplay is always fun.
But it's really between two things -- the lolita events (and seeing some of my friends), and the B&W Ball. <3
oh man, my first time going to the swat meet... i swear a chorus of angels was singing as I bought my first used keychain and used fishnet gloves ;D ;D ;D
Meeting people with the same interests and just getting away from everything else in the world, its a place where I belong.

Almost literally took the words out of my mouth. :D I almost said nearly the exact same thing. I agree with this.
Many Photo oportunities, the panels, gaming, catching up on old times, and of course, watching anime.
I think for me it's getting to me other people that go all out in cosplaying that I do. I think just meeting people in general is pretty coo with me.
I love meeting Hiroyuki Yamaga year after year. Ever since I started to go in 2007, I have met him every since time I go to Fanime.

this is the reason right here, being able to let yourself be you with out people having to look at you with a funny look is a good feel, especially if your self conscious.
At fanime I just love going up on stage and making idiot of myself for ten minutes while people laugh at me .XD
Yeah, quoted twice!

OMG I TOTALLY LOVE YOUR AVITAR!!!!
FMV competition. I love watching the new AMV's every year, as well as re-watching some of the classics during the Top 100 AMV screenings.
Also playing Dance ManiaX until my arms fall off. I enjoy having an audience.
That every time I go to fanime there's always a story to be told. either good, bad, or the strange lol.
I love that most everyone is friendly and that there's always some random person that comes up and tells you they like your clothes or want to give you a hug.
I love doing group cosplays and walking around, and meeting new friends. I LOOOVE giving hugs to people as long as they don't look like the type to try and follow up on that. Oh, and I love strangers who buy me ice cream. <3
Hanging out with friends and shopping in the dealer room.
well, i've only been there once but the atmosphere feels like home because i rarely see such things like a convention and do I rarely spend days at one partying with people similar to myself. Fasho......
Because it means I can fly off to America from Scotland, get a holiday from both work and university; meet people on the same or similiar wavelentgh as me and I get to DRESS UP! I LOVE DRESS UP!! 8D

Ditto. It's awesome that people come from so far away. :-)
i enjoyed watching those four guys do the yatta dance all the way down the hallway last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFEw4XbXYzM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFEw4XbXYzM)

Yus. :3 Fanime was my first ever convention, and I've only been to one other convention since then; J-Culturecon in England as it's close to where I live :F
It was fun, but a lot of people were shyer at J-Culturecon than at Fanime. >:

Perhaps many English are simply more shy then Americans. Americans are quite shamless.

Wow. That was epic. Thank you.
So many things but besides being four day con and the awesome masquerades, I like the swap meets there since they have good deals. One time I bought all of the episodes of El Hazzard on Laserdisc. I think about it for $25 or $50.
cosplaying, cosplay gatherings, pictures and yaoi moments~ :3
My favorite thing about Fanime is being able to be a spaz. Sure, you can be a spaz anytime you want but some things are just more normal at an anime convention. Ironically, I hardly watch anime while there. Oh yeah, I love wasting my money in the dealer's room. I practically leave broke each year.
Oh yes wasting every dime you got, then calling up a friend to ask if he could spare $5 dollars so you will have just enough money to buy that Wallscroll. Good Times, Good Times...
Reminds me of how I somehow managed to spend exactly the amount I brought down to the last penny last convention. Quite an amazing event really...

I actually DESPISE this about fanime. People think fanime is an excuse to act irrationally with the excuse of "It's okay I'm at an anime convention". Last I checked anime conventions are still part of the real world. While it's fun to cut loose and to be around people with a similar interest, acting like you're no longer part of society isn't really allowed nor encouraged.

not everyone is financially responsible~ especially when tempted with things such as random things & omake anime stuffs :P that and/or running around with a parent's credit card or personal money savings doesnt really help either. >_<
" anime is worst than drugs... i think the addiction to drugs would be cheaper "
til some of you know the struggles of dealing with debt and working your butt off to earn say monies, you'll appreciate the self control of "spazzing" appropriately without having to drown yourself in anime collection debts.

Uh Jerry... you realize what you posted had nothing to do with what was being talked about right? Spazzing had nothing to do with spending money, those were two completely different thoughts.
Spazzing referred to action and how one acts at a convention. Screaming random things, sitting on the floor and creating a scene, being generally... stupid.
Which is why rovers is 110 people strong this year ::)
Well, I spaz with restraint. I don't do anything that would harm other people and I doubt I do anything to annoy others.
Defintally the atmosphere ^.^ Meeting new people that share the same interests, espically at the gatherings. Having some place where its ok to cosplay and have fun! I also oddly love the looks we get from people just passing by on the street XD haha it absolutely makes my day! Hang out until midnight with Souseiseki(Whom I only get to see once a year) and then grabbing such healthy snacks from the vending machine and hanging out in the hotel room XD I love pretty much everything bout Fanime!
