It was so much better this year! Minimal line, a better floor, room to dance...the only thing I miss from the Fairmont was the ice water. XD

I wouldn't bet on the convention center expansion being done in time, but Parkside is just fine.

Plan A = GoH to perform. Plan B = Our Guest Relations and MusicFest departments will perform.

I actually would love to see plan B.
Our Guest Relations department has been made aware of this thread. =)

Hahahaha! I vote for A & B!

Big Event Showcase / Re: What's the B&W Ball like?
March 02, 2012, 11:33:35 AM
I went to the B&W Ball in 2010 & 2011. Even though it's a formal event, it's not stuffy at all and you certainly don't have to know every dance to have fun. That being said, if you could find a dance class before you go to Fanime (perhaps one at a community college), I *guarantee* you will have 100 times more fun than if you don't know any. If you don't have means of finding a dance class ahead of time, you might considering picking one or two dances and going to the respective lessons. That way you don't spend too much time, but you'll still know a little.

The lessons are a lot of fun; I went to one for foxtrot with my cousin. Even though we had never danced like that before, we learned enough in one lesson to dance it satisfactorily.

One thing to keep in mind for the ball is that many dances use what is known as a "line of dance". This means that all the couples move on the floor in the same direction, forming a sort of circular freeway. Faster couples move on the inside, slower stay to the outside. One problem last year was that the room was so crowded it was sometimes impossible to follow the line of dance. Part of the problem stemmed from people standing in one place on the floor doing different dances than were being played.

My point is, no one's going to bite you for being a beginner; I've been there myself. ;) But it really soured the experience when people clogged up the dance floor because they paid no attention to the line of dance. Hopefully the room will be bigger this year (space wasn't a problem in 2010). In any case, I think you'll find the ball to be a good substitute for prom---hope you'll decide to come!

While there were many cute and epic moments, I'll pick FLOW's performance. 8D

I was so glad that hall was packed! The atmosphere was so friendly and upbeat, I have to say musicfest was even better than last year!

My only regret is not buying a CD or a T-shirt sooner, as they all sold out on Sunday.

Fanime was amazing, but on Tuesday I had a midterm. Hopefully I did alright. DX
I'm still feeling sleepy from late nights before and during Fanime, so I need to catch up on sleep. Mostly I'm just trying to get back into the usual routine.
(I also put up art on my wall and arranged figures. Seems to be a fad ^^)

I think it may have been Cute Storm. Their store appears to be out of octopus plushies atm, but they seem to be pretty good about restocking. You can also follow them on deviantArt to see what they've made and what kind of specials you can get.

People who are too darned impatient and take it out on random people. >=\

The other day, I went to the drive-by mailboxes outside the post office to mail a stack of letters. When I stopped, there was no one behind me. I paused to recount them and then I dropped them into the box in groups of three to make sure I didn't miss any.

What do you know, some lady pulls up behind me, almost hits me, and essentially tells me to hurry it up, when she's been behind me for what, 10 seconds?

When I looked at my clock as I pulled out, it was a couple minutes to 5PM. Ok, so maybe she was running late for something.

BUT LATE OR NOT, IT'S YOUR OWN DARN FAULT. Don't go giving me a hard time for bothering to actually stop at the box.

Stop to smell the flowers once in a while, folks. It could do a world of good.  ;)

Alas, procrastinating on this thread will *not* complete unfinished work or magically sew that cosplay.

Time to get cracking! >=\

Dealers Room / Re: Anyone lining up REAL early?
May 20, 2011, 10:21:00 AM
I'd say lining up early is only worth it if there's a good chance that a specific item you're looking for will sell out quickly.

Last year a dealer told me that certain items sell out in the *first hour the hall is open*. So yeah, I might line up early this time... ^^;

Can we use cash to pay for badges at con? Or will it be necessary to use a card?

SWEET! Thanks for giving everyone a second chance to see them! (I seem to remember reading more than one broken-hearted post last year from those who couldn't make it...)

I went last year, not really knowing much about them, and had an absolute blast. Everyone who went with me had an awesome time too, and now we can actually repeat that experience!
