welcome to the boards ... er again Kites.

Keep a lookout for random hangouts and random parties that i may or may not have at my home.

Let see... next big thing would probably be a Ren Faire gathering or a Halloween or Yaoi Con meet up.

and of course I'm in East side san jose.

if you have an xbox360 or just feel like a random reason to be nerdy/geek/ anime marathon is needed, why not have a hang out of your own?

I prefer to wear non cosplay outfits, but thats just me.

your more than welcome to start a cosplay gathering, just choose a time and location and we'll see if ppl want to meet up.

the rest is pretty much up to you and assuming ppl are available and willing to meet up... in person.

While you were out of the area, No-Name Anime moved to the Santa Clara library. You're welcome to join us  this Saturday afternoon (10/10, http://www.nnanime.com/flyers/2009/fly09_10.html (http://www.nnanime.com/flyers/2009/fly09_10.html)) and following 2nd Saturdays of the month. Besides us, there are other anime clubs like Tsunami (San Jose State) and Foothill.

In general, Thursdays at 7pm.  I don't know if they are active this month or not. Their online schedule  http://studiokyuu.com/tsunami/Schedule.html (http://studiokyuu.com/tsunami/Schedule.html) was for an old showing when I looked. If you don't find out before Saturday, I can probably find out then from someone who regularly attends both No-Name and Tsunami.

Our December meeting is a little more festive than the meetings for the rest of the year.
Last year, ININ cosplayed.
See http://www.nnanime.com/events/NNanniversary15/index.html (http://www.nnanime.com/events/NNanniversary15/index.html)

(https://forums.fanime.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nnanime.com%2Fevents%2FNNanniversary15%2Fthumbs%2Fp0058.jpg&hash=65c4691874830a387e202367dc8ab1ab1d49a81d)

Most of the people who attend No-Name never cosplay. Depending on exactly who shows up this month, there might be a few who cosplay sometimes if not at No-Name meetings.

Title: I SERIOUSLY need soemone to hang with x.x
Post by: Kites-kun on November 09, 2009, 04:14:52 PM
Ok, so, two months here in San Jose and sTILL no luck in the finding friends dept.
The only reason I made friends in Sacramento is because we have "Sac Con" (A mini con held once every season, 4 times a year) and another event called "Animania" held at Sunrise/Downtown mall, because of me and another friend we got over 200 people every time to show up, even from as far as nevada. But, here, in San Jose, I have no connections and useless. The only people who wanna hang out are 24 (or older) guys, and, to be honest, Im kinda terrified of guys >.> (Because of stuff that happened in the past)
I... need... people MY age to hang out with Dx (17-20.. im 19! Guys or girls... doesnt matter as long as they arent like, 25-50 x.x)). And, I dont really know how to go about making friends here! I mean, I used to go to the mall with my friends and we'd attract more cosplayers that way, but I dont do that here... because going to the mall by yourself is kinda.. sad and made of fail. x.x

Blahhhh!!! Dx
Suggestions?
Hit me up? Xp

the EASIEST way to make new friends is to host a gathering- trust me if you have an event [and promise to bribe ppl with food] THEY will come. Period.

Speaking of which... I should host another gathering or figure out a way to get rid of FIVE+ POUNDS OF EPIC CHOCOLATE WEDDING CAKE-

Thats right.  I Repeat.  I HAVE 5+ POUNDS OF EPIC CHOCOLATE WEDDING CAKE- This is not a lie.

*Reason* I went to a wedding reception last night and got to the dining hall over an hour early and go recruited to help out with decorating from, setting center pieces, blowing up balloons and streamers, setting up the DJ station among other random "gofer" helping thingys.

My reward--> THEY GAVE ME 5+ POUNDS OF WEDDING CAKE- essentially all of the left overs because the bride and groom [and their families] would have thrown it out.

So Calling all randomly hungry fanboys & fangirls out there.... DOES ANYONE WANT EPIC CHOCOLATE WEDDING CAKE? :P

Seriously- other I will throw it away in a week or so.

So um, hold a gathering this week, and I will give out massive amounts of cake. :D

or pm me for my info/address and stop by East san Jose and PLEASE help me unload/eat this cake.
~THERE IS SO MUCH CAKE. IT IS NOT A LIE.

the cake has been adopted and will probably have a new home [in someone's] belly. --- with that behind me.

again i recommend a gathering of some type involving giving ppl food. or maybe a good movie...
Say Ninja Assassin   or Sherlock Holmes ?

assuming your not crazy, socially awkward, or a creepy fanboy- then I'll assume you have the ability to make friends.
oh wait. I'm already all those things. :P

I don't think you neccessarily need anything to bribe people with, sometimes just hosting it and people bringing things is good enough.  Although I guess you're too young for booze and such :P

even something simple like an anime, video games or just have at least some form of entertainment or draw for a gathering and if ppl will wanna show. they'll show.

thats how i did it. :P
that and my house is/was/still is known for epic parties :P

Easiest way to make friends when you're 19 is at school. Join a club or something. And you shouldn't really be so picky as to not make friends with people older than you. If you really don't have ANY friends here at all just roll with it and take what you can get.

I've been hanging out and chilling out here [east side san jose] for many years.... probably before you were born.

I call shenanigans!  :D

i have no cosplays skills, and even if i did, im not very photogenic, though my roommates are into visual K, EGL and random forms of Lolita which in their minds is fashion NOT cosplay... but thats a whole other debate.

as for me im still getting ready for my black friday adventures.

Or maybe we could have a mini movie gathering and watch Disney/Pixars  UP  at my place or something.

you guys talk a big game of meeting up and hanging out - but no one is a person of action... yet :P

oh and dont forget that the Fanime Staff meeting is Sunday Nov 22 at SJ Marriott at Salon III - fanime staff is the BEST ppl to make friends with!!!

wink wink ;)

Many of us aren't shy.Its just that many meetings happened when we are working that day or at school. And their have been times when no one has shown up.

If you're not well known in the Forums or whatnot for gatherings, your announcements of hosting gatherings will be ignored.

Stop crying for attention, and attempting to deter the OP from trying to get a gathering together. Just because whatever you tried to do didn't work, doesn't mean you need to destroy other people's chances of hosting a group.

I would hold a gathering, but I have nothing to bribe people with Xp

With an attitude like that you'll get nowhere. Just find something interesting to do that can involve a bunch of people who are not familiar with each other to still have fun.

I do not see how you would think my post is a Mikey post at all, being that I'm warning you to stop doing what you're doing (as a moderator), still whining about no one coming to your gatherings. We get it, no one came. Drop it. This is now an official warning to stop talking about your past experiences with failure of attendees to your gatherings in this section. I'm tired of it, and I'm sure everyone else is too.

Sorry Sukebe but I'm gonna have to agree with Mizuki here.  Comparing Mizuki to Mikey is really uncalled for.

Hey I dont claim to be an expert with hosting gatherings and you have a freedom to show your concerns for a lack of attention or accept the fact that not all gatherings can be successful. There are FAR MORE social outlets beside this just ONE MESSAGE BOARD.

I technically only know a handful of ppl from these boards myself but reason why I or other like me have a good reputation is because we're INVOLVED with Fanime by being staff members, ppl know is in person, in real life, and they choose to hang out with us after several meetings/interactions with us.

I suggest you go to a fanime meeting yourself and make friends in person before you assume that ppl can just randomly meet you without a prior exposure to you considering that you do have a tendency to assume to worse of ppl just because they choose not to go your gathering or do not respond to EVERY post you have.

The world is a big place, so accept it. Kthanks.

Stop trying to play the innocent victim. You are well aware of what you've done, and why I'm telling you to stop, and if you have not the slightest clue of it, I'll be glad to lay it out to you. Take responsibilities for your actions, and maybe people will actually come to your gatherings!

p.s. To the OP of this thread, I'm sorry for this mess, but if you want I can lock this thread and you can make a new thread. Give me a PM.

Back On-Topic (in case this thread gets locked).

Kites-Kun: You know you can contact me anytime for any places to hang out in San Jose.  Either I drop by around 1-4 times a month or I can give you contacts of friendly people in SJ who are willing to talk to you and share the same interests as you.  You know me pretty well on this since living in Sacramento.  :)

I havent been to the Japanese friendship garden or Kelly park in years now come to think of it. I'd be down for a mini or mass hang out time and weather permitting.

I believe in the spring a local group [from Cosplay.com] has a big cosplay / picnic event. If you're a big time cosplayer you might want to check it out.

its a simple and easy way to meet fellow cosplayers in the bay area.
