Registration / Group Registration Discount?
March 06, 2007, 02:58:47 PM
Quote from: "Tuplica"Dude... no group discounts... what's the point in registering in a group, then?  Convenience when picking them up...?  Although I just read in another thread that in at least one situation people couldn't have just the 'leader' go and pick up all of them...

Doesn't make a difference to me, seens to how I've never done a group registration and won't again this year, but... seems kinda odd.

The leader is able to pick up the badges for your entire group.

Staff & Volunteers / So.... is it too late?
March 06, 2007, 02:56:12 PM
Quote from: "MonkeyRikku"Damn, the only volenteer experiance i have is in hospitality and serving Staff members breakfast...why do you have no breakfast makers?!

I'm good at that sort of thing.

I'll give you a free badge if you make my staff members breakfast throughout the convention. :P

[Edit: Didn't mean to send it the first time]

But seriously, there's always a staff out there for you... It's just up to what you want to do. No experience? That's fine. :)

Gaming / Tournament Arcades Are a "No-Go"
March 06, 2007, 02:51:31 PM
Quote from: "SohmaYuki"Milton is lying, he just doesn't want me winning all the tournaments and laughing.
You wouldn't win or laugh. :P

Quote from: "Ayanami Rei First Child"Well it would be a pain...but you could have people sign up and hold a tourney...but still let other people play as well in-between if need be. That or you could hold them over the course of two nights and do them super late when there's fewer attendees.
Yeah, but that would require alot of work on whoever organizes it and I'm sure there's something wrong with doing that. I don't know all the rules, though. *shrugs* (This is where you talk to PassingTheBuck if you want more information).

Registration / Re: Badge question (usage)
February 27, 2007, 05:40:27 PM
Quote from: "FanFicGuru"Wow. Ok, thanks for letting me know that first part. I was always under the impression that letting someone else use your badge was a no-no.

If that's the case, I apologize to SuperKawaiiNeko for chastising him after he offered her that advice. >_<

Sharing badges is a "no-no" if you are trying to use the same badge to get in multiple people in the same day. :)

Registration / Re: Badge question (usage)
February 27, 2007, 10:35:27 AM
Ack, sorry about the late reply to this post.

Quote from: "usako"Are there rules written about usage of a purchased badge? I looked but, could not find anything related. I read a reply earlier in this forum regarding this, but just want to make sure because my situation is different.

My husband will be going to fanime with me only on friday, but will not go after that. I was wondering if it would be okay for my friend to use that badge for Saturday/Sunday/Monday?
It is ok for you to pick up your husband badge and let your friend use it on days where your husband will not be attending. I do have to say that all responsibility will be placed on you if your friend did something that she is not supposed to with the badge (i.e. resell, etc.). Other than that, you're fine.

Quote from: "usako"Hello!! Thank you for your replies!!

I had no idea that I could register as a group! I thought it had to be 10 people not only for the discount, but to register as a group in the first place.

The next problem -- I read somewhere that each member of the group would need each person's ID to pick it up or else it cannot be done though? My friend is in Chicago-- so that is not possible in my case. Which is where the idea of using my husband's name comes in mind.

You are allowed to register as a group with less than 10 people, but (as stated) you will not receive any group perks. As for the "next problem", I have answered that in my response above. :)

Thanks! ^_^

Gaming / First-person shooter?
February 27, 2007, 10:31:36 AM
Bleh, it's been a long time since I've played any FPSes (at my last job, I got to test/program Battlefield 2 :P) but the last ones that I played were:

- BF1942 (with and without various mods)
- BFV (with and without WW2 mod)
- BF2
- Day of Defeat
- Half-Life 2 (Deathmatch)
- Unreal Tournament
- Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

I'm probably terrible now that I've been playing WOW and other various non-FPS games. :)

With Fanime '07 as close as it is to us, I think it's safe to lock this thread. =)

My comments:

SuperKawaiiNeko - Your final post was not needed and in no way added anything to this thread. Please don't post that again.

PassingTheBuck - You know the mods and admin's emails and contact information. I think that's faster than posting a reply here. :P

Zain - I don't want to give people the chance to jump onto this thread and flame one another.

Just a friendly reminder...

"God of Fanime" and "King of Fanime" are two titles (among many) that are currently taken. Thank you, have a nice day. =)

Updated 12/6 with more information on how to pick up your badges. =)

Fanime still controls that P.O. Box for a while longer, so checks sent there will still be received. :)

Registration / Group Registration ???s
November 13, 2006, 09:07:41 AM
Quote from: "FiliKlepto"I've been meaning to say something about this sooner, but I had to give myself a little bit of time to approach the situation reasonably and objectively. I have always been very happy with the Fanime registration process and staff. I know that you guys work very hard and have to deal with a lot, and I know that there is only so much you can do within certain guidelines... However, I would like to say that I am rather miffed by the following that was recently added to the Registration info page:

QuoteNote: Group rewards are still to be determined. Only groups that initially register with 10 or more will receive these rewards.

And this, which has been added to the account sign-up page:

Quote
Your group does not qualify for group perks. (Adding more members will NOT qualify your group.)

These conditions were not listed on the first post of the Group Registration sticky, which was updated on October 24th, and still isn't (http://forums.fanime.com/viewtopic.php?p=96877&highlight=#96877).  After having read that post,  I registered my group on October 31 prior to revisiting the forum boards. Since I didn't have the information for all our studio members at the time, I only registered six people during that session. Because it had the option to add new members later on (and registration had not been updated to include any of the information quoted above), I thought I could add the other members later on by the deadline.  Well, after registering I browsed the forums and saw the following post:

Quote from: "MPLe"AHHH! Ok, some more corrections.

- Registration accounts can have as many people as possible, but only members in a group account with ten or more members will receive the group bonus.
- Group registration will definately be open this week. If you would like, email me (milton at fanime . com) with the subject "Fanime Group Notification" without the quotes (emails without that exact subject might not be added to the mailing list and as such, won't get the emails) and I'll email you when it goes up. Going against what I said earlier, there will be no extention for the discount. Originally, group registration was scheduled to open next month, but I've been able to work out something and allow a week at the old rate. So please don't kill me angry-mob style at the convention.

I got really upset since our group, which does have more than ten people, missed out on the group bonus because of a technicality. The part that bothers me is that none of the requirements for group perks were listed on the registration page itself, so I don't understand how we can be retroactively held accountable for some corrections you made after the fact.  We purchased registration under certain terms, but now we have to deal with terms that weren't listed at the time that we were charged.

I would feel a lot better if you could please explain to us why the initial-group-of-ten stipulation is necessary in the first place. Is there a logistical reason that we can't add on people later?

Additionally, I'd like to know if there's anything that can be done to fix this situation on either party's side. I understand that there are no refunds, but would it be possible for me to start a new account and re-register everyone (at the current price, of course) along with the rest of our members and have you credit the existing payment to those accounts instead? You guys have always been really helpful in the past, so I hope that some sort of arrangement can be reached.

I've posted this to the boards because I wasn't sure whether you would see my post or my e-mail first.  I've also sent CC of this e-mail to Tony since he would know when he updated the website to include the group rewards requirements.

Check your email, I've replied to this.

Registration / Group Registration ???s

Quote from: "Tony"October 31st has not come and group registration is up. He hasn't broken his promise. Moreover, Milton offered to personally email anyone who wanted to know as soon as group registration came online.

If anyone, be upset at me for not getting group reg up sooner.
It's true that group reg was put up before the first deadline, but if it wasn't, we would get two weeks extra. Group reg is up now but we only have one week to get everything in. I think it would be nice if the first reg deadline for $40 could be extended for at least a week.

I'm scrambling just to get all my friends in order so larger groups like anime clubs must be much more chaotic.

For reasons beyond my control, I am unable to extend the deadline. So instead of fighting an uphill battle to increase the deadline, I'm now trying to get more and more incentives for people that initially register with 10 or more.

Registration / Group Registration ???s
October 27, 2006, 12:00:53 PM
Quote from: "Duo"No offense but I am absolutely disgusted. it takes a certain amount of time to get check's cashed and put under the right names, etc.  You promised that pre-registration would be 40 dollars. if you could nto follow through with it, then you should NOT have promised it. not only have you inconvenienced many, but you're goign to lose registrations because, frankly, i know my anime club is unwilling to pay anymore, so it falls on me, because -i- promised -them- we would make it on time not to go up.

going back on promises...BAD FORM

If an envelope is post-marked for October 31st or earlier, the payment will be accepted provided that it's the correct amount.

I'm sorry about the stress that I have caused all of you. Fanime staff had a BBQ that just passed and please be aware that group registration will be available within a month. I will stand by what I said above, so don't be worried. =)

Quote from: "Absolute0"Maybe it's just me, but I felt that no one really cared if you had a badge or not..

It looks that way, but we have caught people who have tried to go into certain events without a badge. :P
