I guess I'm the only that understood what you ment...
You want a simple photo booth, kind of the old black and white wild west/1920's found at state fairs.
That kind of booth does need to have it's proper place.

Sounds like a fun idea, but if you have the clothing for it. Other wise it wouldn't work out too well. I dont think anyone would want to stand there all day as a stand-in bride or groom for thoes lone dudes/gals.

Oh the thing that made me laugh hard was the sudden interest as soon as you posted your pic. LOL

LOL I'm sure there's nothing special about my pic to garner interest.

The stand-in idea is a bit sketchy isn't it? But! I do already have the dress, and it would be more like a few hours and not an entire day. And honestly.....cosplay outfits are so much more awesome then wedding attire!!! I want to marry a Gundam! Or...any hot female characters.....hehehehe

::rolls::Well FanimeCon 2014 is still quite some time away. Maybe next yr we'll all get to see each other, for reals this time! Meow Meow Meow!

Meow I don't think we ever said anything about requesting a panel room as panels tend to be in speaker and audience form. But that does sound awfully cute, if we were to dedicate all the time and money for decorations and what not. We did mention a booth, and booth locations are configured by Con, not by selection. It's kind of tricky as it seems to be something that may fit in better in the Artist Alley than in Dealer's Hall, and perhaps maybe better in the walkway through Con hahaha. Meow maybe the Gaming Hall, bring some romance to that room!

::rolls:: I'm purely motivated by fun and spontaneity, but I know that might not be everyone's style. For reference: I was the head coordinator of a Ren Faire, had about 1000 attendee, and 80% of attendees paid for the marriage booth (some several times, some to numerous people at once lol). It's a quirky idea. Yes, like a kissing booth. Kind of reminds me of lemonade stands from my childhood ^_^

With Fanime, there are more people, which may mean more interested parties, however bc Fanime is bigger, there's also more attractions. A marriage booth can get lost in the background if location is poor T_T

But who can not notice wedding music, bells, white fluffiness, and happiness, even in a dark corner? LOL

Meow for those fellow Forever Alone-ians, you guys can opt for the stand-in bride. And just to be fair I'll rope in a dashing groom also.

Oh man....what are we doing?

Let's do it! lol I already know where we can get rings (wholesale bag), and we can either print the half-page licenses or I'm sure they sell those also. Whee!
#7
Let's do it!!! LOL And if planning goes well, we can submit it to Con as a real booth!

LOL was hoping to see ya lovely faces!!! Maybe....shall we get married next year and this is just a fail test run/engagement....tempting...hehehehe

Well if people want to get married we shall! For a Ren Faire that I coordinated, we had a marriage booth where you could get a license, flower, and rings. It was uber adorable. At one point an entire class got married, adorbs.

You make it sound like he's more of a problem than anything else. Oh wells sucks to be him?

Viennese Ball sounds intersting, never heard of it till you mentioned it. I'll have to check it out next year. That is if nothing else is planed.

Well, it's a Stanford Ball, so typical only Stanford students and staff attend, as well as dance competitors.

But, if anything feel free to check it out if you're into social dance/ballroom.

It's $65 for the general public.

Oh, and I love Rin very, very much. He just has incredibly high standards, which makes flaws jarringly obvious. But in return, everything he's done is perfect, or at least near perfect...like his cooking. I like the competition :) He'll never land a plane as smoothly as I do tho!!! Muahahaha

Getting back to topic, hopefully everyone has joined the Facebook page:

Discussions and announcements will all be happening on that page. Occasionally, I will repost new information in this thread.

Sounds like he's not interested in (dancing with) you anymore :p

The meet up location is fine, I guess if its too cold outside we could just go right inside. Hopfully the weather would be nice and warm.

Yea...that must explain why he's sent me an e-mail everyday that he's been gone, and calls at least 5 days a week on a normal bases. Besties!!

But no, it's just because he's not fond of Fanime. That, and the first (and last) Fanime Ball we went to, he was so horrified at what he saw that we left right away. He's a merciless critic.

We still go to the Viennese Ball every year though with other dance couples. I absolutely love that Ball, and feel so happy that I was invited to organize something so amazing.

Well obviously fanime is for fun, like I said. Which is why I'm taking time away from work to go to it.

And if dedicating my life to helping others and forwarding science defines my life....then I'd like to say hell yeah it does.

Plus, I'm not even at work that often so I spend the rest of my time being crazy with my friends, hosting charity events, and modeling was fun but I'm bored with it now.

Life is too short to just waste your time on nothing. I live my life doing what I want to do.

::) ok...
Why not do what everyone else does when Fanime rolls around.. take a few days off from work.

Because my job is important lol. You can't really just call off medical research, waste millions of dollars, and leave your cancer patients who are already dealing with a ton of problems to also deal with your irresponsibility. Frankly, between roaming Fanime and my research job, I would pick my research job any day. So even if I am still staffing, my work gets priority. It's 24/7. I even canceled my past NYE plan to stay in when my lab needed last minute data analyzed for one of my patients to have surgery the following day. Grown up problems.

And with staffing...you can't really take days off staffing....bc you have to work your hours. I like to have fun, but I also don't make commitments I can't keep. And I certainly wouldn't compromise my professionalism with substances that are just harming my body anyways.

And that is why I am not taking any days off of work.

In related news I just got done with my fitting for my tux. Seems like I gained a half inch on my waist. :( but could be water weight as steemstress kindly put it.

Still not sure if the bow tie is going to work out. Got to find nice shiny shoes. I can't remember the last time I had to buy dress shoes....oh wait, it was 4 years ago. This time I'll keep in mind to look for a shoe that can be easy to dance with...and that has a steel toe. ;) them newbies like to stomp.

Lol nice. My dance partner is traveling Europe right now, but even if he was in Cali he prolly wouldn't go with me haha. Well, we actually haven't competed for god knows how long, but I still consider him my partner :) We could almost be twins because we were born in the same hospital a few hours apart....except I'm short and he's a 6'2 athletic monster @_@

So, I think we should meet infront of the Convention center since it'll be easy to spot

...you could call me what everyone does, echo. Or you could go the fancy, proper way and ask?

Btw you lost me when you said you don't drink, but gain be back when you said you talk to squirrels.  ???

No! OP is OP!

See if I drink, I can't go back to work. I don't like half-ass drinking, so when I do drink I go all out. Which is apparently a lot (must be my German side).

So, if anyone is having a hard time stumbling around, I got chu!

Yes, I'm quite aware of where to obtain manga if need be, mainstream or not as I tend to spend a lot of time in bookstores (or online). It's not a matter of finding it, it's just that I prefer novels over graphic novels. Not quite sure why you posted that, but thank you regardless.

And, as has been mentioned, it's a meet up right before the B&W ball, so it's implied that it'll range from formal to semi-formal according to whatever people are already wearing for the ball.

I'll just give you my guess at the stats: probably not many people will be in a wedding gowns. So far, I'm going to say only one. But I wouldn't be surprised by white dresses and an array of knee length cocktail dresses. I imagine those in military outfit cosplays or butler ones will continue to wear those for the ball, if not then dress pants, dress shirt, dress shoes, and tie/bow-tie. Pushing more semi-formal would be slacks, a button up shirt, maybe a tie, and a pair of nice shoes.

Meet ups are for fun. Don't need to over think anything. We'll still love you even if you show up in shorts and a Hawaiian shirt, although they prolly will not let you into the ball...LOL

I haven't really read manga since high school....I'm more of a classics literature....or just a books with lots of word person.

I have no idea what people will be wearing, so I'l leave other members to answer that one.

As long as said kidnappings are voluntary it should be fine....I think, don't quote me on that.
If I recall the ending of Paradise Kiss was not a happy one, Caroline and George never got together..well they did but..not at the end. Oh yeah I forgot to say "spoiler alert."

Anyways what ever happens it would be a nice way to kill some time till the b&w ball. Well at lest for me anyway.

Ah!!! Ok this is my 3rd time typing this. The forum is refusing to let me post.

Shorter/less happy version of what I previously wrote:

-SPOILER ALERT- In the Paradise Kiss movie, Caroline and George end up together a little ways down from where the original storyline ends. Reunited via Caroline breaking into George's NY apt. The unsatisfied little girl in me from reading the manga and watching the anime loved it. I know the manga/anime's version is more mature and depicts how everyone grows up and moves on, but the girl in me was like Yes!

LOL, I did thought about a byob party but..seems like we'll be having a few minors in our room or something like that, so I'll just have to wait and see till con time.

And I do have a name besides "OP", and yes I don't think its work....since you have fun while doing it, and fyi everyone stares at any hot waitress/bartenders.

There is still a few more weeks till the con so we still have time to plan it out. Just keep checking back or post more suggestions or ideas.

But I like calling you OP (..maybe bc I don't know your name)!! LOL

Is it really fun tho...I just run around constantly. But I'm a people person, so I love meeting new people :) I would say it's perhaps more fun than my job at Stanford, working in the lab and with cancer patients, but I'm a science soul, so I love that too. Unfortunately, not that much talking and the other "young" person who works there is about 20 yrs older than me. And with the data analysis work I just do that at home while munching on cupcakes, yelling happy thoughts at squirrels. And then modeling is a lot of long hours of posing, smiling, and walking down the runway. God, what am I doing with my life? Hahahaha

lalalalalalalalalalalallalalalala

~MASSIVE SECRET REVEAL~ Oh also, I don't drink. I like to stay sober to keep stalkers at bay, mostly because if I was intoxicated I would prolly hurt them...bad. Yeah....everyone has their angry, bloodlust, vicious demons right? ::smiles::

I feel like a lot of people are leaning towards Tanq? Well the upside is it's right there. Drinks are a bit pricey, so just get one drink during the m&g, and then afterwards, if you still want to drink, migrate to a bar (or room) with your new friends in toll.
