Well, every year we plan on getting a two bed room. Then just let people crash. We're planning to get a suite and do that. WE don't sneak around...we just...don't tell em. WE don't hide it though.

Well, I sorta have a place to crash, but I sorta need backup. I dont know... I guess when the time comes closer I'll figure it out, but keep me on the "list" if anything. I don't want to fly all the way from NYC and end up sleeping in a box for the weekend.

We're looking for two people over the age of 21, who don't mind drinking and such, but aren't crazy party people. My ideal con roommate situation involves everybody being able to geek out and have fun, and have a chill place to go to and get some sleep and BATHE! :-)
(And to note on the age thing, it's non-negotiable. Jay and I will be drinking, the reservation will be under my name, I don't want to get in any trouble with any potential underage drinking. At all. End of story.)

And so the craze starts, though it does feel a little early.
About us: We are two 20 year old completely awesome females looking for roommates so that it makes the cost cheaper. We're nice people and we don't steal.
Hotel Information: Right now we are staying at The Marriot, Friday morning to Monday afternoon. We are trying to get the Hilton though. So we might end up there.
What we are looking for: We don't care if you're male or female. No age requirement. Please don't steal. And bathing is a must. Besides that we're pretty laid back. We don't care what your sleeping habits are, come and go as you wish.
Random Information: You will have to either be willing to share a bed or sleep on the floor some nights. We are planning on having 6 to 8 people in the room to make it as cheap as possible. I have had 10+ people in a room for the last two years and didn't have any problems. The only thing that came up missing was a phone charger. Right now I don't really know how many people we will end up with. It might just be a few...we'll see.

It's good to plan things early in advance, just in case if there's any sudden changes popping up along the way. Even though the hotels are not up, it's good to think where to stay and estimate how much it will cost per person. Also, to let others know that they can share room space if they can't book a hotel.
Oh yes. Please don't overcrowd a room with more than 4 people in the room even if the reason is that it helps the cost cheap because it's a fire hazard and can get you kick out.

Yea it worked pretty well though. We all kept different time though so there were never very many people in the room at once. I think the only time I saw everyone was monday morning.

OMG you remember Sam and Kelley right? they want to go to fanime too but what happened was Chan and my group were able to get the stuff together faster so I was able to get a room, but they are left without a room, is it possible if they room with you? There's also another guy who wants to go to fanime as well but he only knows us ^^ wanna make a full house with them?

Hello....I'm new to this. I'm from the Eastcoast and I got some crazy idea to go to Fanime. So I bought my tickets and alls set...except I dont have a room... I'm going all alone to meet some friends, but they live there and can't put me up for the weekend.
Basically, I'm looking for someone with a room who will give me a place to sleep. I have no problem paying my part.
My friend hasn't booked her room yet because as of now she only has about two people (including her) in the room, so if you're planning to stay for four nights (beginning Thursday 21 May 2009- Monday 25 May 2009) then the price would be around $193 for each person (total of 4 people). 15+ are welcome, we currently have two spaces open.

Yes that's true. But that was our original plan. As it turns out, we just do not have enough for all four nights for two rooms. From what me and the VP calculated, we need $1300+ the deposit. And each member going would have to pay up roughly $160 if I remember correctly. We just do not want to have our members to burn holes in their pockets just to get a hotel room. Not to mention that they need spending money on goods and food. -_-;
Getting the members to room with others is our cheapest option at the moment....

So, we have about
8 5 (since we excluded 2 other members who also need room and found it themselves) and we have about
2 girls, 6 5 guys (numbers might go up or down), mainly 16-17s. We are planning to stay for all 4 nights (Thursday 21st-Monday 25th). We won't mind paying, but hopefully not over $100. All we ask for is:
- if possible, we all stay in the same hotel and not split(except if we are split between Hilton and Marriott because it's on con site) If not then we will have to take whatever is available for us
- we know who we are staying with. Therefore we would like to meet before the con.
- No smoking/alcohol drinking/drugs use/crime record/etc.

I mean, I'm guessing you guys have classes that Friday, because most of the high schools are in session still, and I"m thinking the school might notice a pattern if 10 of the students that were missing were in the anime club and, oh look, there's a convention. Seriously, you really don't need to stay over Thursday night. the Dealers room doesn't even open til mid afternoon, I think the opening ceremonies are around 1 or 2 PM...it's just not worth it and you would save a LOT. Yeah it's fun/convenient to be there thursday night, but if you've got money troubles and trying to coordinate it with 10 people...beggars can't be choosers. That's mainly what I'm saying.
That will bring your hotel cost down to ~1000 dollars. Which is $100 per member. You're still going to have like 5 people in each room though the maximum occupancy is 4, but at least you're trying for 2 rooms instead of cramming 10 people in one room (as people have done in the past).
If you could find a parent to hold the room on their card, you'd be set...because the only other major obstacle I see is that you guys are all under 18 and therefore couldn't get a hotel room if you wanted to. Unless someone will be 18 by the convention...

Well, we are getting this approved by the school as a "field trip" on Friday, so they wouldn't really notice much, other then those kids went to a "field trip" on Friday.

Okay, um. I have a room in the Marriot. I think it's only a one king sized bed, because all the doubles were taken, but I'm a bit confused if that's really the case or not. I myself will be sleeping on a rollaway bed, and my roomie will be taking the king bed probably.
We're looking for like one or two more people to room with us and split the bill. With one more person, each person will have to pay about $96. With two more people, each of us will pay $72.50

Seriously, you really don't need to stay over Thursday night. the Dealers room doesn't even open til mid afternoon, I think the opening ceremonies are around 1 or 2 PM...it's just not worth it and you would save a LOT. Yeah it's fun/convenient to be there thursday night, but if you've got money troubles and trying to coordinate it with 10 people...beggars can't be choosers. That's mainly what I'm saying.
That will bring your hotel cost down to ~1000 dollars. Which is $100 per member. You're still going to have like 5 people in each room though the maximum occupancy is 4, but at least you're trying for 2 rooms instead of cramming 10 people in one room (as people have done in the past).

Well, we are getting this approved by the school as a "field trip" on Friday, so they wouldn't really notice much, other then those kids went to a "field trip" on Friday.

I now that the economy is rough and that you are all trying to save money, but you have to put things in perspective in terms of what a school club can do and can't do on a field trip. Just because you aren't going to be on school grounds, doesn't mean that the school rules fly out the window.
So knowing that...we shall discuss this tomorrow at the anime club meeting. You have been forewarned....
,This has been mentioned many times before, but I just wanted to put it out there in this thread as well. First of all, whatever you decide to do when setting up roommates, etc. is obviously up to you, and I'm not telling you to change your plans, simply consider this before you continue.
The rooms are supposed to have a MAXIMUM occupancy of 4 people. 6 people if you have a suite. Choosing to fill these rooms with upwards of 8-10 people is not only a fire hazard, but a poor reflection on Fanime attendees as a whole. Sure some people may think it's "fun" or "exciting" returning to a room where there are bodies everywhere, including the closets, and piles of swag left and right, but the reality is that housekeeping will notice if they are having to clean up for 8 people rather than 4. If hotel staff realizes that you are housing more than the maximum occupancy allowed, you will be asked to leave the hotel because you have put them in danger of being cited and fined by the fire department should there be some sort of emergency.
Another reason not to have so many people is the noise level. Contrary to popular belief, there are non-fanime goers in the hotels during Memorial Day weekend. Downtown San Jose has a number of tourist attractions and some people use the 3 day weekend to make a trip to San Jose to see the Tech museum or take their kids to the Discovery museum or whatever. As it is, many of the travelers who aren't part of fanime have left fairly strong reviews on places like Tripadvisor complaining of the noise problems they experienced during the Fanime weekend. Now imagine the average noise level of a room full of high-school to college aged anime fans and multiply it by 2. Hopefully you're beginning to understand how this could be an issue. One call to the front desk and all 8-10 of you are now out of a room.
Finally, and this might be a bit of a stretch, but don't you think it's a bit disrespectful to cram people into a room for the sake of "cheaper rooms" when CMR, Craige and other Fanime staff members have worked so hard to provide Fanime with a REALLY good deal for Memorial day weekend? Honestly, splitting a room 4 ways averages to about 100 dollars for 3 nights, it's not that bad at all.
So there you go, that's about all I have to say but I hope that people considering cramming their rooms with more people will think twice.
NOTE: One final thing, I understand that rooms are selling out faster than ever and people really want to be close to the action, but if you get kicked out of the room for having too many people you'll be in the same situation anyways.

Well, technically even in high school if the students are alone they can do whatever they want. The problem is if they attempt to use the fact that they belong to "X High School Anime Club" to gain access to benefits without following the rules of the school that the club gets shut down and the counselor in deep doo doo. So it's very different for say, 2 high school seniors to get a hotel room for Fanime as opposed to 4 high schoolers who all use the fact that they belong to such and such anime club in order to receive a discount etc. As long as the students are acting independently the school couldn't possibly attempt to reign them in on an individual basis.

My friends and I are looking for roomates for Fanime. We're staying at the San Jose Hilton, May 22nd-25th. We'll be driving from Los Angeles the 22nd so we'll be there around 4pm or eariler. We don't have many rules but the ones we have are important:

Ok well got myself a hotel room for the fairmont. from thursday-monday.
The reason we opted for thursday was lets face it, registering for the con on Friday, THEN going to the hotlel room to check in(they dont let you check in until like after 1 PM sometimes) it's just a lot easier to check in the day before and then rest for the day.
So far I have myself and two other friends, with possibly a 3rd friend joining us.
The room is at the fairmont, its a double and basically what I'm looking for is simple.
NO drama.
NO smoking
NO drinking

I have a room in the Fairmont and it looks like I have room for at least a few people, it'll probably be like $50 for the weekend (Fri-Mon). My room is co-ed so male or female is fine (there are already both genders, so no one's "alone"). My only rules are that you shower (or you will be made to by force, seriously) and have an awesome time. There is obviously no smoking in the room, but what you do outside is your business if you're antisocial (don't be) or everyone's if you care to make friends (you should). If you happen to smoke remember, fight the power, and enjoy those new taxes on the first!

Hey, we're still looking for one more person for our room. $72.50 for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night altogether. Pretty sick deal right? And please stay for that entire weekend. Even if you're not staying the entire weekend, we'd still require the $72.50.
It's in the Marriott. We'd prefer one more girl, since so far it's two guys and one girl and we don't want the one girl to be uncomfortable or anything, but either way is fine. I'm 20, and the other two roomies are 18. We'd prefer you to be 18+ as well.

The beds will be one king size, and one rollaway. I'll be taking a sleeping bag myself. The girl roomie will get the king size, and I dunno about the male roomie, so there's possibly an open rollaway bed. If you're female, you'll definitely get the rollaway bed, and the male roomie can sleep on the floor because we're just chivalrous like that. ;D
Oh and if you can't get to bed at a decent time, that's fine, just be quiet and don't wake the people that are getting much needed rest. Meaning no TV when people are sleeping. I'm working 6 hour+ shifts, sometimes late into the night as a rover, so I'll need as much rest as I can get.

So here my situation. I have a hotel (which is about 4 miles from the convention center) and will be stranded at the Con without a car. I am your average con-addict (stays up until 4-5 in the morning) and am deathly afraid that the ride to my room is gonna want to crash early seeing as this is her first year. I would rather die from lack of sleep than turn in early and miss the ongoings of the fanime nightlife. (aka pervy video rooms and amazing dances.)
So... what I'm looking for is not a room to crash all my stuff in or even really live in, just maybe a backup room I can walk to and be like.. "omg let me sleep... please?" And I will promptly crash on the floor (no blankets or pillows needed) to catch a few shut eyes before waking up a few hours later and leaving to start my crazy day over again. :D
This shouldn't actually happen but is a just in case scenario. I swear to god I shower every day of the con, am over 18 (I'll be 20 by fanime), and am a trustworthy person. I'm doing this now since I want to know the people I may crash with (or at least the owner of the room) and I know people want to make sure I'm not a psyco who will steal their stuff or destroy the room. On another note; I hate drama. You will get none from me and I would rather sleep in the streets then get dragged into it. So there will be none from me.
Like I said, since I already have a room this is just a back up scenario for a room to crash in. I have very little money for something like this but I am willing to pay if you absolutely want someone to pay for a piece of floor space.

Hi everyone! My name's kate and I'm in need of a hotel room for Fanime. I'm 18, and I get along with just about everyone. I'm hoping to find a room for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. I don't mind sleeping on the floor, and I don't care much about the ages or genders of whoever I'd be sharing a room with. I don't plan to be in the room at all aside from changing costumes or sleeping.
My biggest issue is money. I can pitch in 40-50 dollars or so. I know that's not much, but I'd be willing to bring food for everyone. I also know how to style wigs and fix/finish costumes/props really well, so I'd be happy to help with something like that too. I'd prefer to room with cosplayers, but since it's close to con time, I'm really just needing a room in general.
So, with that said, is there anyone out there who'd be willing to help me out? Oh, it would also have to be a hotel within a block or two from the convention since I need to go back and forth to cange in and out of costumes like twice a day.

I made hotel reservations a while back when it was cheaper and got a good deal. The thing is, I just moved out of state and I can't afford to come back to attend fanime so I'm selling my reservations so that I can pay for my expenses to live.
The room is for Friday May 22nd - Monday May 25. Checkout is on Monday so it's only 3 nights. The room comes with lots of awesome amenities including access to the concierge lounge which serves complimentary food... (however it's only open M-F). The best part though is that it's right where fanime is, so you dont even have to exit the building to go to fanime. Thats why I got it, so that I can walk around in my PJ's and go room to room watching anime all night. Sucks that I can't be there. :(

Actually, the reservation is easily transferable. It's very easy to change the name on the reservation. :)
Also, if i were to just cancel my reservation, the room would go up to $239 per night instead of the $169 per night. Thats a $70 per night difference. So at 3 nights, you would be paying $210 extra!
I'm really not trying to rip anyone off. You would actually be saving money if you just bought the reservation from me AND helping me out too. With the economy being so terrible, I'm really struggling financially. I figure the money that could be going to the hotel, could go to us instead. Please don't be critical of me, I'm just going through a hard time.

As far as payment is concerned....I regret to say that I don't have very much money. I can't afford to pay. However, I'm not demanding a spot on a bed; I've been doing this for more than ten years now...a blanket, a pillow, and a soft patch of floor is plenty for me. Additionally, I am a certified massage therapist with over 600 hours of training, plus work experience. There are non-monetary benefits to be had. My specialty is foot rubs...
Finally, this part isn't required but it would help quite a bit. I live in Sacramento, and I have a ride to the convention but it's not the best situation and I have no ride home. Any assistance with travel would also be appreciated. Anyone who gives me shelter AND transportation to and from the convention and has enough room in their vehicle for my massage table will get a special treat~

Im 18, male, dont do any drugs, and I dont drink. I dont really mind whom I room with, as long as its at the mariotte or at the hilton, so I dont have to get out of the convention center. Im mainly looking just for a place to store my stuff, and place to take a shower. Im very clean and orderly. In addition, I wont be in the room that often, and if I am, its usually to take a short nap, or just to grab some stuff before going back down. I wont be in the room that much considering I usually stay up most of the convention and just wander around most of the time.

Hey there, with some members of my group flaking, we are looking for possibly one or two more roomies for the entire weekend, Friday to Monday. We currently have 5 people, 4 guys and one girl. All 20+.
Looking for 2 girls, preferably 18+ but needs to be at least 16+. Okay with having a great time. We're all chill people and we are looking for a drama free con stay. There is currently one bed space and floor spots open. You can go in and out as you please, can contact me if you do not currently have a key and need in. Noise is not a big deal, just not when most of the room is sleeping. MUST BATHE!
Price is $50 for a floor spot and $100 for the bed spot, to be paid in full on the first day of the con. I will arrange for us to meet on Friday. Food and drinks will be available and you can buy in for the entire weekend for $25. You'll definitely have fun staying in our room, we're really awesome people!

Hey, I am looking for people who have already set up a room and are looking for any roomates. Money would be no problem in terms of room payments. But there's one thing I need to say: I won't be down in San Jose until Saturday. Would that be cool with any of you?
I am looking for up to 2 roommates (up to 4 if slightly cramped is not a problem). I am registered at the Marriott. I check in on Friday the 22nd and check out on Monday the 25th. Currently, there are 3 age 21+ males in the room. 18+ roommates are most preferred (but I can accept others if you speak to me about it). Any gender is acceptable. We are respectful and clean (we do shower at least once a day). Payment will only be billed for nights spent, and can be paid right before leaving. Hey everyone, I need some fast help! I posted here earlier, and some of you replied, but I ended up finding a room and saying no thank you. Now that room isn't possible since I won't be able to have a keycard for it, and I NEED a keycard. So I'm once again trying to find a last minute hotel. Here's a little about me:
-18 year old female
-Cosplayer
-Doesn't smoke/drink
-Outgoing but not all party crazy or anything. And No drama from me ever. Drama is evil.
I REALLY need to find a room, but I'm kinda being specific on what I need becaus eI'm hosting panels and coming form 2 hours away and changing cosplays and stuff.

Hotel Nights: Crowne-Plaza. Friday, Sat, and Sun. Leaving on Monday.
Crowd: 2 women for Fri. and 4 for Sat. and Sun. We have 2 beds, so there will be room on a bed on friday, but possibly not on Sat and Sun, although we will rotate the beds if there isn't.
Cost: Variable. The current cost is $33 for Fri, $20 for Sat, and $20 for Sun if we get 1 more person. If you can't afford this price, we may be able to negotiate, since this is a fairly late posting.
