Big Event Showcase / Re: An Cafe concert tickets
May 25, 2008, 07:00:11 PM
So my name is Jordan. =] Anyone who was standing in line with us Sunday morning/ Saturday evening and all that in between should remember me. I'm that crazy boy who was running around organizing everything.

I would definitely like to say thank you to everyone for staying calm and respecting staff.  I know how hard it was, trust me, I know. All that really matters is we got our awesome Autograph tickets and we are happy. I'm very greatful to staff and they totally deserve like a billion internets for putting up with me and with all that insued and such and such.

I would also like to point out that I soooo totally need to be on S.O.S. next year, and that's what S.O.S. members told me. =]
So brasically I hope to be staffing next year! <33!

Nyappy!<3

So I hate to bXtch and complain but this line system is getting really fXck3d up. The fact that people who were after the 20 this morning got to put their name on a list is total bs, it stops the whole system from being fair. There are only 100 tickets. And every single one should be fairly given out. Take this into account next time a mess like this happens.

I mean honestly this is becoming unreasonably disorganized. And totally unfair against the people who have been standing in line all day, missing panels and what not. Another issue is the fact of line cutting. I mean I understand the fact of spot saving and all, but it's got to have it's limits. Holding spots for 10 people at the front of the line is fXck3d up.

Quote from: "Pimpstress Rei"This makes me sad. We work really hard to throw a good show and by horrible coincidence, another concert is happening the exact same weekend as us. I can't blame people for wanting to go see bands that they love, but when you work so hard to put on a good show, and have your fans desert you...it sucks.

I hope that a good amount of people stay for MusicFest because the bands that we booked deserve the attention and praise for playing. They shouldn't get the shaft just because other bands are playing the same time they are.
I'm really interested in Crack6. I had the chance of seeing Karma at J-Rock Connection in November, but I would still like to support them.

There's probably a good chance that I will swing by on Sunday. It is a bad stroke of luck, since I really really was looking forward to MusicFest this year, but this new event just takes the cake. D:

I really wish J-Rock Revolution wasn't being held that weekend because I really do feel sorry for the bands at MusicFest. They came all the way out here to perform only to be overshadowed by bigger bands showing up.

However I think, probably many people will stay and attend MusicFest, since Fanime is not really made up of a large majority of J-Rock Fans. Most of the people are there for the anime, manga, Artist's Alley and such, and they will be able to stay for MusicFest (if they can pry themselves away from the Video rooms xD). Only the few die-hard J-rock fans will be absent most likely.

To tell you the truth alot more than that are gonna be absent. Because this concert is a MAJOR concert and it kinda over powers Fanime. Because the fan-base for the other bands such as; alice nine., Kagrra, Miyavi, DuelJewel, Vidoll, MUCC, girugamesh, Merry, Déspairs Ray. Above the bands that are playing.. THE price. $60 for all those bands for over the span of 2 nights... It's like.. wow. So.. I really do hope that people don't abandon Fanime and MusicFest. I already know of atleast 5-8 people who are... So... As sad as it is.. We can't do anything about it...

Further more; I don't believe that it's 100% real.. To actually pay for those artists to get over here... that would be alot.. and with ticket prices that cheap.. :sigh: I dunno..
I'm pretty sure it's real. Yoshiki is the one organizing it after all. And $60 isn't that cheap. Sure, it's a good price, but it's not excessively cheap. They're probably expecting a lot of people, and they're right to.

But most people don't go to Fanime for the concert. I mean like last year. I was totally pumped about MusicFest, and when I got there, THERE WAS NO ONE THERE. Like, all the fans just decided to ignore it. And then I went to check out Der Cosplay or whatever that thing is where people cosplay and run around on the stage, and the place is FREAKING PACKED. I just could NOT comprehend how that many people could attend that event and totally ignore MusicFest. So while I'm not sure how many people are going to attend MusicFest, I would say all in all, the attendance of the con isn't going to be very affected by this concert. 75% of the fans that go to Fanime probably don't even know what J-Rock is. They're only interested in anime, and running around in costume. A good number of the con members also live around the con, and that's why they can attend. Their parents might not let them attend something that's hours away, so they will probably just settle for Fanime.

You'll probably be missing the J-Rock fans, those who are mildly interested in J-Rock who live near LA, and any new attendees that were going to attend this year because of MusicFest. The anime fanbase will be safe, and that's the majority of the people who attend the con. Just promote MusicFest even more this year to those who are already attending the con, and get them to check out the event.
I love MusicFest. That's where I first found ZZ. Also I heard Karma Shenjing will be attending this year, one of my favorite bands! I just really wish that these two things hadn't been planned for the same weekend... .____.;

Hotel and Facilities / Did you reserve your room yet?

Do you actually have to pay for the whole cost of the hotel room? If I'm staying at the Marriot. << I've never really done this before. Or do you just reserve it with your credit card and pay when you leave. <<?

Panels and Workshops / Otaku Manners panel?
December 28, 2006, 11:31:53 AM
I agree with this 100%

There are those time when your just sitting there and somehow you get dragged into or hurt by or surrounded by one of those fights where the cosplayers are fully going at it.. It's not funny when people get hurt.. make sure to have your fights in a closed are and maybe sometimes.. DON'T HAVE THEM? << :nods:

There is also the problem with.... the children... I mean it's cool and all that parents let their little kids or whatever go to con, ne? But seriously.. Fanime can't really be considered PG. What me and my friends end up doing it going at everything PG-13. We shouldn't have to go any lower than that.. How is this problem related to the otaku.. Well, they are the ones who would be considered the worst influence around the children. :nods:

What should be done? << (About the second problem, because there are already some nice solutions about the first problem.)

This band is hella amazing. If someone a staff member would seriously like them to come, I think they should get in contact. I saw this band at J-rock Connection '06. They were pretty good on stage! <<
