I think you need a weekend badge and a seller's license.  I'm pretty sure that's it, but this'll be my first year so don't quote me on that  XD

To sell at any con in California, you need to buy the full weekend pass and have a CA sellers permit that you should get at least two weeks in advance. As for tables, it is highly unlikely that the tables are sold out since there has been no post of any form of table sign ups. The only tables that are taken are the ones that were pre-registered at last year's convention. And judging from last year's alley, if it's going to be in the same place, there were A LOT of tables that were empty, people signed up and never showed up, a lot of people got moved around, etc. So, my best advice is to not jump the gun and wait until there is an official announcement with regards to the AA tables since, at the moment, only regular pre-reg is even up and running.

I hope that alleviates some of panic about the tables, I know I panicked last year. As long as you keep checking the forums/website for updates and you are ready to register when the alloted times are open, you should be fine.

The people who didn't show up really sucked last year.  A friend and I were left with an empty table on either side and almost no traffic (even though we were only about 5 tables away from the Snafu booth).
The biggest problem last year though was that we had asked to be placed with some of our other friends...and when we got there we weren't even on the table assignment list.  We had to come back 2 hours later to get assigned a table in the far corner. =\

Is there any way to prevent that from happening again?  We really don't want to be separated from our friends again; its not fun at all.  :-\

Hey, artists!  For those of you who have hangers that are clamped to your tables, how did you make them and where did you get the supplies?  I need to get down and dirty and probably make one for FANime, 'cause I think it would be very helpful and it would be quite the space saver.

If you could give me specific brands (for the clamps or whatever), it would be much appreciated.

Home depot or any hardware store should have most if not all of the supplies you'll need.  I don't use them but I know people who do.  You should be able to find a design online.

I second how to handle the sales tax that Aya Brea X mentioned.

I normally just round to the nearest quarter, or flat dollar in some cases. As long as you keep a record of your sales, it will be easy to figure it all out. As a money management thing, at the end of each day, I figure out how much the sales tax I owe was that day and completely set that money aside. :x It's very helpful for when your taxes ARE due, that you set the money aside and didn't accidentally spend it on you.. well.. you know . . pocky... or in my case Tomato Pretz... *cough*

Opening Time on Friday?
So.. the Artist Alley will really be opening at 1pm on Friday? I mean.. the website says 12pm on Friday, but if registration for your table opens then.. there will be a huge conflict.
Or are people who got a table OK, go in earlier to set-up and that is just for people on the waitlist?
I don't know about anyone else, but it would be impossible for me to set-up in less than a minute. :x

Also.. someone should probably inform the Web Admin, that they lost their stylesheet on the Fanime AA page with the last announcement...

eeps it did mess with the style
so noted and sent to web for help >.<
thanks

and where dose it say we open to teh public at 12?
i can amend thins still but send me a link at [email protected]
thanks a bunch

It's not that confusing, but if you'd like I can try to put together an Excel workbook that will calculate for you.

When do we find out who's sitting where?
Are you going to post the seating chart so we know in advance? (Since I never got it I want to know how far away I'm going to be from my friends =( )

please e-mail us at
fanimeartistsalley2008 (at) gmail (dot) com

seating is closed and we will not be posting where your sitting
we will be telling you when you come to register
thanks

I know seatings closed, found that out the other day when I emailed you to find out when I'd get the seating chart.  =\
I was never sent it but I need to know mine and my friend's numbers (I bought our tables together) so we an find out how far or close we are to our companions.  It's not our fault that you guys forgot to put us on the sent list when you sent out the email.

Why is it that the same e-mail cannot be used for registration.  I'm the one who does all the registering for our group and it bothers me a bit that I can't have all of the info sent to one e-mail. =\

Is there any way to have the data sent to them sent to me as well in case the e-mail gets lost?

They had an unofficial one at AX...but will Fanime be having an Official one?  *hopes that they will*
Even if they don't though, if I get a AA table, hopefully people will come by and battle with me  :D

at the risk of sounding pessimistic, i think wiimote security may be a major issue when it comes to that

If someone brings Pokemon Battle revolution then the person who owns the wii can set up the system and the tourney players will just use they're DS wireless.  That would solve it one way.

You could also set up a security system for the wii-motes, block off the area surrounding the players etc.

Even though everyone is pretty much over Pokemon (myself included) I'm still going to bring it. :P
I'll also bring EBA and Ouendan. I don't have Ouendan 2 yet, I have too much school work to do before getting addicted to those games all over again.

And don't forget about PictoChat, you guys!

Not true!  the new generation is bringing back the old generation of players!  I was at AX and although the con didn't sponsor a tournament some people pulled together an unofficial tourney.  It was fun to see how many people came (at least 50+). ^^
