Title: JTAF.
Post by: Amelia Seyruun on November 03, 2007, 04:30:23 PM
It's short notice, but is anyone going to JTAF which is this coming weekend, 11/10 - 11/11?

And could I possibly hitch a ride with someone?

If I don't have enough monies for it by then, I might skip out.

Hey Jessica, I might stop by for a day if I don't have training. If I do go, I can probably give you a ride for that day.

It is?  I dunno if I wanna go this time.  I don't watch anything else but Rozen Maiden

If you're going to JTAF, could you give me a ride there and back?

I won't be able to go cause after Yaoi con I'm broke, plus I heard it's going to the last JTAF. I would like to check it out for the last time but I won't be able to.

it might not have the same feel in previous years...

ironic its NO longer in Japan-town which is a bit odd...

Hey InIn, were you still planning to goto this?

I'm willing to car pool, gas is SO expensive these days...

again another excuse for Ed and Roy, to hang out in Sf.

I wonder how the vendors and anime related stuff will be set up.

My vote is for Saturday because there's a Sunday Fanime Staff meeting.

Otaku, DLZ, Kegan, Lok? or anyone else interested? the more the merrier right?

As much as I like No-name as well, im always out for an adventure in the city as opposed to sitting on my bottom playing Final Fantasy Tactics ALL THE TIME....

I have a knife in my pocket!... I'm not kidding!!! im serious!!!~

I'm entertaining the idea of stopping by... seeing that Kazuko-chan might comes may sway me~  :-* I'm a little bitter it's not at JapanTown anymore, I usually eat noodles and take purikura all day, so I'm not sure what I'd do with myself this year.

once again, i totally forgot that JTAF is this weekend(just like i forgot about yaoi-con, but we saw how that remedied itself).

sadly, I've been already roped into helping out my sis; she wants to take a trip to banana republic(the store, its not actually a republic so don't look it up), and i gets teh discounts there, too.

with the holidays coming up I wouldnt be surprised double, or even triple or quadrupling booking myself.

Lots of Holiday / Bday / general gathering positions indeed.

I need my "fix"

I could really use a Crepe right now. I hate missing lunch. >.<

Due to my money situation from Yaoi-con.  I really don't know if I can attend JTAF.  I wouild love to go but even for one day  on a Sunday but the price is a killer for me.  If there's a room party there, I don't mind joining in since I can travel around SF.  But I'm having doubt about going in for one day....

thats to bad, id' prefer to car pool, but looks like I'll have to sit this one out...

that plus it might rain.

driving + rain + me getting lost would be a bad combo.

I've had enough close calls with accidents as it is.

Drive safe out there!

Be well and who ever does go. Please take pics! pretty please thankies.  :D

no.....i'm pretty sure she said it correctly: japantown is still japantown, but the location of JTAF this year is over at fort mason; don't know why they picked fort mason to have jtaf, but whatever; its not like i can go(i have other obligations already).

That kinda defeats the whole purpose of calling it Japan Town Anime Fair, if its not at Japantown/Japan Center.

Now if it was at San Jose Japantown, that'll be an entirely different story.
Title: Re: JTAF.

which is why it's not being referred to as Japantown Anime Faire anymore, but instead is now being simply called "JTAF"

......I might not go to JTAF after all, folks.

I shouldn't be spending the extra money, of which I seriously need to save up for the upcoming Disneyland trip, and I haven't been feeling in the mood to go to another small con.

Instead, I might join the No-Name thing.

I haven't been to Fort Mason in a long time, and even though there's not much out there in-terms of restaurants and shops (which are mainly on Lombard Street) at least this weekend will have some pictures to show for it, and I'm sure there will be some good outdoor places for photos.  :)  Just hoping the weather's good..

After the fun I had at YaoiCon, and preparing for my last East Coast con of the year (Anime USA) the weekend after, I'll just take JTAF as a relaxing weekend to get away from the craziness at work.   :P

for the most part, it kinda fizzled out, but just another event/reason for ppl to hang out

personally my fav would be the cherry blossom festival which is usually in the spring... and i think that one does stay in actual japan town in SF.

last years JTAF was a bit of a heart breaker for me...

not for any particular reason or anything....  :P *cough cough*

I really had my heart set on that Mandarin Orange Crepe.

Maybe next time.  :D

only downside to 3 was that it was raining that weekend, which totally sucked.

It had a somewhat okay run, but trying to keep it going after my experience from last year would not be the best choice.

It had a somewhat okay run, but trying to keep it going after my experience from last year would not be the best choice.

so long JTAF; you were good in the beginning, but now you suck.

*sends the con off on a burning boat out to sea*

*snickers, puts a nuke onto it and remotely denotates when the boat is out to sea. Sees mushroom cloud and a big ball of fire*

Mission Accomplished  ;D

That would be somthing  ;D

My review to JTAF5.

Its the smallest convention I ever been to so far.  I even though I wanted to save my brain age cosplay for the bigger con like Wondercon and Fanime, I had to be nice to support the con for Ray since its the last JTAF plus I just wanted to hang out wit friends.  It seems that the masquerade was held at inside of the dealers room.  Me and Jonas decided to join in the masquerade last minute and had to come up wit a last minute skit.  We did pretty good performance even though we didn't win any prizes (cosplay is based on how hard you make the costume not how I look, I don't expect it really).  After the masquerade I hung out for a little bit then we left.

JTAF 1 and 2 were the better years.

After 3, it just became a train wreck.

Oh man! Those are the nostagal times.  JTAF1 was my very first anime con where I met a lot of u guys thanx to my friend Tom plus first time watching Dieter host masquerade who later became my Speech Teacher at my local Community College in Salinas.  JTAF 2 was my very first time cosplaying and entered awesome DDR tourney against people from LA.

Actually I think J-TAF 5 was more fun for me in many ways ONCE I ACTUALLY GOT THERE. Actually getting there with public transportation was a nightmare. Although I made some new friends w/ phone #s, found an awesome new band, AND I also got to see a band I already liked in concert! There were many fun and crazy things we did there. Although I was dissapointed in the Video Games, since there weren't as many as before. Although I did kick a lot of ass in Naruto 3 >=)
