Just use BART, then walk or ride the bus to Geary... I used to drive there there too but it's not really worth the effort. Besides, walking will make you fit ;D!

The 1st weekend of the CBF is pretty much busy, I should say, but the main event happens on the 18th which is the grand parade, which they do a parade route with floats and people walking in it. I go to both weekends just to go hang out in jtown, socialize and buy stuff lol. It's definitely worth the trip.

Kimonos are pretty popular any day of the festival. Cosplaying is usually only on parade day. You never have to dress up though, it's just if you want to. The website does say that the parade is on Sunday the 19th, is that not correct?

Well, technically, in previous years no one really cosplays on any day other than sunday. However I've heard form a large number of people this year that say they'll be cosplaying on the 18th as well.

The parade is on the 19th, so people cosplay for that date, for the costume contest and to walk the parade route. I've seen people cosplay on saturday too, but it's like 1-5 people at the most. Everybody does it the next day.

Maybe any one who's up in the concord, Pleasant Hill, Walnut creek and the area we can arrange a car pool going or go as a group via bart. That way fanime people can have meet up and we can all go do something anime related
That sounds like a good idea. Sadly, if I were to go I would have to go Saturday miss the best day (Sunday) because I will be attending a staff meeting that day.

i have never been in the parade before. this is my first time. i know where we're supposed to meet up/end and stuff but...
if you have like bags/purses/stuff, where do we put it before we march? im pretty sure we're not supposed to carry extra stuff while we're on display.
maybe the best thing is to have a another friend whose watching start and end with you on the sidewalk so they can carry your stuff?

In past years, the cosplayers have just carried their stuff. If you don't want to carry your stuff, then getting someone not in the parade to carry it is a great idea, I did that last year. But I don't believe there's a rule against it. At least, there never has been in the past.

Usually you'd just carry your stuff, best idea is to have a bag/purse that matched your costume. If you've got friends not in the parade that could carry your stuff that sounds easiest.
I can't believe my cosplay won't come until the 20TH!!!! I have to wear the Sakura cosplay for Fanime tomorrow T^T and my Tomoyo will have to switch from Tomoyo to Sailor Mars -_______-

It was good to see familiar faces today at CBFP, and even though the heat was pretty unbearable, everyone (for the most) had a good time, and I got a lot of pictures. I've started to post them here:

I saw him when I was in the parade, he was sitting in a platform section toward the end of the parade. I totally waved at him and he waved back, I was so happy despite of the heat.
i was there on sunday i will post two videos of it at youtube once i get home man my group of friends we just messed around and we were sitting in the elevator for quite sometime o.o we scared alot of people plus i have a video to prove it =D will post link later
The heat was crazy, but man, it was quite pack on Sunday. =) I was Lacus on that day too. Sadly, I didn't have a camera to take pictures though.

It was TOTALLY packed there! I went there with a friend, but it was still warm even in the shade! After it was over I got to hang out with Oni and some of his friends at Japan Town which was cool, along with getting to see my Sailor Moon friend who I saw being the MC there. It's always good to see her ^^
