Quote from: "Long"Great... >_> I'm now completely addicted to Shiina Ringo.

I'm placing "Honnou" on the list, if there's a better track that might fit with the Boogie theme, please reccomend it to me.
\o/  Hahaha.  Everyone bows down to the sexy way Sheena rolls her Rs.

I'll go through my Sheena music (I've got all her CDs) and see if I can suggest anything else.  :)

I'd like to see Akemi's Prince Charming & Breakfast Club series translated... but they've already gone and made my entire freaking year by putting out (err, well, it'll be out super soon, anyways, I think...) Earthian.

Yes.  Oh lord yes.  Earthian in English, with all of that lovely Yun Kouga gorgeousness that is so much prettier than what you get in the anime.

Mmmm.

SO.  MUCH.  LOVE.

X3

I'd also like to see more Higuri You!  Yeah!!!  Gorgeous Carat and Seimaden are being released, but man... I really want to see the one she did with Sakura Kai, uhh... Tenshi no Bara, I believe it's called, translated.  Ludwig and Lost Angel would be nice, too.  >.>

As far as music requests go...  how about some Sheena Ringo?  Or maybe even Swing Girls music...? (Hahaha, the Swing Girls cast singing LOVE (NKK) is so awesome!)

Tolby, from one of the Unico movies.

Oh man, that's such a nostalgic image. X3  I'm such a Unico freak, though... My sister laughed at me when I bought a Unico plushie last Fanime. >.>;;

General Anime Chat / paradise kiss

Oh man, I'm so happy with how the ParaKiss animation turned out..!

It's gorgeous, and it really keeps the same elegant, yet quirky feel of Yazawa's art style (Oh god, the scene changes and the ending animation... SO CUTE!).  I love how they presented all of the characters, except, of course, Isabella (but no animated version could possibly do Isabella justice, IMO, unless they spent a LOT more time working on it).  George is so sparkly-cassanova~  I love it! XD  And his outfits had me falling over myself trying to inch closer to the monitor.  Mmm... pinstripes... X3~  And Arashi and Miwako were done so wonderfully (as far as seiyuu and animation goes) <3

Even after finishing the ParaKiss manga, I have to admit, I still love George.  I can't bring myself to hate him.

Quote from: "utada1967"you should have a jpop and jrock music room.they would play music, videos and even concert from different artist
like, a PV room along with all the video rooms? i like this idea. i have a few PVS i could donate... :P
I'm all for this, as well.  Otakon had a super awesome PV room that played relatively late at night, and it was a very nice touch.  Great for when you're up late and need something to watch/sing between events/shows.  The main reason they had one at Otakon, though, was because there was a group who had a panel (I think it was either a music or fansub panel) at the convention, and they fansubbed PVs.  It was really neat, I think they were called 'Red Apple Productions' or something like that.  I remember they did a stretch of HIDE videos for us when the room was more or less a group of twenty or so VK fangirls.

Anyways, yes, if someone could set this up it'd be great!  I don't know what legal gunk you have to cut through to do it, but if it's possible...  :D  Hell, I could probably donate a few dozen if there's a lack (official DVDs of PVs and that sort of thing), but again, I have no idea if you have to get permmission to show those or not.

Quote from: "Croquet"Isn't swing considered ballroom dancing? Anyway, I know eastcoast, merenge, and salsa, so anyone who wants to learn, just find me! Yeah, we don't need too much romantic dancing, do we? I guess we could throw a couple of those dances into the mix. But swing sounds great. Especially if there was a small class/panel about the basics beforehand. Maybe? Maybe not?
Oh... is it considered ballroom?  I didn't know that, I just assumed it was in a different category for some reason. ^^;

A basic class would be great, since it's relatively easy to make up your own moves and such once you know the basics.  I know most people probably had a little bit of swing dancing in either middle or high school, but a refresher is always nice.  :)

Quote from: "Spiritsnare"So next year, there's going to be an Otaku Orgy?!
Only if all participants bathe.

To add to my list...
I promise to try to beat last year's after-hours chest-groping record.  (It's amazing what you can get away with if you're female <3 )

Hello!  Just out of curiousity since I've been gone for a while... this is still going strong, is it not?  If we're going to do this, does anyone have preferences as to how the signs (the ones on big sticks for the cosplayers' benefit) should look?  If not, I'm going to start drafting up some from my own preferences, and experiment with carving.  It's been a while since I last carved something substantial.  If you want to see how a certain design would look, let me know and if it's not too difficult, I'll comp an example and post pictures of it.

Quote from: "CC"I have one question in regard to the Chess Game... who would be moving people?

...... Actually, here's one more. Where would it be held? If it's directed by two sort of "overlord" players who direct the pieces, you'd need a pretty high vantage point to be able to see the whole board. Also, there might be a lot of injured costumes if the chessboard is too crowded, which might lead to a lot of heated arguments, which might lead to a ban on such activities. If we're using real people, and that's what it sounds like, you'd practically have to hold it in a basketball arena. Forgve me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen too many giant rooms in the convention center that are at least two stories high. If the game was played on a normal sized board with the moves called out to the pieces, well, that might work, but it wouldn't be as much fun, I think.

Don't get me wrong--I love the idea. I'm just confused about the... well, the battle plan for making it happen. I'd love to take pictures of it, if it ever happens, though....

Ah, that's easily solved!  In the thread I believe we discussed having a simple, normal chess tourney, and then to have the winners play each other in the champiionship match with the cosplayers.  The two chess players would play on a regular chessboard, with an announcer (or two? or none?) telling the corresponding chess players where to move after each turn.  If we did that, it would be a lot less confusing.

Does that help?

I'm liking the idea of a dance that's a little less... clubbish.  I'd prefer swing to ballroom, though, since it's more of a social dance than a romantic dance.  With swing, it's easier to toss around/switch partners.

I third the Shiina Ringo idea!  Stellar pipes on that woman, and when she rolls her 'r's....  :D  Shiina's freaking AMAZING.  <3  Not sure if it would go over too well with the audience if Fanime continues to get younger and younger members like it has been, but I would LOVE to see her in concert.  :3

Also, I repeat once again, just because I really really REALLY want to see her again...
Bring back Higuri You!  Pretty please?  I know she's busy with those two projects, but man, she was so sweet and awesome and just... HER!  You could even do a sort of double-feature panel on her and the artist she's working with on that Sword & Sorcery type English project (err... I'm pretty sure it will be in English, anyways...)!

Quote from: "Pimpstress Rei"I promise to make sure the newsletter goes well this year.

I promise to have the program guides out ON TIME this year.

I promise to have kick ass flyers floating about to draw in more people so DealerDave will love me and bow before me cuz people are buying so much stuff.
<3<3<3!  :D

I promise to finish my Hatoko costume.
I promise to follow through with the Cosplay Chess idea, and whatever work that entails.
I promise to suck it up and hit on all the gorgeous people I really want to hit on, instead of being a wimp.  T.T;  Subtly, ofc.  And politely.
I promise to go to DerCosplay, if only for the chance to see TeniMyUSA X3
I promise to ditch my lamer friends if they want to do nothing besides sit around in a hotel room when there are other things going on.
I promise not to get saddled with any of my friends' siblings, no matter how many favors I owe them, if they are rabid, biting, money-sucking, whiny little leeches.
I promise to not hassle staff.  <3
I promise to try harder to make all of the autograph/meet&greet panels.
I promise to enjoy MusicFest as much as I have for the past four years.
I promise to not mind the glares/leers/dirty looks/conservative outrage generated by my unusual black & white (yet long sleeved and fully covering) wardrobe.
I promise not to get mad at males who lack the decency to say a simple hello, and instead simply walk up, stare at my chest (read my shirt), and then walk away.
I promise to not take no for an answer when attempting to find Disgaea doujin.
I promise not to sleep in chairs anymore, and to bring an extra blanket so that I can move to sleeping on the windowsill for all three nights.  Best view to wake up staring out at, unless you've got a really gorgeous someone in your bed.

Oh good... I wasn't just imagining the Santana Row chessboard X3  Not sure if that would work out as far as transportation... but yeah, it would save quite a bit of work as far as making a board, and it could house the tournament as well.  So... well, I'll leave that for other people to debate the pros and cons of.

Although I for one would NOT mind lunch at Blowfish Sushi before/afterwards... they're pretty good.  :D

As far as notation goes, if it comes down to it, I'm sure we'd have enough idle "watchers" who aren't actively participating that would be willing to hold up signs and stand around the board.  Then the cosplayers could just look at the signs and move to the right square.  That might get a bit crowded or disrupt the aesthetics of the scene... but it's something to consider.  Plus, it would give the watchers something to do instead of just milling around awkwardly.  :3

The Yaoi chess seems to be a bit too... overkill.  I agree that it's definately not something that would cater to all the participants, and while I would love to see it done... perhaps that's something Y-con attendees (I know there's at least a few of you in this thread...) should think about organizing at Y-con?  I'm sure if someone mentioned it to the Yaoicon staff, or requested it as a panel or something, that it would go over well.  And you wouldn't have the problems with carding, since obviously, you've got to be 18+ to register for the convention!  :)  There may or may not be enough time for it... but if someone wants to set up a modified version of this for  this year's Y-con and gets it approved, I'd be more than willing to help out.  I'm registered, but I doubt I would have the time to organize everything since I'm starting summer school in like, two weeks.  I'm sure I could whip up the signs designating the pieces by the time Y-con rolls around, though.  I just need some advance warning.  ^_^

Checkers sounds awesome and hilarious as well, but it would be another restriction on costumes--nothing that protrudes or is overly large, i.e. wings, elaborate hats, stiff costumes that don't let you crouch down...

I think the action shot for captured pieces sounds really neat, I'm all for that, and I can bring my photo printer (little portable one) and each player who "dies" can have a copy of the image.  I would do the "killers" as well, but that would take up way too much ink...  Or maybe I should just do the "killers"?  :: shrugs ::  Or I could just charge a buck or two a photo for whoever wants them.  :3  It's kind of too expensive to do for free... :/

Maybe once they've "died" they get to do something embarrassing to the person who was controlling them, in exchange for having been killed/sacrificed?  Like... dropping an ice cube down thier shirt, or getting to 'haunt' them (whispering silly moves, tickling them, trying to make them lose concentration)?  Maybe nothing that drastic... but it'd be incentive for the actual players to not let any of thier pieces die if they had to endure something each time they lost a piece.  Maybe it would make the other person feel better about having their time on the board cut short, as well.  X3  Just an idea.

I like where this is heading...!

Quote from: "Sassi_the_SYFG"How about a chess tournament on Friday, and then the Cosplay Chess on Saturday?  That way you can have the top two players from the tournament be the ones to dictate the movements of the human pieces, making it a championship game.
There are a few problems with the tournament + championship games:
How will we find the space for a tournament? Are there enough people willing to actually play chess? Anime fans tend to come to conventions for the anime - and a lot don't know how to play chess.
I also will most likely be attending only Saturday and Sunday - It's not until 2007 that I'll be able to spend a whole four days at Fanime. Being a highschooler sucks.
The tournament idea sounds kind of cool... >.>;  If you live in the SJ area, could someone please confirm/correct this info for me?  I believe that Santana Row has a bunch of chess tables, with bags attached to each that hold the chess pieces.  They're outdoors, and free for public use.  They also have a large chessboard set into the ground, and some big pieces you can push around on it (but if I recall, some are broken/chipped/missing).  If there was a way to get people over there, that would be a neat place to have it... well, maybe not the cosplay part, since it's kind of a ritzy place, and people in cosplay might get glared at and insulted by the rich people x_x;  I /think/ it's in Santana Row, but it's been a while since I've been there, so if someone could fill me in on if it's still there or not, that'd be awesome.

I'm not much of a cosplay person, since I'm horribly lazy, but if I was, I'd love to be part of this.  As is, I hope you manage to get a full crew of people, 'cause I'd definately go watch, and I could videotape it and put it online (if someone would host the file/torrent) for those who participate.  :D  Good luck~

[edit] Oh yes, and if no one else is up for it, I'd be willing to make the signs for the players.  Something like the ones in that image ced1106 linked, maybe out of painted balsa wood?  I like artsy crafts.  This sounds like fun :3 [/edit]

Argh.  Don't you hate how they always have those?  I wish more FCs would allow overseas members... I would have done backflips through hoops of fire to see Gackt when he had his FC-only trip in Vegas--or hell, even the one in Hawaii... ;_;

Not sure if this really applies to me, as I'm not a regular poster, but here goes.

I'm not on AIM much... usually I just idle there.  I'm more of an IRC junkie.  If you set up something on IRC, my usual haunts are on Freenode and Aniverse.  Drop me a server name and channel, and I'll be the potted plant in the corner of the room that doesn't shut up.

I second that!  If I had known there was going to be a group doing anything TeniMyu related, I would have found SOME way to get to the Masquerade!!  As it was, I couldn't make it due to some problems regarding some close friends, three cell phones, and a paranoid parent.  :(

Let's see...  I've gleaned the impossible ones (Gackt, Megumi Hayashibara, CLAMP, etc.) from the list, so here's what's left.

Seiyuu:
  • Minagawa Junko (TeniPuri, Loveless, He is My Master?!)
  • Suwabe Junichi (TeniPuri, FMA, Boogiepop, X)
  • Miki Shinichirou (Weiss, .Hack, Bleach, Initial D)
  • Yuuki Hiro (Weiss, Arc the Lad, Evangelion, Angelique)
  • Minami Omi (Nadesico, Excel Saga, Kiddy Grade, Orphen)
  • Seki Tomokazu (Weiss, Angelic Layer, Gravitation, Initial D, X) <-- I missed his appearance at AX ;_;
  • Koyasu Takehito (Weiss, Excel Saga, Gundam, Initial D, Utena) <-- Maybe this is pushing "impossible"...
Mangaka:
  • Higuri You <-- It would be SO AWESOME if you could bring her back!  I would LOVE to see her again!  She was so sweet and amazing and just.... guh.  <3
  • Mihara Mitsukazu <-- Any GothicLolita fan's dream.  Still waiting for them to publish Happy Family in english~
  • Yukiru Sugisaki <-- Is this pushing "impossible" as well?
  • Koge Donbo <-- I saw her at Otakon 04, but the autograph lines were so outrageous that they actually sent people (including me) away... T_T;  She seemed very nice, though.
  • Kaori Yuki
  • Ai Yazawa
Musical Guests:
  • Camino <-- I ADORE them.  So down to earth, and Kiku is one of the sweetest people out there!  Not to mention, they're GREAT performers.
  • ZZ <-- Talk about working a crowd--they rocked this year!  Ramen & Rice were great and all, but ZZ really made MusicFest worth it for me.  That's the kind of show that I expect to hear as a finale.
  • Miyavi <-- Mmmm... still waiting for him to try to do the US tour thing again, and PERFORM... <3
  • The Pillows <-- How I wish I had been able to see them when they came to SF!  Unfortunately, I didn't quite make the age cut.  Grr.
  • PuffyAmiYumi <-- Not sure if they would do a convention, but they're SUPER peppy and amazing live performers.  I've seen then three times now, in SF.
  • B'z <-- I've seen them in SF as well, and again, not sure if they'd do a con, but they have one helluva stage presence!
  • Pierrot <-- ...Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?  X3
  • Aya Ueto <-- Nothing to do with Anime, I don't think, unless you count the live action Ace wo Nerae series, but she's my favourite female j-artist, and people might recognize her from Azumi or numerous j-dramas.
  • Kotani Kinya <-- Hee.  I bet he would be hilarious live.  X3
  • AVEX groups <-- There are TONS of talented groups on the AVEX label, so if Fanime could break into that and do, say, 1 AVEX group like ZZ each year, we could get some really REALLY big names.  Maybe not anything like Ayu or Hikki or Globe, but still.
Okay... I have to put this last one here, because even though it's like asking for someone to give me a handful of sand from the moon, I still desperately want to hear live, at least once in my life...
  • Yoshiki <-- Come on, he has a (GORGEOUS) house in LA, he's promoting his Violet UK stuff (granted, some attendees might not like the classical, but he does enough of a mixture...), and he can play just about ANY genre of music.  He's got a greater-than-great stage presence, he's a LEGEND, and he epitomizes (and produces) j-rock--both past AND present.  Okay, so chances are below zero, but I had to try.  Even if he is a pain in the ass to work with, and even though he would probably give the staff more stress than they would know what to do with... I would be very apologetic to anyone who had to deal with him, but man, it would be worth a year of hell to hear him perform one hour of music.  To me, anyways.
