I'll second (third?) this.  We'd really like to hear what they're planning to do for next year to resolve this years problems, and time is running short.

On Memorial Day weekend 2014, the following other cons are taking place per AnimeCons.com:

Animazement (Raleigh, NC)
Anime Minneapolis
Anime North (Toronto)
MomoCon (Atlanta)
Omni Expo (Orlando)
Anime Oasis (Boise, ID)

Every single one of them has updated their site with announcements and updates since this year's con (i.e. hotel information, travel discounts, periodic contests).  Registration is up on their site, and most of them even have guests announced.

On the other hand...not a peep from Fanime.

The problem is, similar reassurance came at the end of 2012 (with admittedly, the biggest problem being registration's backup due to an unforeseeable and uncontrollable power outage) and 2013 turned out to be a much bigger mess.

That's what we wanted to think but after it turned into a bigger mess in 2013 like you said, I'm not even sure that the backup in 2012 was due to the power outage.
They are actually really early(in fact I would say jumping the gun). Fanime still has like 7 months until the convention. So it isn't that big of a deal. Once February hits, than I'd be worried.

It's February. The website is still non-functional. Can we worry now?

...ok, it's been months. anything new?

More months.......Things are in motion, but facilities are no simple deal. So let the pieces fall in its place and we can announce once all i's dotted and t's crossed. Don't want to announce, then have to change later b/c of some oversight.

Thanks for your patience!

3 months later, is there anything you can tell us?

Registration / Fanime 2012 attendance figures
October 03, 2013, 11:14:13 PM
I was checking out AnimeCons.com and they had a list of the top 10 anime north american conventions by size in 2012 and, no surprise, fanime is on the list.

Oddly enough, there was only an estimated figure for attendance, though. Every other con on the list had an actual count. Why doesn't Fanime have an actual head count? (This is for the 2012 con, so it's not like there hasn't been enough time to figure it out)

It's all in my todo list already: clean the floor, wind-tunnel effect, low lighting at a bad temperature, and water stations in there. The gears will likely be in motion to confirm the next AA location in a few days. Of course, it may take months to confirm this, but feedback from the artist surveys, the feedback form. the staff, and to a smaller extent the forums will all affect our decisions.

...ok, it's been months. anything new?

Registration / Re: Lines on Day 0

worst fustercluck ever. Power failed and it took them forever to figure out how to handle it. 4 hours in line, most of it entirely stationary.

In the case that the weather is nice next year, could you put some fans in the pre-registration maze area on Thursday? When it's packed with humanity, it gets unbearably hot in there.

Because I get to hang out with people I only get to see at conventions.

And also there are catgirls.

Give the door monitors to the artist's alley and dealer's room hand clicker thingies to allow them to do rough headcounts. You guys have decisions to make. How are you going to make informed decisions in the absence of data?

Can there be a wireless repeater installed inside the artists alley? It's hard getting phone calls in there, my friends had no bars. At least with wifi they could use email...

Install a stop motion camera in spots around the con and put the output on youtube. A day of Fanime in 2 minutes...

I submitted my email address to the password reset link but no email ever appears.

BTW - the reason this is important is because I never got the postcard email and I need to print one asap.
