Hello Fanime Cosplayers!
I have been working on streamlining the gatherings and events process so it is easier to understand and do. I will also have lots of announcements to tell everyone over the course of the next two months, but for now I need to get caught up so please be patient.

The "Theme Gathering" is separate from this event, but both will be run by my department.

If someone is in to acting, singing or dance and wanted to show off their talents in front of their Fanime peers then this event would be perfect for them! Of course they should be brave... very brave... cause the Fanime Fans are the ones with the say so on just how good it is :P It isn't about the cosplay costume quality or even if you made it  :o, it is about the "SKILLLLZ! ::)" *giggles I am tempting all of you huh?  ;D

@bahamutknightzero:  :-X Glad I have your interest and I can't wait to tell everyone about it!

so you do want the gathering organizers to wait to post a time for their respective gatherings until this is approved? I'm just curious, cause usually I like to get a time secured asap.

TO EVERYONE: I know that this may be an slight inconvenience, but to not give the heads up would be a bigger mistake. I have a dozen requests already, but as I have stated... Yukari ~ organizer of the Bleach gathering, BrightHeart ~ organizer of the Naruto gathering, and myself/BSaphire ~ Organizer of both Shonen Jump and Final Fantasy All gatherings will set our times first so that there is space for these large gatherings and those that come to see them. Also, if the Fanime theme gathering (which happens to be "Fantasy RPG" collects those that attend the FF ALL gathering then it will be a back to back large gathering on Saturday along with the Bleach gathering.

Some of you may be asking why so here is perspective as to why...
Take either of my two gatherings:
Shonen Jump had 75 cosplayers attending the gathering in 09 and for each cosplayer there is at least one person in the crowd so that is 150 people in one area. From there you can add another 50 people in photographers and friends which brings it to 200. This takes up quite a bit of room and the area is more congested for a longer period of time.
Final Fantasy ALL has 61 possible cosplayers as of 1/15/2010. I expect 100 + cospeeps in attendance and at least 150 in the crowd.
Bleach and Naruto will have around 100 cospeeps in attendance and the same with the crowd.

So with this large of a group in one area for one or more hours it can congest one side of the fountains. Large 60+ gatherings are held outside because of this. I also want to mention that these large gatherings pull most of the photographers to them because of the large assortment of coplayers so this could cause another gathering to not get as much photo recognition as it could when set at a different time slot.

If any organizer wishes to submit their time request now (via pm) they may, just follow the directions on the third post of the gatherings list thread. Once the large gatherings are listed then I will process the completed requests by day and time submitted so that it is fair.

I also want to mention that if an organizer has someone helping on a different forum (they are running the one on the Fanime forums but the assistant is running the one on the Cosplay . com Fanime section of the forum then please submit their info with yours.

If a submission is incomplete then until it is complete it does not get considered. ie* You send a pm on Friday with your gathering info but forgot the URL's then it isn't complete. I send you a reply and you resubmit it on Monday complete. I then consider Monday to be the day that the complete time submission request was sent to me and not Friday.

@ Avairrianna: :) Hummmm... I like that guess... it could be something like that :P or not *LOL  ;D

Ah yes, I remember you mentioning this before. I'll make sure my Cosplay Battle event doesn't clash with the timing (my gathering shouldn't interfere, given it's on friday evening). Looking forward to it!

:o Oh MY GOSH! SORRY... I fixed that... You are both awesome people and I put the wrong name. Fixed another typo/spelling error too. @ Eliteslayer: If this is really successful I hope to have one of the preliminary shows Friday evening. Going with Sunday and Saturday first though. Max #'s we have planned are: 4 preliminary shows of no more than 15 entries each preliminary with 4 judges each preliminary (60 total entries and 12 judges) and then a final show where the preliminary winners compete against each other on Sunday.

As a teaser I want to throw out this bit of info:  If this event is a go... it is a great way to test out your skit for Cosplay Masq, extra singing practice for your Karaoke competition, or a place to show of your mad dance skills, just to name a few... the catch is that it is in front of the audience who will say if you have what it takes to impress them. The audience will be able to greatly help the judges in determining if your awesome or if your one of those that needs to get off the stage. Like I said before... bring your best game and let the Fanime fans decide.

Oooh cool! :D I shall have no problem with this. I am definately interested, then! :D I'll have three dances prepared for Fanime! ^^ And no, they're not Haruhi dances. =P The 3 I'm talking about, I still have to learn them, sorta! XD I might try singing, too. ^^;;

So the big news is..... *sigh.... I didn't get the answers I needed to launch... but Sara and I are working on it.... Feel like I'm at a dance and my partner keeps changing....

Anyway... Peeps can submit their time requests via pm if they feel they can't hold out ... The next meeting is Feb 20th, but I hope to have this resolved way before then! I did do a list of those time submission requests that are complete and a second list of those that still require info. You can find it on post #4 on the Gatherings and Events List Thread.

Thank you everyone for your support and patients. :) Sara and I deeply appreciate it!

Now that I have somewhat reliable internets, I would like to add my two cents...

I'm so glad to see you all looking forward to this event (if it gets launched). I promise that you won't be disappointed by our little master plan of awesome-ness-ness-ness. It will be amazingly fun to watch and to participate in. But, B is correct in her dance analogy. We're dancing to a different beat at every new turn with new partners at every other new turn. It's rather frustrating. But I feel that we're making progress. Hopefully you won't have to wait much longer for us to be able to finally announce it... officially... =D
Anyway, sorry if our little master plan is inconveniencing to any of you.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all at Fanime very soon.

I don't have a Twitter but I think the idea about Tweeting the gathering would be worth trying. :)

I usually keep all the gatherings on my phone calender and have it remind me.

So I wanted to let some of you know about our epic first day's highlights, but I will just tell you about the surprise guests that showed up at the guilty gear blaz blue gathering. Daisuke Ishiwatari & Toshimichi Mori loved jumping in with all the cosplayers for some wonderful group picks!
I don't know who had more fun at the Fight games gathering, Guest of Honor Ric Meyers or the Fight Game cosplayers. It is my understanding that Ric even wanted a few photos of the fun for his followers on one of his sites :)
So that is just a taste of what you missed... though most of you are probably @ the FLOW concert right now... but tomorrow we will be running our raffles and be going full force both inside and out side the con center with 27 gatherings, six cosplayer events, protest background music and lots of other stuff all over the con. If I get a chance tomorrow night I hope to post back the fun things that happened on Saturday, but it would be much better if you were here and a part of all the fun that is Fanime.

Hi guys! Just got back from FFAll gathering. It was awesome. Special Guest Hiroyuki Yamaga came and was apart of the magic. He gave away some of his Dinner Party Tickets and an awesome FF13 Elixir. We had a bit more than expected come, and some who said they would who didn't. :{
Sorry we missed you if you didn't make it. B was Siren from FF9. She looked GREAT!!

I saw many ways to improve this department, but I really want your feedback. Please keep it clean and post or pm me with what was Great, what was Good, and what could be better about your Cosplayer Gatherings and/or Cosplayer Event experiences @ Fanime 2010!

Hnn... I was a newbie to Fanime so I don't know of this is how things go but to me it seemed like the cosplay gathering list seemed too small for me or not obvious enough. I saw a lot of people who didn't know there were gatherings or where and well, I guess it was a point that things should be pointed out more specifically because some people didn't know. Also, I know it may seem like a lot but a print out on the bags of the gatherings could be useful that way people know and can plan it a bit in time. I don't know. Just a thought x.x

Being new to Fanime and a cosplayer it can be overwhelming to find the info, especially if this is your first anime convention. I appreciate your feedback and I do like the idea of printing on the bags and will check into it, but I don't want loose gatherings if it to has an early print requirement.

Print dates are to way to early for Fanime items. To compensate I decided to add the Twitter option where we post hourly the upcoming hours gatherings and events. If you follow it next year you will know 1/2 to 1 hour ahead of time what gathering or cosplayer event is to happen in the next hour.

The Blue Gatherings Info boards will be back and I might create a few more boards to position around the convention. With the increase in numbers of attending and cosplayers the boards were not as easily seen at peak hours during the weekend.

As a new official department and the huge increase in attendance the department suffered growing pains so feed back will be helpful for next year.

Thank you, BSaphire and everyone who worked at the gatherings department. You guys were very helpful as always; I could check in to the things I was hosting quickly enough, and when I couldn't find the Pokemon gathering, the person working there pointed me towards it without even needing a second to think.

If I had to criticize anything, when I was looking at the list of gatherings, the events were located towards the middle of the page while the gatherings were on the side. Sometimes I missed the events while looking at all the gatherings. That's all I can think of right now.

This was my second year hosting a gathering at Fanime, and both years I've found the staff to be incredibly helpful. So thanks for your hard work.

I am looking into how I would like the set up for the info boards. One thing I would like to point out is that some people think the pages are out of order. They aren't, they are set up to be read like a manga, after all it is an anime convention and not a SciFi con. It will be easier to read next year, even with the large number of gatherings and events we might have.

I will let my staff know that they are appreciated and thank you for your feed back.
BTW.... How were the attendees, photographers, and protesters @ your gatherings & event?

We lost a few people on the way there, and a lot of people after the first major picture, because of how long the wait was, and not everyone was being super patient or helpful.

Thank you spookdy for your input :)  I would like the concourse patio Marriott side for JUST COSPLAYER GATHERINGS & COSPLAYER EVENTS next year.

With what happened to the Pokemon gathering and other events it has re-enforced why I would like the WHOLE patio for us and locked in the evening hours when we aren't running stuff. If the gathering had the side of the patio where the food vendor was there would have ben enough room to accommodate the 100 + cospeeps that attended the gathering.

Let's chalk this up to 1st year growing pains and I am trying to see what I can do on my end. Next year will be better so bring your Pokemon cosplay back ^^)

Attendees were great; everyone at the Cosplay Battles seemed to have a great time, and the Negima Gathering was small but enjoyable. Can't complain about the people there. Would have been nice if they'd drawn in more photographers, but they've got their own schedules to adhere to, and people still got photos of everything. Plenty of them were at the larger gatherings, so there are some nice pics out there.

As for the protestors, they didn't cause me any trouble at least, but I can't speak for everyone. I think they drew a smaller crowd this year, but I hope no gatherings were interrupted by them.

Staff was very helpful and nice. 

If I had any problems it was that the check in table seemed very crowded, but there's not a lot to be done about that.  Also, the raffle thing confused me.  That may have just been me though.

All together the gatherings and events seemed great this year.  It seemed like there was always a gathering going on, and while they were all well controlled there was originality and creativity in each gathering.  It was fun as an organizer AND as an observer.

The only problems I had for gatherings was that there were people who didn't show up who said they would (which is usual) And I had trouble getting four and a half gatherings organized.

For next year it's only going to be three for me.

Only negative thing that comes to mind isn't anything extreme.
The raffle ticket thing sounded like a good idea, but the fact you had to be present to win was one thing I'd suggest changing if possible?

For the riser stage where the FMA gathering or any other gathering that takes place there would it be possible to have some kind of curtain to block out the light coming from outside the convention center. Or at the very least give a better looking background for the people taking pictures.

I second this.  At one of the gatherings, someone was getting a photo shoot outside and the photographers had these huge reflectors to light up the cosplayer better, but it created a glaring light right into the riser stage area.  Plus now we've got photos of them in the background of our photos.

So I am looking for everyone's favorite memories from Fanime Con 2009 & 2010 to add in the Memories book(s). Naruto Gathering is my favorite every year (I wonder why?). 

2009 - I was lucky enough to have my sister and my best friend with me for this, something that rarely happens since my best friend lives in Missouri.  We had over 100 cosplayers and the atmosphere was great.  After the gathering we had our first ever Naruto Picnic.  Just a few of us really, but it was FUN.  Good people, fun times and some silly pictures.

2010 - What can I say about 2010 except for "WOW!" what a year.  We had something going on every day of Fanime.  My favorite part though was not the regular gathering or the FLOW meet up or even the picnic or checkers or the breakfast...good gravy we were busy this year.  No, my favorite part was the 10 pm Friday night "meet up and see who your fellow fans are" meeting.  It was SPECTACULAR!  I expected 4 or 5 people...oh no we had 20+ fans, some in cosplay some just hanging out.  It was an hour of fun, relaxed, all out silly good times.  I hope we get to do it again in 2011!

This thread is specifically for the cospeeps to know what we are working on, looking for, or other important info. After all, our staff are supposed to come into the gatherings section and look at what all the wonderful cosplayers are working on :) so it is a place where we can see 'what's happening' with the department and also a place where cospeeps can post their ideas and suggestions through out the year. Sorry if I have confused anyone :( not my intention, but I know as a cosplayer that I would like to know what I could look forward to besides all the wonderful gatherings and events. :)

Ok, so feedback is like this:
Thursday: Fun
Friday: Kickback, relaxation, fun
Saturday: Fun, protesters=sunburn, fun, KH Gathering SUPERFUN!
Sunday: Suuuuuper laid back compared to Saturday, fun
Monday: Did I even work?

Overall, the staff was awesome, the members were awesome, and I had a blast. The best part was the Cosplayer Hangout. :D

Bleach gathering went well as usual :)
what I was surprised at was that there was an actual time limit for our spot - I was not made aware of this, and the official staff photographer who showed up at the gathering to take the big group photo was telling me we had to be out of the Hilton-side fountains spot by 12 (we started at 11:30). For a gathering of Bleach's size, half an hour is barely enough time to get all the group photos in. Was there an actual time limit for gathering spots this year?

Thanks BSaphire for giving us a head's up about the patio, it was much appreciated. To avoid any sort of conflict we moved the tea to the courtyard near the Hilton and it worked out decently well. We did miss the tables, but the space gave us room to organize some crack pairings. Plus we avoided the trouble of having to butt heads with anybody.

I did feel that the Kuroshitsuji gathering was a bit of a fire hazard on the convention floor lobby, so perhaps we'll have to find somewhere else to hold our gathering.



All in all, great Fanime. I loved that the staff at the peace-bonding station always asked where I'd like the zip-tie to be. Mine were visible, but my roommates didn't mind having to stop and show their "concealed" (hidden at the base of guards) zip-ties when asked - they preferred not having them show during photos even though they were asked several times about peace-bonding.

A big thanks to the people who kept everything running smooth and, especially, to BSaphire herself.



My one complaint would be that sometimes I was approached by staff not wearing the headset or the shirt (or anything else distinguishing them from other con-goers) and was told to move or that I needed to get something peace-bonded (which was when I was on my way over). Being approached like this confused me more than anything else. I think I often gave them a blank stare and then hesitantly complied or just walked off.

Rude Rovers and peace bound a flag pole, come on. They warned me about being in uniform. I ignored them ,but Fanime was still fun. Also next year Final Fantasy VII gathering will not be held after the Final Fantasy All gathering, no offense BSaphire, but you did over flowed into my time and my gathering only lasted 5 minutes because my group was upset and such. I hope next year is better.

I didn't like the fact that the staffer assigned to the Shin Megami Tensei/Persona Midnight Gathering left halfway through because "we were disorganized" despite the fact that the organizer never showed up and that myself a couple of other veterans in cosplay gatherings took it over and did the best we could in a short amount of time.

Shortly after that person left, rovers came up thinking that we were unauthorized gathering and using a megaphone at nearly midnight and it took some time to figure that out without a staff member present. By the time the rovers OKed us to continue, we were passed our assigned half-hour and thus the gathering was over.

Either than that, the department did a wonderful job!

Great fanime all in all, and I second chaosbark's appreciation for you coming over and telling us about the bbq people! I sent you a pm asking about next year, and possibly getting a place where we can sit down and have food ;D

My only complaint is that sometimes the people with the really big flagpoles weren't being too careful with them. I know one of my friends got her mask broken, and I almost got beaned in the eye by one of them.

@ Yukari: All returning 60+ have one hour in their locations. When a gathering gets that big it just takes longer to get it all done :) On behalf of the CGD photogs... I think they might have mixed that up... sorry and I will go over it again next year. The CGD photogs shot 14,000 photos (yep!) Saturday taught the department many things like making the staff working crowd control by the protesters take a break for an hour and limiting the amount of time they are out there, 39 gatherings on one day is too many even with 4.5 department photographers out there, and CGD will need to revamp it's set up again because we have defiantly out grown how it is now. So with that said, know that next year you have one hour in your location for Bleach and be kind and remind my photogs... they learned sooo much to be prepared for taking photos that I think it might have slipped their minds.

@chaosbark: Glad that the heads up helped the tea to run smoother. I have already been working on a solution for our tea's and it means "Proposal Time" for CGD. The Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler gathering will need to be outside if it returns next year. It is to big for 1FCC LA or 1FCC RS, unless there is a rain emergency, and if you are going to head up both parts it would make things much easier. Large returning gatherings should have 2 organizers because who doesn't need help when it comes time to do the gathering :)

@AnimefanJJ:1st I want to say I'm sorry I ran into your time :( I thought I had managed to squeeze it into the 1 hr and I will work on that for next year. Also, it will most likely stay @ 1 pm on Saturday so maybe you can do VII around noon if you choose to do it on Saturday next year. More often than not I have found that the cospeeps that are in a large multi title gathering like their smaller single title gathering to happen before so they can do their fun shots before hand. You may already know this, but there are those out there that don't so I thought I would throw it out there.

@ HeeroYuy135: The 2nd SMT gathering listed for midnight was on the boards so that peeps would know it would happen. Once the CGD GET closes my staff is technically off. I did talk to the photog that showed up and I know that they did try to get some shots, but they were not really familiar with the title so they couldn't do as much to help. Also note that the CGD staff start their day at 9 am and were technically off by 7 pm, though many of us do go above and beyond.
Did you help them out with organizing it all? I sure hope so. As for rovers, most of them who were returning rovers were pretty on their game. There were those that were new that some of us had issues with, but I don't think they were trying to deliberately hassle you guys. That is one of the reasons why I made sure it was on the big blue boards :)

@raenef: You are more than welcome. I am so glad that I could help. I'm still sorry that the pretty Lolita's had to deal with the issue, but because they did I was able to warn you guys and if thinks work out I hope to have something worked out for all those "part 2" gatherings out there for 2012! :P
As for the flagpole issue, I worked with a couple of peeps who designed some "flag etiquette" for cosplayers to use as a guide, and I know that Rovers included it into different areas, but unfortunately there are those that don't read the program guide and see the "Flag Etiquette" section.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I am superduper impressed with how hard my staff worked this year and how much the training helped. I know that going into 2012 I will need to make some changes. Since I started organizing all of this back in 2005 one thing has remained true and constant.... no matter what the number of gatherings and events it has grown every year. If you are curious as to how much... well 2005 had 22 gatherings and 2 events. This year there were 79 gatherings and 20 cosplayer run events. Overhaul is going to have to happen. Please keep the feed back coming and let me know how 2011 Fanime was for you. For me, as a cosplayer, the best thing was the "Cosplayer Hangout" I'm soooo glad that we had a place to go and next year will be even better! The worst thing was all the hateful/hurtful things the protesters were saying about my staff and us, but like we have been doing... we will just roll with it and not let it ruin our FanimeCon!

Fanime and CDG are paying close attention to the destruction/construction in the area. Don't worry about it for now. Like I said in my first post... Let's see where they are in January before we worry about too much. Besides, I am more worried about our large events that were happening in the walkway then the fountain area. The odds are good that the fountain area will be ok.

Again... for those that were having planning on a tea party/picnic type event with their gatherings I would like a PM on the # that attended your event last year (not the gathering itself) so that I can work on a room for those events to be held in. BE WARNED Ahead of time though... If I can pull this off there may be some specifics in order to use it but it is safe to say that I will try very hard to have our collective back on the room requirements. :)

2 things:

1 - I'm so excited to come back next year. Staffing with you guys was a blast. To anyone considering staffing with the CGD: it's chaotic, it's exhausting, and it's some of the best fun you'll ever have. <3

2 - Do we have any updates from our photographers? I know Greg has somewhere around 20 pictures up on smugmug, but beyond that I have no idea.

Thank you and your staffers for helping us organize gatherings around the construction!
The photographers that came out to the gathering I ran did a great job working with us! And some of the other gatherings I attended, they also put a lot of good energy into working with the cosplayers.

One point of feedback: some of us did not get certificates for organizing the gatherings.
It was real hit and miss from what I saw, we were told to check back the next day and they would be there for us, and nope.
It's a little disappointing because this is second time this has happened to me (can't remember if it was last year or the year before). It's not an end of the world horrible thing to never get your certificate, but it's nicer when you do get them. And someone who won't be able to make it back next year, never got their's either.
I hope you can see this is corrected for next year? (But see my point this is a second year this has happened.)

I understand how you feel and I offer my appologies. I believe it was the year of Steampunk that this happened last time and I can rectify it for those who contact me. I'm even willing to replace a few if people have lost one. I keep extensive paperwork so only those who were organizers should PM me about unreceived or lost certificates and I will see what I can do about replacing them. Please put "CERTIFICATE" in the SUBJECT line and then list your gathering/event (s) and year. It would help to have a complete address where to send them.

Kimu: I worked hard since 2009 to have the Recognition Certificates done. They are important and I need them about three weeks before con to have them filled out and ready to go at con. The two years this has happened I received them @ con and though I have tried to fill them out it just becomes impossible with all that we are doing and the large #'s of gatherings and events. I am trying to ensure that this DOES NOT HAPPEN and I am glad you came forward with your concerns and expressed your appreciation for the certificates. It proves to me just how much they are appreciated by those who check in at the table, the hard work pre con, doing what is required to make each gathering/event "official" on both the URL and Gatherings List, and running it at con. To follow it through from beginning to end is no easy task and for many it comes from a true love of cosplay, which as many know, I do understand.

I have never publicly said anything about them and have had a few ney sayers in the background who didn't want to be on the "Official List"  and have been a slight touchy about following the process. Organizers like you and others are why I put forth such an effort every year and talk with several departments to have them designed and printed. It is but a small way to show ones appreciation for the work that goes into each gathering/event.

I have also looked for several years for someone to do some custom art for our department to put on our department staff badges and more. If you or anyone else is interested please PM me or send an email to: [email protected] and put "CGD ART" in the SUBJECT line.

Thank you again for expressing your concerns. It is very much appreciated.

I actually had no idea about the certificates last year, as I'd never gotten mine. I was certainly pleasantly surprised this year when one was handed to me, though! B, out of curiosity you wouldn't happen to still have last year's by chance, would you? I can live without it, I'm just wondering. c:

Happy Thanksgiving Cospeeps!

I moved again and I haven't been able to post for a while, but I haven't forgotten all of you :)

I will be cleaning up the forum soon as I can and getting everything for 2013 rolling. If you email me or pm me I will get back to you asap, but it will be a while so please bear with me on delays... I'm working on things but life has a way of slowing things up. Please help me out during this time by monitoring the forum and helping those that are new on how things operate here... 1st post list and such... I would greatly appreciate it. Miss talking with all of you and I hope that everyone has a great turkey day!

So today has been busy!
Forum clean up is complete with 65 locked pages of threads! This helps keep the 2013 info up to date and at the cospeeps fingers!

Though the number of gatherings is down, the # of large 60+ gatherings is up. We have 20 - 60+ gatherings and 13 - 20 events... so I'm pretty excited!

Happy Holidays Cospeeps!

So 2013 is about to end and though it has been a long year I can honestly say I am glad to see it go with the hopes of 2014 being 1000 x's better!

2013 had a whole lot happen both in the department and in my life so there are going to be some changes coming to 2014 CGD.
1st things first.... THE CONSTRUCTION IS OVER!!!!!! Thank you cosplay gods! This means our beautiful new map from this year will be changed accordingly. This also means that G8 will be reconstructed to G8 a & b (no more c) and G9 will have at least 3 locations for gatherings. G6 ("The Slab") will still be used for some gatherings and Cosplay Games so no worries there.
Inside the convention center... well there will be a few minor changes made, such as the Gatherings Table will be moved to a new location and that will be reflected on the new 2014 CGD map, and there will be some other minor changes, but nothing to worry over and I will keep you posted.

Now for some notes to the gathering organizers:

There were MANY large, super large, and several MEGA gatherings last year. I am making concessions accordingly since I know the planning involved for these things. You will still get to submit 1st for time/day/location for these and any other gatherings you are planning, however please make sure you are ready to PM me that information once the list OPENS. I will not consider ANY gathering or cosplayer event submission requests until the list opens for the corresponding gathering or cosplayer event. Definitions of large, super large, and mega will be listed with time @ location allotments on the Gatherings List thread once I get done revamping some stuff so look for the first 4 posts of that thread to be updated soon with dates and info on the revamped process.

I also want to remind all returning organizers to update your thread title to reflect 2014 (if you haven't already :P ) and make sure your first post is cleaned up too. If you are a new organizer taking over an old gathering please make sure you contact the previous thread starter/organizer to see if they are going to return to run the gathering again first.

Special Note on the Cosplay . com threads:
I will list those threads, on the URL thread, that meet the requirements I have set for the Fanime forum threads here. PLEASE remember that a gathering or event to be listed as "official" MUST have an active thread here on this section of the Fanime Forums. Here is where I communicate with the organizers so it is important that the organizers are active on these forums for me and the cosplayers that post in these threads.

I will be doing thread clean up very soon, this means locking old or inactive threads, so look for my post in the thread or if you are an organizer look for my PM because I will unlock it for you to update and make it an active thread again.

NOW... for Department news &/or business:

The department is looking for general staff, photographers, and a new position for those who do videography. See the first post for the general requirements and how to apply. If you wish to know more about getting into the video crew please submit me the general staff stuff along with a link to 3 videos that represent your video art. Each should not be more than 4 minutes long and be created by you and if you have one or two people who have helped you create your art then please list contact info for them if they will be a part of your crew. In the SUBJECT line of the email please put "Fanime 2014 CGD Video Crew" and send the email to [email protected]

I am also looking for chibi style artists to create a project or two for the department. If you are interested please send 3 jpeg images attached to your email and put "CGD Chibi Art" in the SUBJECT line please. The three images should represent the various techniques and style you use and define your chibi style. Send your email to [email protected]

As for department events, the Cosplayer Crane Ceremony will be returning on Friday evening of Fanime. There will be tech available for those who wish to do a short presentation on or for a loved one.
Our Chopped Cosplay competition will be returning this year with a BANG! We will be moving the show out to "The Hub" riser stage area on Saturday evening and team submissions are OPEN Now for those who wish to show their mad cosplay creation skills in a competitive environment. This is a challenging and exciting event for those competing and for those watching! All are welcome to apply so put your team (up to 5 members) together and join in on the madness! *more info and links to come so keep looking.
Some of the great workshops/Q&D sessions will be returning to the Cosplay Hangout during the days and we are looking for more cosplay related workshops to host, so if you are interested please send an email to [email protected] and put CH Cosplay Workshop in the SUBJECT line.
Our CGD Photographers are ready to take photos again this year. There will be some special stuff with them coming along with their professional style and cosplay charisma. There will be more to come on this so keep looking :)

mostly was the first choice on your organizer's list (I believe, don't hold me to it), so maybe next year you can talk with your organizer to work out a time better for the both of you.
