^ THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. 1PM would be excellent!

I realized that I never posted here about the 2009 gathering! Gosh, with all of the planning, why's there no post-Fanime pics or anything like that? :P Anyway, I was late by twenty minutes (ten minute improvement from 08....) and was told that the gathering was over, so I sulked with some other photogs for a few minutes before I realized the gathering had just begun (late I guess?). orz Anyway, didn't really take photos this year but here are a few shots:

one | two | three | four | five | six | seven | eight | nine

I was the Sakura in the poofy yellow skirt & crown :]

Sorry for not being able to stick around too long to chat, but I recognized a lot of you & absolutely LOVED the cosplays this year! Is anyone going to AX? (I'm gonna try, but ugh fail transportation is fail)

            Sakura (CCS)          &        Miku (Vocaloid)

Oh, & thanks to people who messaged me links! =)

YOOO, I totally forgot to post this here, but I'm doing a different version of Sakura for the gathering =) Anyway, excited to see you all on Sunday! :]

YES. I hope it won't be too crowded!

^ haha, I've taken more purikura than I can count. I'd rather not think about all that money I've spent...

I agree that there should be emphasis on techno, jpop etc, but I don't think it's fair for anyone to request a specific genre not to be played at all. Even if you some of you hate mainstream, there's bound to be at least a few at the dance who want to hear it. I for one think Lady GaGa & Flo Rida's music is catchy, and I have friends who go to Fanime who love them just as much as they love trance etc. It's impossible to cater to one person's personal taste bc there'll inevitably be people who hate it. So instead of downplaying certain genres, I think it's best if the DJs just have a lot of variety for dance-able music. =)

Oh geez, looked it up on the website & it can fit 900 people... It looks quite promising~

Does this location change mean the rave & b&w ball won't be in the same room this year?

I'm planning to attend this year... I didn't attend last year bc I hadn't heard great reviews about 07, but 08 sounded awesome, and I'm sure this year will be even better!

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Check-in
April 05, 2009, 12:35:26 PM
I understand that some measures have to be taken to prevent stealing etc, but I've also seen simple number tag check-in's work successfully & efficiently. It's popular for people who've checked out their room but still need a place for their luggage; a lot of hotels reserve a room near the lobby and one or two staff people sit at the doorway, and when you check in, they put a numerical tag on your bag & give you another tag with the same number on it. Doesn't that work as ID?

It's really efficient as well since you just need a few organized people + a spacey room... and then just have some requirements, like everything checked in must be in a bag etc for extra efficiency.

Whenever I use one of those systems I don't tip, it literally takes like two minutes. I've never had to sign a waiver or anything. (._.) But if you want to make profit/make up for the cost of the extra room, I guess a dollar fee or something works if you have people pay when they check in. Plus, since it's a sealed-off room, it's not like random people would come poking around and stealing.

I'll be attending, it's a great festival!

There's already a thread for the festival though :] (click)

It should be Saturday, I think they got mixed up; someone in that thread posted (cross-quoting here):

Ohh, good! ^-^  So this will be separate.  I believe that the CLAMP gathering will be @ 11 AM on Sunday.  I don't mind the current time for CG, and if everyone is ok with it, maybe it would be best to make it a permanent time..?

Since I'm not going to that gathering I'd feel a bit odd popping in and correcting them, but hellangel, maybe you should clarify things before they finalize plans & send in a time to BSaphire?

Wait, scratch that, they changed it to Sunday way before on page 3 (on the CG thread):

MAH!
I could wear either my Nunnally or Kaguya outfits, depending on which day you're gunna do the gathering...
I do strongly suggest either saturday or sunday because those two days are busy and more people would be able to attend the gathering and more people would come to take pictures... but the Naruto gathering is in the way and so is the masquerade on saturday... how about you move the time? like from 1 pm to 3pm or smt, that way everyone would agree since Naruto is on 1pm and masquerade is usually done at night right?

OMG BE NUNNALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to change it to Sunday as for now, same time though.

But even if it was an intentional change, you may want to make sure they know the two gatherings are on different days if they stick to their current plan.

Wait scratch all of that, I mixed it up. xDDDD; There was nothing wrong, both gatherings are on Sunday. Okay. Although a bit of clarifying never hurts anyone. Whoo, sorry about that xD

Panels and Workshops / Re: Lolita Panel and Fashion Show
February 28, 2009, 01:04:13 PM
Hi; this sounds like a very interesting panel! Question -- is there no way that minors can model for this? As a someone who's been into lolita fashion for a long time (okay relative to the others posting here, not THAT long), I recently got my friends into lolita, and some of them are signed into agencies & are looking for extra shows to do outside of typical gigs etc. We're all juniors in hs though, so that's like the 16-7 age range :<;;

If you can't accommodate, don't worry about it :] Just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask! (Btw, I can also lend a wardrobe if need be, but my stuff is custom-fit (~size 00; yes, I have no hips = =).)

There's already an Ouran gathering in the making, check it out here :]

edit: Oh, if it's an official transfer than nvm; g'luck with this gathering! I'll stop by for photos if I have time~

General Convention Discussion / Re: SLeeping schedule?
February 25, 2009, 12:05:36 AM
HAHA SLEEP WHAT.

My schedule isn't as bad as some of the people here; I sleep between 1 & 4 AM, and get up between 8 & 10:30 AM, depending on my personal schedule. Which is livable, but that + no food + losing voice etc really takes its toll after a while. (Oddly enough, I actually got more sleep at Fanime 08 then I had gotten all of that May; homework and organizing Fanime for twenty others = getting four hours of sleep x/)

There's a bigger problem with what I'm doing when I'm awake - like, there was this one time when I went out for a meal at 10PM after a masquerade and realized I hadn't eaten anything in more than a day.  ::)

Though I still plan on staying up to up to 4 AM for the dance etc, I always try to be as healthy, hydrated and well-rested as I can; I plan to take better care of myself this year! x];;;

Aah, I knew the difference but didn't know that Comic Con was industry-based. Learn something new every day. xD

roth14, there's nothing wrong with asking questions here :]

Live Programming and Events / Re: Purikura at fanime :3!
February 21, 2009, 01:07:51 PM
Aah, I love purikura; you should go to the shops in Japan, Taiwan, Korea etc; one time I went to this two story shop that had staff escorts and decorator people, it was beyond anything I see in the States. Though Asians (in Asia) usually outgrow the purikura stage by high school, I can see why it's so popular over here, especially amongst anime fans.

With that being said, remember that you'd have to find a place to actually get the machines. The only actual shop I know of around here is PikaPika in San Fran J-town; and yes, though bringing in & setting up those booths is possible, you'd have to plan all of that out. Though it takes away the fun of being in the sparkly atmosphere of a booth, I think it's more realistic to set up a "purikura-like" booth, ie with a photographer/automatic camera in a curtained stall and then have one of those notebook computers with Photoshop for decoration.

Don't get me wrong, I love doing purikura with my friends both here and overseas -- but at the moment, I don't think it's realistically plausible when the Fanime staff have so many other plans in mind for 2009.

^ Aw, yay Piffle! I love that version of Sakura (cosplayed it last year) ~

Anyway, helluangel~ would you mind switching my status to the white gown artbook version of Sakura instead? Sorry for the change of heart; I decided to delay the cherry blossom gown for next year when I'll have a matching Tomoyo~ Plus I already began on the white gown version, so I don't think I'll be backing out xD

Not sure if I'm going to be cosplaying this series, but if I do, Friday would be best for me :]
#19
Wait wait, but last time you said both the gathering and shoot were going to be on masquerade day (see pg 6) :O

So that sudden switch kind of changes everything >.<

I cosplayed a member of the Wonder Girls (Korean girl group) last year, haha :3 I've considered some other stuff (ie Chae-kyeong from Goong) but I haven't officially planned anything for 09, haha.

It's good to see people cosplaying from other outlets of Asian media! :3
