What does this mean? What is reserved ticket as opposed to a ticket picked up on say, Fri"?

Can ANYONE with as pre-reg. badge pick up a concert ticket on Thursday, or did you need the An Cafe promo code??? (which I forgot to use when registering)

Also there is no quota for tickets on Thurs. does that mean they will be giving out over 1,000 tickets or more since all the other days quotas equal well under the totla of 3,000...?

Reserved tickets are tickets held specifically for all paid pre-registration memberships who have entered any of our three promotional codes. They are the only tickets given out on Thursday to all those who have picked up their membership badges.

Everyone who does not have a promo code entered can still pick up tickets at any of our scheduled times. Tony made sure there were lots of chances for those to pick one to accommodate fans who are unable to come on Thursday or Friday to pick up the tickets.

Would I just be better off coming down on Saturday and picking up the badge and ticket then? I am really mainly attending the concert.

It's up to you! :D The lines on Saturday and Sunday to pick up a membership badge tend to be a lot longer than our Registration staff would like and that would have to figure in to your time schedule.

(2) I pre-registered  ages ago...I can't remember if i used a an cafe promo code or not...how can I find out?
On my "post-card" printout, it only has my acct. number and personal info..nothing else.

For any information about your account, feel free to ask [email protected]!

(3) PARKING!!! No one has mentioned how you can park AT the convention center (not the downtown parking) and at what price per day...I know about the links to parking, but the convetion center link says the parking prices are set by the particular event (Fanimecon) so again...how much per day to park?

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that one. But if you check some of the threads in the Hotels section, they may help you out.

Many times, organizations holding functions at the convention center will just use the CC's current price listing. So you can use that as a ballpark figure in your budgeting.

If you have any other questions about the concert, please post on the An Cafe ticket thread. Tony and I usually check that thread once a day and as the convention draws closer (only a few days more!), we have very limited time to answer questions on the forum. I only track that particular thread and may miss questions posted on other parts of the forums.

So you can't get all 3 tickets on Thursday? That's only the concert ticket? Also...what is Cafekko? Is that related to AnCafe?

That's correct. We are only giving out the reserved concert tickets on Thursday.

Quote from: fencergirl on May 18, 2008, 03:31:24 PM
So there's an opening band, right?
What time approximately will they start?

What time will An Cafe start?

Also, what time can we start lining up for the concert? Are there rules about it?

Yes. Ramen and Rice are our opening band.

The show starts at 8pm as stated on the MusicFest website.

You can line up anytime after the FMV's end. If you line before that, our Safety on Site may disperse you or think that you are there just for FMVs and not the concert.

Woah, woah, woah, WOAH.  I'm arriving at fanime saturday morning, does that mean I won't get a ticket, even though I put in the promo code and everything?

Don't worry! You can still get a ticket as long as you have your membership badge and line up at the times given on the MusicFest website.

Curious since I almost registered (midnight procrastination FTW), I was kicked out of the system when I submitted because the deadline passed.
Is it possible to reinstate it and register or no?

Because if not I was planning on getting my badge along with the tickets on Thursday (Day 0) but it looks like its only for people who registered. :(

You can email [email protected] and they can answer your question.

You can come on Friday and buy a full weekend badge. Once you have that, you can hop into the line for the tickets for An Cafe. :D There are lots of chances to pick up the tickets.

Ok i must be retarded because I am SOOOOOOOOO CONFUSED! so I HAVE to come sunday because I have my full time job. An cafe is the only reason I am coming. I would be there Sunday morning right when you open. so like I have a very good chance of getting a ticket because your giving away 300+? And for the autographs and signing? You guys are giving away 30 on Sunday??? PLEASE Tell me this is true!!!!

Yes. We're giving at least 300 concert tickets in the morning session and everything we have left in the afternoon session on Sunday. We did this because we know many Cafekkos are coming in only on Sunday and we wanted to make sure you had a chance to see them in concert.

The MusicFest website will have the ticket breakdown and hours as well as where to get them.

Yup. Just show your staff badge! The sad part is that you will have to stand in line with everyone else because of fire hazards.

Fun? Why, planning for Fanime to happen is fun in itself! :D

I have a mani/pedi scheduled that will be fun! Then it's back to work on making this year's Fanime a great one.

Planning, fun? Oh sure if you like sheer panic on a grand scale.

I think planning things is fun. It's really cool to see things you've been planning for all year actually happen and see people enjoying those events. In many ways, it's what keeps the staff coming back and volunteering hundreds of hours next year!

"There are three types of tickets (concert, reception, and autograph) and you can get up to one of each. You can request all three types at pick-up. Pick-up is first come, first serve."

I am confused from what I've read here. After we get are badge are we able to get all three at once (one of each) or are they just going to be given through contests where fans can't get them first-come first-serve? -confused-

Edit: Sorry if this has been answered. I'm just very confused...

Also, I'd be a little concerned about...finding these lines and finding everything I want to go to. I'll be staying at the Hilton Hotel.

You can request them if they are being given out at the session you are going to (see the MF website for times and ticket breakdown). They are first come, first serve.

However, we do have a select number of tickets for the autograph session and reception reserved as prizes. In that case, you can't ask for those. But you can win them!

Both lines (for your membership badge and the concert tickets) are in the Registration area on the first floor of the Convention Center. Just look for lots of people queued up.  The Hilton is connected to the Convention Center. There are info booths scattered around, so if you get lost, you can ask them for a map or directions. There's also a map in the program guide which you get when you pick up your badge. :D

My password isn't working. I requested my password because I forgot it and the one they gave me in the e-mail isn't working. I'm afraid I won't be able to try anything before it's too late because I have no idea when anyone will get back to me on the forum >.< ....

Please help!

On the dress code, will there be some breathing room? A friend of mine (female) has a very well made soul reaper (Bleach) cosplay she was planning on wearing to the ball that, I think, qualifies as formal. That'll work, right?

Yup! Her outfit should be fine. As long as she doesn't bring in any of her props. :D

Last year I missed the rock concert -_-;
SO there's B&W ball, Karoke contest, Masquerade ball...?

Fanime's Extravaganzas Division includes MusicFest, Black & White Ball, the Cosplay Spectacular, and FaniMaid Cafe.

There is a Dance held at the J from Friday through Sunday nights. There are also some exciting things going on with Live Programming in addition to the really cool Panels.

I have a question about lining up aswell; I don't think it's been answered yet, and if so I just need clarification.

After the quota for reception/autograph tickets is met for the morning pickup of a particular day, will those lined up who did not get tickets be allowed to remain in line for the next opportunity, or will those lines be broken up until a later time?

Thanks in advance. <3

The reception/autograph tickets are given out at the same time as the concert tickets. We'll give them out on a first come/first serve basis for the duration of the hour. Once those tickets are gone, we are still giving out concert tickets during that time frame stated on the website. This is for each session that we are giving tickets out.

Once the Box Office is done giving out tickets, it closes and the staff will be elsewhere working on more MusicFest stuff.

Our Safety on Site or the Police may discourage you from staying in line all day.

I know this is sort of a stupid question but what if we wanted to take pics why we waited in line? Is it at all possible for us to come with our cameras as long as we leave them in our bags? I can understand someone asking to take them if we took pictures during the concert but can we bring them for before and after part. I just don't want to bring it and then have to get out of line to put it away.

If you are waiting in line to obtain a ticket, feel free to take pictures!

But if you are in line for the concert, you will not be able to bring in your camera as there is a no video/camera rule.

Is it unethical and how likely will it be successful if we try to bribe the incorruptible Musicfest staff for a ticket?

I might have a ring....or something shiny... a shiny bright extravagant special thing of silver

O:-) everybody smile, we are close to an awesome con with An Cafe!

For you, Eric, it's VERY UNETHICAL and you will totally fail in trying to bribe the incorruptible MusicFest staff for a ticket. Yes, the Head of Fan Services has to wait in line like everyone else! Unless you have a few of those "shiny bright extravagant special thing of silver" to give to everyone on staff.  Then maybe we can work something out. ;-)  Something about a maid outfit....

On Thursday, will there be just one separate line for registration (pre-reg./early reg.) pickup and a one separate line for picking up tickets?
Or some sort of combined line where you get both at the same time?

Just to be very clear, there is one line for An Cafe concert/autograph/reception tickets. MusicFest's tickets are given out at the BOX OFFICE on the Hilton side.  The Box Office is not part of any of the lines for Registration.

Even though they are in the same area, the lines for to pick up your membership badges are different from the line for MusicFest.

You MUST pick up your badge (either pre-reg/early-reg/full weekend/Sunday/Monday badge) in order to pick up tickets for MusicFest. There are no exceptions to this.

So in short, you have to wait in one line to get your badge and then another line to pick up the tickets.

Im going to ask even though this is kinda answered on the musicfest page. But im a bit confused becuase of other things that have been said. During each you are only giving out a certain amount of ticket for the concert, and it shows that its the same for the meet the guests and autograph thing, is that true? only a certain amount of everything are given out at the times listed?

Yes. It's is true. Only a certain amount of tickets are given out at the times listed.

The only exception to this are the tickets that are won as prizes during the convention (i.e. certain contests on Stage Zero, Karaoke, etc.).  So you can definitely check out a few other events and try and win them. :D

I registered before the promotional code for an cafe is up.  How can I reserve tickets for An Cafe event?

Does that mean we have to line up to get the ticket to enter the concert if we don't have the ticket reserve?

I believe you can go back and enter the code on your registration until May 15th. After that date, the codes will be locked in and registration is closed.

If you don't have the code, you can still wait in line to pick up a ticket. :)

I understand that you can't pick up someone else's ticket in addition to your own, but let's say what if a friend picked up their own ticket and decided to give it to me, would that be ok? Are names/badge numbers on the tickets or something? Thanks. ^^

If they wanted to give you their ticket (which is totally transferrable), that's up to them if they are okay with it! Names and badge numbers are NOT on the ticket.

However, if they do want to go to the concert and gave their ticket to someone else, they cannot wait in line for another ticket.

for the thursday pick up does the "Reserved Ticket" stands for the reception and Autographs along with the concert?

Sorry, "Reserved Ticket" stands for the concert tickets only.

Quote from: Shi_Musouka on May 12, 2008, 06:18:33 AM
Asides from the concert tickets, would general staff be eligible for any of the other two tickets?

And you pretty much have a system where you have to either have a full weekend badge for a Sunday badge(Monday badge for autographs) to get a ticket, right?

Sorry, General Staff is not eligible for the other two tickets. Tony and I are currently working on something else for staff.

Actually, those who only come in on Sunday will be able to get a concert ticket with their Sunday badge. We tried really hard to be fair to them as well as everyone else who bought a full weekend badge.

As for the other two events, it sorta worked out to be that way. You would have to have a full weekend badge to pick up the tickets and actually be able to go to them since we mark it against the badge number. Or you can just stand in a lot of long lines. :/  To me, it's better with a full weekend badge even if you are just coming in for Sun/Mon since it will only be $5 more than the single day badges combined.

Quote from: slimchance on May 12, 2008, 08:00:38 AM
Do tickets have seat number or do we need to stand in line before the concert for seating?

Tickets will have a seat number but we are not enforcing that. There is some standing room in front of the stage and then lots of seating all around. You can sit anywhere you want.

You will have to stand in line to get into the concert.

Big Event Showcase / An Cafe concert tickets
May 12, 2008, 12:11:19 AM
Hello everyone!

Tony and I just finished finalizing most of the details to FanimeCon's MusicFest schedule for An Cafe!

The concert for An Cafe is a free, ticketed event to all who have a paid badge.

We have a total of 3,000 attendance tickets for the An Cafe concert, 100 for the reception, and 100 for the autograph session. All tickets are free with membership!

Tickets will be distributed at the San Jose Convention Center in the Registation area during the hours listed on the MusicFest website. If there are tickets still left on Sunday, they will be distributed at the doors at the Civic Auditorium.

Only a certain number of tickets will be distributed per day. That way there are still some tickets left for people coming later in the weekend.

If you registered with a valid An Cafe promo code ("ancafeprelaunch", "ancafe", and "ACCC"), a ticket will be reserved for you until Friday evening. After we finish distributing tickets Friday evening, any tickets that have not been picked up will be released for others to pick up.

You must pick up your badge before you can get a ticket. You may not pick up a ticket for someone else. There are three types of tickets (concert, reception, and autograph) and you can get up to one of each. You can request all three types at pick-up. Pick-up is first come, first serve.

To be very specific, tickets may be picked up at the Registration area at the Box Office on the Hilton side. There will be a designated area where you may line up. There will be Info Booths scattered around the convention that you can stop at and ask for directions or information.

For the hours, the ticketing breakdown, please look at the MusicFest website for more information.

The MusicFest staff, Tony, and I all hope to see everyone who is coming at the concert and have a good time!

Now the only thing I'm worried about is if the tickets will be given out first come, first serve, and I'm assuming they will have a number? I don't think you can really do it depending on when you registered, so I'm guessing that's really the only way it can be done (which really sucks for the people not showing up until the day of number wise, but if people know how to work a concert they can still get a good spot at least)

That's one thing that worries me a bit.
I'll be showing up with phen on Saturday, and I'm paranoid that all of the tickets will be gone because they'll be given out on friday or something. :/  Since we're driving up from LA, we obviously can't be there at 7 in the morning. . . but, yeah I'm sure you guys will figure something out. @w@

Well, the tickets are numbered but they're mainly used for a capacity basis. You can still line up for the actual concert as it is "first come, first serve" in terms of seating. However, we will discourage everyone from lining up until after the FMV's are over. Anyone lined up at the Civic before then will be for FMV's and not for MusicFest.

Tony and I are aware of our attendees coming in on Sunday just for the concert and have made every effort to be fair to them as well as everyone. I don't want to steal Tony's thunder but please be patient with the announcement of details. Otherwise, Tony will yell that I'm a bad boss. XD

Anyway, I'm the maintainer of the An Cafe fan community on livejournal and I know a lot of fans there don't check the forums here for updates, so I hope you don't mind if I quote you about these confirmations, but I'll be sure to let them know it is still subject to change. Thank you again. ^^

Hey speaking of tickets, has the MusicFest department figured out how they are going to distribute the tickets for general Fanime staff members who wants to see An Cafe or will it be a similar process as that of attendees?

As much as I hate to get involved in this, I do agree with the people here that there are times when the con management seems unprofessional(even within staff and scheduling-related dealies), but at the same time, I remember that they are all volunteering their time and resources for one of the most popular cons in NorCal. Honestly, the people who work for Fanime don't even have to be here, but they do it anyways because they love the con(or they love anime, at the least) and it's because they love the con that they work hard to improve their con, even if it's not pristine perfect.

Sorry if that last paragraph offended anyone... That's pretty much what's going on from the staff's POV though...

Yup! Tony's going to announce the details of the tickets for Fanime Staff at either the next meeting this Saturday or the meeting on the 18th.

I just hope you all finalize things soon so I have a general idea x.x It's making me nervous not knowing how the line for the live is going to be done and still not knowing details on the meet the guests thing and it is cutting it pretty close afterall x.x

I leave in like two weeks exactly for it since I'm going to a friends house for a few days before, so I really hope it's all finalized before I leave x_x Stressing me out xD

I've been lurking here for quite a while [~a month?] and finally decided to register for the forums, because YES, I AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT.
Fanime is only 2 and a half weeks away, people are flying in from across the country.
I understand this is really stressful for you guys and you're trying hard, but many of us need to get our itineraries figured out.

Honestly, a friend of mine called this whole thing a little unprofessional. She's only putting up with it because of me, and I only am because An Cafe is my favourite band.

So please persevere, try your hardest, and let us know asap!

I really have to agree.
I chose not to go to ACen this year, and instead to attend Fanime with my best friend, just because of An Cafe. It's bad enough we had to schedule flights and work around the entire thing to begin with, and we had to have everything prepared months in advance because of all of that. And to hear that a lot of the stuff has been scheduled on Monday... as of only the past month, if that, it's just pretty stressful. I've spent a lot of money on a hotel room AND plane fees, all because of An Cafe... and now I may not even be able to do some of the events, because it wasn't planned out early enough ahead of time? And with Fanime in 15 days (or at least, that's when my plane leaves, and some things open that evening), this just seems ridiculous.

I totally understand where all of you are coming from in terms of stress in planning for something in advance. At the moment, would you rather get half-confirmed information that constantly changes or get information that is fully concrete?

We are working on this as hard as we can but there are unforeseen obstacles in the way that are not in our control, mainly red tape that was thrown in our way by top executives. Trust us when we say we want to have a smooth presentation of the band to their biggest fans and the band wants to have a great time with you guys but we do have to work things out with their management, record label, etc. who may object to certain things because they're not involved at the very last possible moment.

I will confirm that there will be tickets given out for the concert. They are free tickets so long as you have registered for a badge. If you are only attending on Sunday, the Sunday badge will allow you to pick up a ticket. Details on that will be up on the website soon.

There will be an Autograph session as well as a Q&A session on Monday as stated on the website for some time. There won't be an Autograph session on Sunday as much as we would like to have it.

Meet the Guests (aka Meet An Cafe) will be held on Sunday. There will be a limited number of tickets for both (Meet the Guest & Autographs) due to the sheer number of people attending. As much as we want to accommodate everyone, we can't.

Tony and I are stressing along with you guys about all the details. We want you guys to have a lot of fun and enjoy Fanime as well as the awesome bands at MusicFest. As for the comments on our professionalism, we'll take the criticism and let it push us to be better at what we are volunteering to do. We do appreciate that you took the time out to comment about your thoughts. We are available through email if you do have any other concerns, questions, and yes, even criticisms but hey, we'll take some praise too. My email is [email protected] and Tony's email is [email protected].

Hello, I am a stupid newbie, never been to an anime convention before...

I used to spend $1,000's of $$$ on anime in the early 90's but got burnt out (and broke) along time a go..(this was before the internet and free downloading)
My main reason for attending is the An Cafe concert..so here are my questions:

When do the booths to pick up the badges (I pre-reg.) open?? I plan to attend SUNDAY ONLY.

What time do you think An Cafe, being the headline band will play? (late afternoon, early eve..etc)

If I want to have a chance on getting in, esp. with good seats (to An Cafe) should I prepare to wait at the Convention Center Hall as soon as the con opens SUN. morning ???

thanks

An Cafe will most likely perform in the early evening. Scheduled times for their events will be on the website soon.

I will advise against linking up at the Civic Auditorium for the An Cafe concert in the morning. As we do have Fanime Music Videos shown on Sunday afternoon at the Civic Auditorium, you will be requested to line up later on.

Definitely check the MusicFest website for more information. Hopefully it will be updated soon with concrete details!
