this event will be held on Saturday 11am - 5pm in the Extravaganzas office in the room of 211c near the video rooms. I would of liked to have this outside but the parks are controlled by the city and the legal mess is too much for this year. As this is a smaller room I am splitting up the games to hopefully 2 games of 10 per hour maxing out the participants at 100. The final 2 of each game will go to the finals. Signups will begin Friday at 4pm (2pm if the room is ready and my full staff is not needed for opening ceremonies) and close at 8pm. On Saturday morning before the event from 8am - 10am will be another chance to fill up the final spots. 10 to 15 replacement spot will be given after The 100 for people who do not show up at the time of the game. As this game includes physical contact legal is telling me i need to have entries sign a waver for physical contact/injury and to sign a waver you must be 18 with government Id or have a parent/guardian to sign.

The event will take place in an area in the gaming hall on Sunday morning  10am- 12pm. Participants will be required to use their own paints and brushes though some will be able to be purchased at the Fanime Thrift Shop. Now legal is telling me i need to have entries sign a waver for loss/damage and to sign a waver you must be 18 with government Id or have a parent/guardian to sign. Unsure why but Chair team (Bosses of Fanime) are stressing that their will be no painting of each other and i will be forced to disqualify people who decide to paint each other. Ye have been warned .

Submission of models will take pace Friday 2pm - 8pm In the Extravaganzas office in the room of 211c near the video rooms. Saturday from 8am - 10am submission might continue down the hall when the room is converted for ninja games but judging will be that evening with the winners announced at speed painting at 12 on Sunday. Judges for this year will be my second (former gw employee), a friend (another former gw employee), one of my staff members, and myself. Going foreword i would like to use winners from this as guest judges. If availability is good an award ceremony will take place during closing ceremonies on Monday. Now legal is telling me i need to have entries sign a waver for loss/damage and to sign a waver you must be 18 with government Id or have a parent/guardian to sign.

Chibitainment not my choice on a department name. Departments main function is to handle opening and closing ceremonies but i am given free reign to come up with a few smaller events. These events just require a bit more knowledge on the the part of the attendee to function. For example this event the attendee is to bring a model and submit it for jugging. Much how Masquerade competitors aim to showcase their skills in cosplay.

Hi I'm Mat head of the new department Chibitainment. This year we will be holding a new event called the Fanime Ninja Game. 10 to 20 people to a pod. Players form a circle, each standing at arm's width away from each other. On the count of "3... 2... 1... NINJA!" all players jump into ninja poses. Choose your pose wisely! Randomly choose a ninja to begin. On their turn, each player is allowed to make one swift ninja attack. KAPOW! This can involve your whole body. HAYA! Eliminate others by striking their hand - the wrist is not included. You must stiffly hold the position you end your move in. The next player is allowed to move once you have have finished your attack. If you are attacked by another player, you may dodge using only your arms. When only two players remain, they begin the final duel. The final two ninjas stop fighting, bow, and stand back-to-back. On the count of "3... 2... 1... NINJA!" they jump into poses. The ninja with the boldest pose goes first and play resumes normally. The game ends when only one ninja remains. First place will receive a trophy and a spot on the Fanime Ninja Heroes plaque. Number of players and pods will be posted at a later date.

February 28, 2016, 06:13:16 PM
Hi I'm Mat head of the new department Chibitainment. This year we will be holding a new event called the Fanime brush off painting competition. We will be using similar rules to the AdeptiCon crystal brush painting competition witch can be found here http://www.crystalbrush.com/2015-rules/. A quick description of this event: Participants will bring in painted models of the best quality of their skills in three categories. Small model (warhammer troop, dnd model, Single "human" sized figure, 28 to 40mm scale, on a base no larger than 50mm in diameter, with a total height of 75mm or less). Medium ( a squad or 1/144 gundam). Large (tank or 1/100-1/60 gundam.

I first attended Fanime  in 2004 also same year i started staffing info desk. It wasn't till 2009 when i took position as a second that i really started to pay attention to the inner workings of the con. In 2009 we had about 15k attendees, this last year we nearly doubled that. Pleasing every one can be hard. Expand your horizons if it is some one you have never heard of. Before 2013 I'd never heard of Steam Powered Giraffe, now i can't get enough.

As Kuudere said
QuoteFanime, as it states in its slogan, is "by fans, for fans." This is actually a big deal, considering some of the largest cons are basically run by organizations and corporations these days. Which, while that gives those conventions more power in the guest relations department, it can also take away a lot of control from the people who attend the event. Fanime has the advantage that they can listen to their attendees, because they don't have bigger organizations as their primary interest. They're fan-focused.

Last year we had a little more then 1,000 staffers for the planning and running of the con. We get some ok perks for being on staff but for the most part we do this because we want to. Pretty much all the money we get from the previous con goes into next year. From my understandings of guests for other conventions is that the convention pays them to come out or their company is paying them. Here I am unsure how much we give them but its has a lot more with them wanting to be here.

A lot of stuff I buy at Fanime i could probably buy from online. I go for the memories i make at con. Like in 2005 me and my friend maushed so hard at the ZZ  concert  we could barley walk back to our hotel rooms.

If you are still  feeling disappointed even with our answers take a break from fanime check out another venue to see the difference between a fan convention and a corporate one.

sometimes Sunday evening more so on Monday some dealers drop their prices so they don't have to take as much home

1. staying awake for the entire con might sound like a good idea but in the hours between 2-8am not much worth wile is going on
2. shower (nuff said)
3. you may see something you really want in the dealers hall on the first day but unless it is something really rare it is usually better to wait till Sunday or Monday
4. Unless you are looking for something specific the swap meet can be a really fun experience
5. if your going to musicfest or Cosplay Spectacular the line can form between 4-2 hours before
6. again if your not looking for something specific in the dealers hall or artist ally the pre lines before scheduled openings are a waste of time

Info desk allows as long as people who want to take your picture wait till you have no one at the desk looking for help
