So I'm trying to figure out how to create a mask. For the most part, I've seen several videos of how to do it using clay/psuedo-clay, but I was wondering if there was another way to go about it.

I'm not trying to make any specific mask, I'm just looking to get the general outline for one. I bought a Hollow Ichigo mask that seems to be made of clay or a material close to it. I figured I'd use that as the template for an overlay process, but if there's an easier way to go about it, I'm all ears.

I'm hoping to be able to get this done before the con, despite that I'm not going to be cosplaying this year. The mask is going to be part of a set that I may debut at Expo should I decide to go to it this year.

Thanks for your time.

Well I decided to go about the "clay" overlay process. It took me about 2.5 hours to do, and even then, the mask overlay isn't really that smooth. (I've never really been very good at making things with clays.) I'm glad I bought extra, so now I at least know how the process works. Though I think I'm going to try a different method later this week. Hopefully things will go alright.

I have not placed a panel request, so it isn't me. The only actual reason I got about what happened a few years ago when the remainder of our group backed out is that 'it was during the masquerade'....not the best excuse, IMO.

I am just glad the idea didn't go to waste.

After looking at the preliminary panel listing thread, is it Ric Meyers that is doing this, or is this a different event(I ask because of the similar but different panel name)?

Now that I remember, last year Ric Meyers hosted a similar event. The only reason I remember is cause I took pics of everything (Patricia Ja Lee <3!). It was a pretty funny event altogether though.

From the last panel that I was at (08), John Osborne hosted it. Not too sure who actually set it up though.

I haven't attended before but we're staying Thurs-Monday because we want to make the most out of what we have. I suppose that we could just leave early instead but I'd rather go as long as possible. ^^ Though room-checkout is at 12pm anyway on Monday so even if it dies out at 2pm it's fine. We're going Thursday though because we're in Daly City and it would just be easier for us to arrive there on Thursday since we're going on Cal-Train and we'd miss a good deal of the con if we go on Friday and we'd have to get up very very early and I'm no morning person haha.

Yeah that makes sense. My friends and I are driving down from Sacramento so it would be a little bit more relaxing to show up on Thursday. Plus, as you pointed out we would miss part of the con on Friday and it's my first fanime con so I want to experience as much as I can! :D

So I will for sure be arriving Thursday instead of Friday! I'm sure it is going to be so much fun! Yay for day zero! ;D

Of course, this is assuming you've registered already.

It's rather sad when people who haven't registered just come on Thursday not knowing the rules. ._.

Thursday is simply THE BEST day to start out on. Thursday late night/Friday morning long line is LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG. And some people like to gather in massive clumps in the lines and that just causes all kinds of havoc, i.e. ¬_¬;

And if you happen to get your badge early Thursday, it gives you some time to enjoy a few other events going on before the con. And there's this wonderful little restaurant just a couple blocks down that serves some good food (I can haz sake? pl0x? =^o^=)

Name's Ben. Currently have a room at the Crowne Plaza booked for Thursday-Monday. If anyone needs a room, I have possibly 2 spots available (gotta check with a co-worker to see if they're going or not). Otherwise, I have 1 spot available.

General rules:
Absolutely no smoking, as it's actually a law in several states.  ;D

Drinking is fine as long as you KEEP IT TO A CONTROLLABLE LEVEL. (NO UNDERAGE DRINKING. SERIOUSLY, I DON'T WANT TO HAVE ISSUES WITH ANY AUTHORITIES, I JUST WANT TO RELAX AND ENJOY THE WEEKEND.)

BATHE. For the love of god, bathe. I know some of you enjoy the rave, but some people there end up coming out with the "scent" of the entire crowd and it's really not a pleasing one.

Respect other's privacy. If you have personal items with you, make sure to take care of them and respect others' property. Like Woll Smof said in Men in Black: "Don't start notin', won't be notin'.

Try to keep the room clean/neat/tidy. I'd like to leave a good impression on the hotel, and I'd hope you would as well.

Other than that, just have fun. You can e-mail me at [email protected]

Update:

Several of the people (all of them ¬_¬) decided to back out on going, so as of now it's just myself. I have room for 2 others for the whole Thursday-Sunday/Monday booking. If anyone's interested, my e-mail be in them thar quotesesses. Just make sure if you do, make the subject about the con. I can't be held accountable if I delete your message with "generic subject goes here."

Same rules still apply, though I'm willing to haggle with the room pricing.

The likelihood of any rooms being freed up by May is probably unlikely to occur. If it's your only choice, book a room at the Fairmont. Otherwise, you can check out the Roommates Wanted thread. I had to room with several people 2 years ago cause I didn't book a room in time and nothing showed up available. Though the room hostess was really awesome and only charged me $50 for the whole weekend.
