I am planning to have a picnic with any lolitas attending Fanime this year.
Where we will meet and when we will meet is still under debate.
Anyone that would like to attend may, as long as they dress lolita and are polite!

On Friday we will collect anything non parishable at 5 pm . We are also going to make sandwiches an hour or so before the gathering.
Gathering for that will be at the starbucks as well(I think.....).

- At Fanime 2007, Near the fountain in front of the building. If too windy it might be held in the build if fanime staff allows.

- I am planning to have a picnic with any lolitas attending Fanime this year.

I think Sunday would be a good day to have it but Saturday is still an option because it's the most popular gathering.
I am also hoping for it to start in the early afternoon, such as One or Two.

If we do have it on sunday all the treats will be cold treats rather than hot treats.
i'm sure both saturday and sunday are fine with me, unless it conflicts with the masquerade or masquerade practice.
note that since i never wear lolita clothes to a convention (why would i wear something i wear normally when i have lovely cosplays to wear?), so i will probably be in a cosplay that involves either petticoats (but not lolita) or victorian mourning (but not lolita or GA)... xD hope that's okay.
i will try to bring cookies.last time i went to a lolita gathering, i forgot my cookies at home, a couple hours away. XD

A word of suggestion. Maybe you should shorten the time, since it doesn't take long for people to eat.
and tea isnt normally that long :< but yeah the time needs to be shorted just a smidge

I know it's a bit long but it's the rough outlines and I don't expect everyone to be prompt as well.
I'm guessing 2 hours would be more than enough time for it so this is the estimated start and end time, we might start at 1 pm or 3 pm and end at 4 pm or 5 pm, It's still being decided because we do have at least 3 months.
Um, how about we have it on Saturday instead, since the last lolita gatherings were usually on that day. Sunday has the bleach, Naruto, and other popular gatherings.
i might be able to come... umm... if possible, i'll bring either rice balls (filled with either: strawberry, red bean, or just plain cucomber), or cookies (chocolate chip or jus store bought if i don't have time)

LadyKaren~I think that should be fine. Just be careful buying stuff on ebay (that's where it looks like your picture is from, maybe I'm wrong). There are a lot of sellers on there that use fake pictures and when you get your stuff it ends up being really poorly made.

It is from ebay, but I have a few friends who have ordered from them and their products are fine. I'll trust them on it.

I would really like to see the outfits and learn more about what is considered gothic lolita and how your outfits have been assembled. All I know is from the little I've garnered from the internet, which just seems to confuse me even more. I would even dress up nicely and bring treats to share. =)

i'm sure that nobody would be opposed, but maybe a convention isn't the best place for looking at lolita fashion. i can get you some great links if you want more information on the fashion. conventions are famous for having lolita that aren't quite... "right". (to lolitas reading this: i'm not a crazy elitist, in fact i prefer lolita fashion to be diffrent and innovative, but i also know the diffrence between inovvation and not wearing it correctly.)

I agree with Nina about looking for lolita fashion at conventions...
I am not the best example of lolita but I do try my best and look for the elites rules to guide me a little. I'll probably be wearing a country loli outfit at the picnic ! <3

I wanted to let everyone here know that the park with the monopoly board and dice is two blocks away. There is a park across the street and to the right where the curled snake statue is.
If I have mine done I will come in costume :) with my camera. This of course will depend on when and where. If it is Sunday then probably not. If I get my main character cosplay done by april then I will be doing that for the last half of Sunday. The first half will be a Soul Society pleeb from Bleach. I was hearing talk of the B&W Masquerade ball being on Saturday and though I might dress in my outfit on that day. I am just trying to determine if I want to do a EGA, EGL, L, or GL. *LOL Maybe I should just go as a "Yankee" :P

I've been told, however, we can't have it inside the convention center, even with so many people loitering around while we have a cause.

Rei: That was most likely exactly the kind of post that they were talking about in that warning you were complaining about in the suggestions thread. And you make a lot of them. Just thought I'd point that out.

You may have a point....but those people don't seem to come around the other places I post at. I usually stay far away from them if at all possible.
You forget...it's only in the most NON-Fanime area that people don't care....but since this is an VERY OFFICIAL part of Fanime....people don't care much :twisted:
To be on topic, I'll be bringing some kind of snacks. How much and what variety depends on my financial situation when I get to Fanime. There's a lot of time between now, Tales of Anime, and FanimeCon for me to run low. So I'm not going to commit to anything other then a jug of juice.....or cookies...or possibly whatever's on sale ^^;
A good large sized package of cookies is ok, but bringing enough for 15 to 20 people would be a good amount seeing as how there might be 20 people or more...

Well bringing enough for 20+ people would get expensive with just about ANYTHING, that's why I'm checking to see how my finances are before I commit to anything. Besides...if I go to a nearby shopping center and see that they have sales that'll make things MUCH easier to bring more then a small amount @.@
Just remember that its a lolita picnic, not a king's feast, and there will probably be a lot of people bringing food besides. Small portions are ok. ESPECIALLY if youre bringing sweets.
I, myself, will probably bring some of my handmade fudge if I bring anything at all. Im already planning on making several batches, and my finances are thin as it is ~_~

I only suggest it because EGL and EGA originated from aristocratic designs(I think) and most lolita or kodona, even if they're punk, have an old world swing.

You're best bet is probably making it... I haven't seen it for sale anywhere but that site and it's a bit hard to order from @_@
I also have never ordered from there so I couldn't tell you how it works....
In making it you can easily use a kimono pattern from any major pattern brand(make sure it's Japanese style! ie open sleves in your arm pits!) and make it shorter using different types of material.
Making the flowing ness of the top is easy because you can use triangular pieces of fabric to create that look easy!
The hard part would be that pleather obi.....

I'm still not what a lot might consider a "true" lolita. People a lot of the time on the EGL community complain about my lace and ribbon being cheap..and a lot will tell you that cheap lace and ribbon does not equal lolita. But I don't want to be tied down by others standards, ya know? I know there are rules and crap but...I also have my OWN rules that I live by. The reason why I make half my stuff is cuz buying a lot of brand-named items is difficult and not possible for me and you can't wear that stuff much when it always has to be dry-cleaned -__-...but anyway...I look forward to seeing your outfit! :D

I know before the picnic I'll be going to the store to pick up last minute items, and then start setting up at least 30minutes before.

I will be arriving in town on Thursday, to get my badge as well as meet up with roomates.
Maybe we could collect non parishable items, like utensils napkins etc, on thursday. So those that are bringing stuff won't have to lug it around and worry about people gnabbin' on it. Anything that doesn't need to be refridgerated right away, we could take too. We could make a list of what people brought, put it all away in a safe place, and it'd be ready for the gathering. (of course this doesn't mean people can skimp out on bringing food. The idea is having most of the food in one spot where we can keep an eye on it, and have it ready for the gathering without any hang ups.)
Also, the reason for us gathering the food and stuffs is that since you are in charge of the gathering...it's kind of your responsibility, that and make sure that those who brought food will be more likely to show up to get their food. lol There have been one too many times I threw a party, and people copped out the day of, and no one had any food. Don't want that to happen.
People can STILL bring food on that day (it is encouraged), especially if it's perishables or things that need to be eaten right away. Like sandwiches, for instance. I'd rather have more than enough, then nothing at all. Keep in mind that even though it's just us loli's, there will be plenty of people around us that will want to gnab food from us. *loads a shotgun* So, I incourage everyone to try to be there early or at least on time.
On the day of:
We could make little square sandwiches and prolly get some juice. Juice depending on our list of what we have. Though, we will still need people to bring stuff. (hence the 'bring food' sign up sheet)
Felicity: That's great that you live close by. We could always use more sandwiches. ^-^ lol I'll leave that up to lizchan, she'll direct you lol.

Ah... I feel so terrible. My cookies and Fanime picnics are doomed, aren't they? (The only other year I went to a Lolita gethering I made cookies but forgot them at home.)
I didn't have a chance to make them, with running around like crazy finishing everything up and doing my pre-calc homework for my test tmorrow. ._. I'm so sorry that you will not see any cookies from me this year. Hopefully next year I will not be so doomed with cookies... I hope...

The lolita picnic was fun! I was the oujisama with the card parasol.
It was funny when Brock and Sasuke came to join us too. XD

Well someone forgot my outfit....so I missed it once more, which totally sucked.

I have the opposite problem. All the lolita shoes I have are hand-me-downs or clearance shoes, so they are all too big for my poor little feet. XD
I had a ton of fun at the picnic. It was probably the highlight of the con. :3 I cannot wait for next year. Hopefully I can actually help you out with putting it on, too. Too bad I live a bit far away...
