I'm always on the look out for One Piece stuff, usually Ufo Catchers.

Other than that, the list goes something like...

Ufo Catchers,
Mini Figures,
Key Chains,
Random Stuffs.

Random thing from last year that I still regret not getting, a One Piece Blanket! >.< It was... $24 I think, and I'd already purchased two over-priced items from the seller already and had been lied to by them (I was purchasing an Eyeshield 21 Plush set, and had asked the day before if they had Hiruma, the blonde character. I'd been told no, and came in the next morning to see it hanging on their display.) Still though, kinda wishing I'd purchased it, maybe they'll have it this year.

Oh... and if I find it for a good price: Ouendan! Both of them! XD

Huh, guess the list is a bit longer than I thought it would be.

What I won't buy:

DvDs,
Manga.

Why? Because I find that they're generally average priced compared to where I shop, so I'd rather save the money for things that I'm not gonna find in the local DvD store or book store.

Small addendum:

We WILL check your IDs at the Yaoi and Hentai rooms......but having the correct age on the member account will help in emergency situations and liability issues.
Good point on the emergency situations and liability issue. x_X I should probably e-mail them.

Curious, where can I find the e-mail address, or perchance do any of you know it off the top of your head?

The biggest two issues I could see arising from this are the use of Sharpies and Markers, and potential running around the convention center.

The pens, because if they're not capped 99% of the time (and even then...) you run the risk of someone backing into you, or you turning and getting someone else with the sharpie. x_X I can just see the ruined costumes now. Perhaps, if you were to do this, make some sort of shirt especially for the event? A plain white shirt with some sort of symbol or sign to designate them as part of the game.

And no matter how many people you tell not to run, someone will ruin it for the others. You'd also probably have to have a no "speed walking" rule. *shrug* Just saying.

If you all DO get the okay to do this, I won't be participating, but I'll have great fun keeping track of who's playing and seeing how many times they've been hit.

Oh, by no means am I saying "Ban Glomping!" I'm just saying that there really needs to be a rule set in place for those situations. Perhaps; and I know this costs Fanime more money that they shouldn't need to spend, they could include in the little bag when you register a sort of General Rules of the Con or some such. I, personally, think that's going a bit to the extreme, but you get the idea.

And I was told by Rovers after the fact last year that I can and should take down their badge number and report them. I will be doing so this year. My sister and I confronted someone who glomped her from behind and almost knocked her over, but obviously they didn't get it, since we saw them run off and do the same thing less than 5 minutes later to someone else.

Unfortunately, glomping is a problem that needs to be addressed. I have no problem with those who ask, but when you don't ask, I'm not going to be very happy if you knock me over and potentially break something in my costume, or part of ME.

Battery in the first degree?! Don't you think you taking this a little to the extreme. We all have different comfort zones. Some smaller then others and vice versa. No disrespect but your making it more complicated then it really is. If you don't won't to be glomped the tell them no. If they do it anyway then that gives you the permission to let loose on that individual. If you don't mind then the do it. It's that simple. I really can't see someone going to jail or getting sued for glomping someone.

Actually, yes, it is. But by other people's standards, no one is going to think of it as such a big deal that it'd warrant going out of their way to actually sue them. They have the right and ability to do so, but it's... too much work, and not worth the time. Though, I'm not sure on this but... I don't think it'd apply unless they're over the age of 18, rather, they'd just be  stupid kids and get their parents into trouble, instead.
Seconding this. Besides, when being glomped you don't ALWAYS have the chance to say no. Both myself and my sister who were in mascot costumes last year were glomped from behind. If you can't see them coming, you can't say no, and you can't brace yourself. And she is by no means (and no offense to her by this) built to handle anyone glomping her; she is rather light, and has had major back problems in the past. We both barely avoided being hurt when this happened, and this was at multiple different times throughout the con.

Just use common sense! Ask first! While they may not say yes to a glomp, more than likely they'll say yes to a hug and a picture.

i was wondering the same thing. i reg'd before my 21st b-day and put the age as 20, i have to contact someone to change it?

There's no reason to bother. For one, there isn't anything at Fanime that requires you to be over 21+, IIRC. Second, Fanime won't have trouble identifying you, they're smart enough to know that you've possibly aged since the time you registered. Third, it won't be displayed on your badge. No problem.

If you're absolutely sure you have to change it, what I've done was contact registration via e-mail to ask for access to my online account and manually edit my information. and ask them to change it for you. Changes should be fine before they start making the badges. You shouldn't have to, though.

Even though I wasn't the person who asked it, that clears it up for me as well, I'll just leave my age as 18 this year and remember to include in my birthday when I register next year. XD Thank you!

Registration / Which age should I have put?
January 24, 2008, 04:12:47 AM
Hi all,
I have a somewhat odd question for all of you.

I just registered and put my age down as 18, but I realized afterwards that I'll be 19 when the con rolls around.

Do I need to contact someone to get this changed? Or does it matter?

I figure I'm not the only one who has this question, so thanks in advance for the responses,

Hotel and Facilities / Re: So, Junior Suites?
January 21, 2008, 10:46:26 PM
Thanks for the response!

XD No problems with space or costuming since it's just my sister and I rooming together. I just figured that if there was a kitchen it might be worth the upgrade to save money on meals. Rats, oh well.

A normal room it is for me!

Thanks again,
~Xeluu

Hotel and Facilities / So, Junior Suites?
January 20, 2008, 04:31:58 AM
I'm really curious, what sort of extras are in the Junior Suites? (The Marriott ones in particular.)

Do they have a kitchen? Or is it just a bigger room?

I'm tempted to try and reserved one if it's got a kitchen, since between myself and my room mate it would probably end up saving us some money on our meals.

If anyone knows or has any information on them, that'd be superb.

Thanks,
~Xeluu

Quote from: "Ayanami Rei First Child"Yeah I never got glomped without permission, or even hugged. I mean I know I wasn't in a super awesome cosplay or anything....I was only crossdressed in a pink dress and stuff....but I didn't really see people getting glomped without permission.

HOWEVER I think there is one girl who should be carefully watched...she just screams and then goes over and gives people a sloppy glomp where she just jumps up slightly and wraps herself around the guy. That puts a lot of strain on the ankles, and it'd be really easy for someone to get a sprain, PLUS she didn't give them a real warning or allow themselves to brace properly.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=8RxL8DLsEuc

Seriously...WRONG way to glomp.
That was sexual harassment. Closer to sexual assault. That's the type of person that cosplayers need to report to ConOps and Rovers. Seeing this I'm GLAD I wasn't wearing my costume on Friday, because that's unacceptable.

I think that this year cosplayers need to take a stand against non-request glomps. It's getting out of hand, and unfortunately Fanime can't really issue a "glompzone" or the like.

I know this coming year I'm going to be reporting all of the unconsensual glomps I recieve. Asked for hugs are fine, but being glomped from behind in a mascot costume (I was the mudkipz), and being lifted into the air without permission (Big bear hug. x_X) are not fun experiences.

Quote from: "hugmeimnerdy"I second the plushies notion, esp. of the KH characters part.
As of the current time, the only KH plush available (excluding the knight) are all bootlegs, so you probably won't be finding any at the con.

Ideas and Suggestions / Mail out the Program Guides
June 12, 2007, 08:49:33 PM
I'm in agreement with the others who have said they would enjoy having a copy. D: I'd pay for it along with shipping, as I keep the guides from the years I've been to Fanime, and whenever I see them I end up sitting down and looking through them, regardless of what I was just doing.

Actually, the comment about glomping was a major problem for me, because I almost got knocked down when multiple people ran up from behind me and glomped me with no warning. x_X I thought I was going to fall and break my nose or teeth. So, major suggestion to anyone thinking of trying to pull off a costume like this... have a dedicated friend to be a "handler" of sorts, basically, to help out with vision if it's crowded, and to stop people who look like they're going to attempt a glomp.

Hugs are gooood.... glomps are baaaaad.

Im guessing you had a wire frame head?
Yes indeed. Much more room for circulation, and I have a feeling it was easier for a first attempt than foam would have been.

Quote from: "Kiyoko-chan"I only saw one Jesus and one Wiimote, does that count? =n.n=
Actually, I think I saw 2 Jesuses. One with a red sash, the other with a tan one.
There were two Jesus(es) if a Jesus actually entered the Hentai room, I know the one with the red sash, and he's underage currently.

And woo, I was the only Mudkip!

Quote from: "Ekac"I'd prefer wire-frame.
It's more reliable than foam, but if you get glomped you could get face-pwnd.

...if you use foam and you get glomped, well... you lose your mudkip.

Quote from: "Ayanami Rei First Child"Personally I didn't see people getting glomps or hugs when they didn't, it was very respectful.

I also don't think we should ban ALL glomping for the mistakes of the few. That's like banning the Rave because people get intoxicated on alcohol or whatever and break their leg on the dance floor. I mean heck the rave itself was shut down for awhile...so by your "No Glomping Policy" you should want to ban the Rave to since it's apparently such a danger.

*snipsnip*
Actually, I'm more for a rule along the lines of "If you don't ask before glomping (maybe hugging, but that wasn't a problem) you get a warning." Or just have something stating that if you want glomps you need to wear a sign. x_X Mudkipz didn't mind the hugs, it was the surprise glomp(s) that were bad.
