I took a few pictures, but they were on a friend's camera. :x  Does anyone have pictures of the Kaname Tousen with the 'visor' (and sometimes headphones)? :D

Dealers Room / Re: Fanime Con Extra Hour.
May 31, 2010, 09:08:32 PM
The reason for that (at least, what I think) is that even though vols have to work during the convention, not every volunteer actually makes their minimum hours (although single-day badge people seem to).  On top of that, some people don't volunteer until Sunday, and some don't even stay the whole con.  Also, a volunteer could - in theory - work on two days (Thursday and Monday) and not miss any time that the dealer's room is actually open, whereas the average staff member is probably going to work through those hours at least twice.

Although I'm speaking from a Volunteer Staffer's point of view, I don't necessarily have anything against vols getting that extra hour...but I don't think we want to have a huge influx of vols on Sunday/Monday just for that hour privilege, and not actually working.  Maybe if said vols complete their minimum hours, we can give them a stamp/sticker/special badge notice that will let them in?  It's an idea I'll float around.

Although the convention is over and you can't (technically, at least) go and ask them, did you try checking at the Convention Operations (ConOps) room at any time after you lost it?

Ooh, a gathering that I can take part in.  ;D  Had to resurrect an old account, but yeah...I'll be dropping in as HM Tousen.
unless my shift won't allow it. :x

Panels and Workshops / dA - deviantART panel

One of the mods at dA?  I personally don't know of any that went to Fanime this year.

I guess I don't count, being ex-staff and all. XD

Did that "icon" (eye-con?) just explode the thread?

Who were those guys, anyway?  I heard a little of them as I was passing by, but didn't recognize them.  :o

When this happen to me I asked the guy:

Would you like me to kick you in the balls?

Slightly off topic, but there was a person late Saturday night/Sunday morning who asked to be kicked there.  He was wasted, but that didn't stop people - he took about 20+ kicks, and that giant sword that Pyramid Head was carrying around to the crotch.

The drummer from UP HOLD tried to talk the guy out of it, but he was set on taking hits to 'home base'. XD  And funniest of all, it was recorded.

Quote from: "Leishu"The easiest and best way to do that is to find enough of the subject matter, find people to run the room/sponsor it (remember, all of the subject matter has to be legally acquired) and to make a proposal to the powers that be.

That's exactly what I have in mind. XD  Gotta get a feel for who's game, though.  :D

Yeah, I can see where E-Chan is coming from and agree with her, in case people didn't think I was.  :P And it's not really a debate, since even if Yuri was/wasn't included, I can't see Yaoi going anywhere (it's got a *very* dedicated fanbase at con and elsewhere). XD  I'm just the kind of person who's willing to take some action and help work something out with the staff instead of twiddle my fingers around and only half-heartedly suggest.  8)

Not to say none of you would, but, yeah.  :D

Panels and Workshops / Re: Otaku Manners panel?

Quote from: "Babbit_Chan"Maybe something like this could be addressed at the opening ceremonies?

It would probably be a good idea to have it in the Program and around in general, since most of the people who don't follow most of that etiquette aren't at the Opening Ceremonies anyway. XD

Quote from: "E-Chan"And Fanime attempts to be a family con. No offense meant, but if we show loli yuri then it's going to freak out a lot of parents and we run the risk of scaring off much of our younger fan base.

While I'm for having Yuri at Fanimecon, I agree with you on that - s'obvious not everything is okay for the general public/younger audiences.  That's why I think that if/when Yuri is "introduced", it should be in a reasonable amount at first, rather than pummeling the masses with it.  :P
I'm not against Yuri itself-- we have Hentai and Yaoi rooms, it'd be hypocritical to say no to Yuri just for being adult. I was objecting more to the Loli portion.

Mm, gotcha.  (I keep reflexively wanting to use deviantART's emotes. )

Quote from: "drallcome"Did you even see any H-Night showings? Pleanty of Yuri there. Plus in a regular room sunday afternoon there was "Girls High".

I went one night, but then was dragged off to randomly play Duck-Duck-Goose.   And isn't Girl's High a comedy?  I didn't get to see that (it was on at 11pm) because some stuff that happened after Masquerade (namely, leading a friend in a Menchi Dog costume back to the hotel).  But if it was, that's cool - it's just hard to tell when Yaoi has it's own block (several of them) but most people can't spot Yuri by title alone.

Quote from: "Akaihari"There is a lot of yaoi but little to no yuri  :(

I had an idea about that, and I've got the motivation to see it through.  8) (And I would have had a thread earlier if I didn't have work to go to. XD)  But like all big things, it would have to start small, so we shouldn't expect Yuri to become the force that Yaoi is at Fanimecon in the first shot.

First things first - what form should Yuri come in?  Dealer's Room? Video Programming?  Panels?  Let's drop some ideas here.  :o

The Good:
Location of Artist's Alley (or Row, whichever you prefer).
From what I hear, it was in the main path through the con last year - considering how many people travel through it as it was, I can't see that working now without artists getting ripped off, or having to be super-paranoid.  Keeping it in a seperate place means you have to go out of the way, but in some cases it's worth the extra steps.  :)

Stage Zero's "randomness".
It doesn't compare to what random stuff really goes on at night *wink wink* but it's still cool to catch something on the fly as you're coasting inbetween viewings/events.

That-Lady-With-The-Spray.
She was kinda hot, but since I didn't stink, she didn't come near me. 8) :(

The Bad:
There's Yaoi, and then there's...Yaoi?
This was my #1 gripe all con-long (and still is now).  Yaoi.  Yes, it's popular - understatement of the year - but for the love of all that is chibi, remember that there is this other genre called Yuri.   I could lay on the floor in the Dealer's Room, spin myself in a circle, and still be facing a vendor that had Yaoi, but I would have to hunt (and I did) to find anything Yuri.  Even some of the vendors were disappointed that there wasn't any - and this isn't just the DL; there wasn't really any viewing rooms or the like for it.  I personally would be happy to get something up and running for the next Fanimecon, and even if I couldn't, it would be worth a shot.

The Confusing:
Masquerade: So Many Awards?
Okay, I can see that some of the participants spent more time than would would be deemed "normal" by any non-fan, but why were there so many awards given out?  My mindset is that if there is a competition, and A, B, C and D all enter, if B is the best, why would C and D also get something?  Maybe it didn't end like that; I zoned out after I saw all of the awards on the table.  But near the end, it looked like there were 70% of the people who entered on stage, which makes no sense if "the best" should be the winners.  :?:

I don't mean to come off in negative way (this being my first post here), but I've actually lurked around the forums before con. XD  Just throwing my two cents into the pool that's this forum.
